I am be just speaking with for myself but I think the community has a whole has a bunch of questions to ask the Devs that they would like answered. So what I'm trying to do here is create a positive thread for players like myself to ask the Devs questions they'd like to see answered and hope that the Devs decide to join in. I think that one of the best ways to have a good community is to have clear communication between Devs and players and that more transparency in game mechanics and in general leads to more player satisfaction.

I'll try my best to keep all players questions compiled in OP and hopefully dev answers as well.

In light of VilniusNastavnik's efforts, lets keep this topic to MP questions and i'll redirected and SP questions to his post

http://forum.bioware...-single-player/

The Rules:

Be civil and no trolling. Try to keep to a Q and A format. There's already a discussion with the devs thread if you have a bone to pick.

Keep it related to the game. Dont go asking the Devs about their sex lives, I'm sure they get more then you.

@The Devs,

Please try and answer all questions, even a simple "no comment" just so we know the questions been acknowledged.

Try and be precise in your responses. We're trying to get questions answered, not create new ones.

Be accurate. Don't say something unless your 100% sure. I'll be quoting you and i think the last thing anyone wants is false promises.

@The Players

This is just for questions, if you have any suggestions for the devs please take them elsewhere.

Please be nice to the devs and respectful of their answers. I think any answer we get at the moment is better then nothing.

Questions:

Q. Region locked Matchmaking: Is there any plans on changing this. This is a big issue for those of us who live outside of the USA. I love the idea of low ping online play but not at the expense of playing alone.

A. For quickmatch purposes, we try to get low-ping games because unstable pings and high-latency games can cause or aggravate a variety of issues ("Narnia" bug, for example) and lead to a very poor play experience.  I would say it's unlikely that we remove that prioritization.  I believe you can play together with friends world-wide via the invite system.  Is this not the case?

Q. I understand the Latency Issues, but outside of the USA matchmaking can be a big issue. Could you perhaps talk among yourselves to increase the maximum ping allowance in countries outside of the USA for a bigger pool of players?

A.

Q.I have one question: Being that much of the "region-locking" that is occurring in match making is largely due to the inherent limitations in P2P hosting, is it possible to tap into EA resources and get a few host servers in a few world regions?

A.

Q. Text Chat: Are you still planning on introducing text chat on PC? If so will it be introduced in the near future?

A.

Q. Stats: Are stats the same as they are in single player? I know people have tested this but would like confirmation.

A.

Q.Class Balancing: I know alot of players think Mage classes are stronger then the rest, especially due to Barrier. Is there any plans to make other classes more appealing?

A.

Q.The only thing I'd be interested in knowing is if any tweaks/adjustments are planned on the loot system?

Or even if new chests are going to be added like they eventually were in ME3.

A.

Q.Will the option to choose enemy factions be added sometime? It'd be nice to be able to guarantee no encounters with enemies that cause progression glitches. Especially nice incase more are added and any of them cause problems with systems. (Such as Collectors did for PS3s from time to time in ME3MP.)

A.

Q.When I Fade Cloak on my Elementalist or Keeper, if I try to cast Barrier on myself during the invulnerability period it doesn't work, is this intended?

A.

Questions with Answers

Q.Stats: Is there any plans to make our stats visible on MP?

A. This is something I would like to see happen but it remains to be seen whether we have time to get to it.  We have lots of big plans competing for our attention.

Q.Promotions: Is there a hard or soft cap on promotions?

A. I think this is soft-capped via diminishing returns to prevent truly ridiculous amounts of promotions from making the game systems break down.  Most players shouldn't be affected, but people who already have hundreds of hours invested might be at that point.

Q.Attack Canceling: Is attack cancelling via using the sprint button a bug or intended? If its a bug, is it frowned upon or are you guys ok with it as a way to enhance gameplay?

A. This isn't intended.  I'm not sure whether we will fix it--maybe if it proves to be a big balance problem.  Personally I think it's really cool to see how players are exhibiting mastery of the game this way.

Q. Schematics: When will we see them? And can you give any more information on them? Are they just going to be for weapon upgrades or will we be able to craft weapons in the near future?

Schematics were mentioned as something we'd like to give out for weekend challenges in the future. We've been actively working towards that goal, but unforeseen difficulties as well as higher priority issues have delayed this feature a bit. I can't say for certain that they will eventually come, it may turn out to be way more trouble than its worth and we'll seek another way to reward you guys in a cool way, but we are actively working on these.

Q.Future Updates: Any sneak peaks in whats to come?

I can't reveal any specifics, but our current plan is to provide sneak peaks of various events and upcoming content during our weekly MP streams.

Q. Can you confirm that there WILL be content based DLC for DA:I MP? are there plans for multiple DLC's in the fashion ME3MP came out in?

Yes, we announced at launch (possibly even before) that we would be supporting the multi player portion of the game with free DLC content.

I can't provide any specifics unfortunately.

Devs, I hope you guys respond and look forward to your responses.

And if anyone else has questions, post away I'll add them to the list. Hopefully we get some asnwers.

I could be wrong, but I think the thread that one of the devs actually edited the title for is likely to be their go-to thread for interaction, for now.

Well hopefully they do both. I know the other thread is their go to thread, but it seems for questions to get easily loss there which is why I created this. So player questions and dev answers(assuming they partake) can be easily seen. For all i know they'll just ignore this, but I can only hope.

Can I ask a dev single player questions in this thread without someone getting upset?

If so.. The questions will be in a spoiler box so those who do not want to read them do not have to.

Spoiler

That is all I have for now. Might have more later on.

Will also start a thread of the same nature in Feedback and Suggestions. Just seems like devs pay more attention to this section of the forums than everywhere else.

Here is the single player one. Devs, please do not forsake SP.

You have a terrific thread, the other did get derailed a little, but seems back on track.

I've taken the liberty of posting your current list (and Vilnius') there too for visibility, as well as a link back here.

I'll talk more about setting up more directed/organized places. There were some SP questions which isn't innately "bad" but they just probably won't get the visibility there. Maybe we need one for SP as well.

Unfortunately it's the weekend so it probably won't happen for a few days, but I'll make sure to bring it up next week.

100% certainty? No such thing, plans can always change.  No promises!  Also a caveat that my answers are all to the best of my knowledge.  The game is huge, and I certainly don't claim to know everything about it.  Super-invested people almost certainly know more than me about the specifics of how game mechanics work.

Reminds me of wavedashing in Super Smash Bros. Melee on the Nintendo GameCube way back when...of course, there were no such things as "updates" or "bugs" on consoles at the time...

As I use a controller on PC, and the sprint function is clicking the joystick, my thumbs implore you to fix it. Currently, attack canceling can make such a significant difference in your damage dealt and mobility/survivability that not using it feels like I'm handicapping myself by willfully not taking advantage of a tool at my disposal. I'm sure there are other ways those classes could be balanced so as to compensate.

Playing with people all over the World via invite is not the case for me. I play from South America and I get stuck/Black Screen/Eternal Loading while joining (most specifically during the transition from lobby to game) on any European host, 100% of the time. I tend to have those issues with some North Americans as well, most noticeably with those from the East Coast.
I can join a game in progress though.

Many of those hosts are playable lag-wise as far as I can tell. Regardless, being able to join a game through an invite from an overseas friend is the bare minimum we can expect from a Multiplayer game, and I hope it gets addressed.

My comment on the Region-Lock Matchmaking per se is that it discriminates players from outside the privileged regions of North America and Europe. Whether Bioware has the power and willingness to do something about it or not is beyond me. Though I find the acknowledgment of this issue of some importance.

Though since I am in one of the "privileged regions", I don't have the same issues myself, but I definitely sympathize. I completely agree that players should be allowed to join cross-region games through invites. If the latency truly causes issues, it should be left up to the players to decide whether or not they want to continue doing so. I imagine Bioware could simply put out a disclaimer that cross-region matches may incur lag/bugs that are not a high priority fix item.

I am pretty certain I already know the answer to this, and I am intimately aware of the work involved in such a thing, but I want to make sure the question is asked so that BioWare is aware that server-hosting multiplayer is something that players would want. It means no host migrations, less latency, and in the user's computer that is the host, less resources required for use.

I can understand prioritising low ping games, but eliminating all others completely seems a  little excessive. I live in the UK, and tend to want to play at very odd hours sometimes (now for example), and can never find anyone. I can only imagine how bad it is for others outside of North America and Europe.

ok well just know that myself and many other players are waiting for new DLC before spending more real life money on chests. The sooner the DLC roles out the sooner you make profit

have you tried the recruitment forum yet? Just make a new thread and say in the title that you are looking for people from the UK who play at whatever specific times you play. I'm sure you'll get some responses

THANK YOU!  I, for one do not what to suffer through laggy games.

Yeah it sucks for some people that live outside the US, but its not my fault or BW's fault you live in a place with poor internet speeds and high latency. If you live outside the US the best bet is to try to upgrade your connection or consider immigrating to the US.  Also do you have no friends that play in your own country? Perhaps this will be encouragement for you to socialize with your countrymen.

I think ill be fine with my "poor internet speed".. Who would want to immigrate to a country with a second rate education system and third world health system.. Though it is funny.. America has one of the worst mobile communications networks having only converted to digital relatively recently.. meanwhile it has one of the best internet systems.. the reverse however is true for Australia.. one of the slower internet systems due to running off an old copper network, yet one of the best mobile communications networks.

There is nothing that prevents cross-region games, either through invites or through quickmatch.  But, since quickmatch prioritizes low-ping hosts, you will generally not see cross-region matches made through quickmatch for the most part.
