i'm thinking... the only evidence for his existence really is the old gods being sealed underground, and there's several other explanations for that as well.

The Tevinter/Neromenians worshiped a creator God before they switched to the Old Gods. There is also some overlap with the Sun of Elven mythology and the Maker.

In the end what matter is that we have no proof that the mages are responsible for every demon that exists like the OP is claiming

I'm glad the templars were more sympathetic this time around. DAO and DA2, I felt, had more of a pro-mage feel. Until DAI, I tended to always side with the mages. In my first run, I went templar with no problem. It was really great.

The Harrowing process in an atrocity to be honest. When people know you're a mage, you essencially have no rights as a human being.

I have absolutely no sympathy for templars

I am very much sympathetic ... to the competent ones.

Sadly, it seems that for every one mage we can trust there are 10 Jowan types.

spirits were around before the maker was a gleam in andraste's eye

Andraste didn't dream up the Maker, he was a preexisting deity that the Neromenians and the later Tevinter imperium belived created the world and who's belief preexisted the belief in the old gods. She most likely learned of him as a Tevinter slave.

It's not only mages that influence the Fade and the spirits. It's cause and effect really. The actions (war, indifference, greed)
and the following emotions of all the people of Thedas contributes to it.

According to Solas, a spirit becomes a demon when denied its original purpose.
They can be corrupted by being forced to do something so opposed to its purer nature (this is what the mages are responsible for)
or if they reflect the darker parts of the mortal psyche while they mine a Fade visitor's mind for their thoughts and memories (this any dreaming person in Thedas can do).

You must have missed the dialogue from the chantry outside of Haven where one of them spoke about the Templars abusing the mages.    And you missed the Codex from the Templar admitting to the abuse.

Theres fault on BOTH sides but the fact remains Templars did ABUSE their power and some of you pro Templar people need face that truth

The Avvar apparently put their mages through a harrowing like process too, and that is completely without Templars.

All my characters have been Mages. By doing this you see just how badly they are treated and why they would end up going to extreme measures. How feared they are and the fact that even Cullen - someone who actually cared about a Mage wouldn't budge on following through with his feelings. Yep, I've always felt sorry for the Mages.

No.

I followed the Mages through all the games, yes Mages can become Demons, but all templars are monsters and Prison guards.

I will not follow religious fanatics.

If it was, the breach would never be sealed and Corypheus gets two armies.

My opinions of Mages, Templars and Wardens didn't really change while playing through all 3 DA games. But, I tend to look at everything with a lot of grey area and don't allow the actions of a few to negatively impact my view of a larger group. It's really easy in both video games and real life to paint an entire group with the same brush based on the actions of a few with in a certain group. That's why people need to remember, just because it's easy does not mean it's right.

When someone like Cullen couldn't tell the mage Warden about his feelings, due to it might have ending up leading to her being made tranquil or to his own death, I tend to find them more sympathetic than those that abuse their powers as a Templar.

They are forced away from their families at a young age and this can be a bit traumatic for some young children in the early development stage of the brain, along with the fact as an adult they can not keep their own children if they had any children at the time.

Some Templars abused their powers. Just like some mages abused theirs.

If a mage is suspected of abusing his or her powers, he or she is made Tranquil or executed immediately with no possibility of appeal. Sometimes as a prophylactic measure before the actual abuse of power takes place.

If a templar is proven to have abused his or her powers, often repeatedly... nothing happens. We have yet to see a templar be publicly or privately disciplined for even the most heinous abuse.

There is blame on both sides, but there is no parity.

Objection just because you don't see it happen doesn't mean that they always get away with it without punishment from either the Templar hierarchy, or the seekers who pointedly do hunt down bad Templars. Your making assumptions from what little evidence we get into the workings of the Templars and the seekers that over see them which isn't helped as you only see it from the outside and not within either the seekers or the Templars.
