I will not be installing this patch.  I got better things to do than run around for mega hours collecting metal for armor.  Of all the things wrong with the game removing a glitch that was optional and affected single player is a slap in the face.   So no more dlc or multiplayer for me.

Well we each have our own likes and dislikes about games. Me? I love farming mats while exploring a zone. But I understand that this is not something everyone may enjoy.

I am just concerned about this patch in as far as breaking quests, messing up the combat system or the tactical camera system, glitching out NPCs such as companions etc...

And I like the banter system the way it's been personally.

I would hate to update the game and hear less banter by my companions or no banter at all.

The duplication glitch, aka Dupe-glitch is a glitch where you can duplicate crafting materials by selling and buying back valuables, with any vendor out there in the world. Basically you press the Y and A button(sorry I'm on xbox, I suppose its triangle and X for playstation, no idea what for PC) at the same time, by slightly pushing the Y button before the A button so that you "sell all" at the same time as you "sell one" object in the valuables menu. This way it will sell double the amount of materials you've put into the valuables category and thus you buy back double the amount. You can do this as many times as you want, and reach riddiculous numbers of materials if you so wish. This helps alot if you're anything like me and easily fail at armour customization. This way I can make sure I never run out of Essence of Perfection and Dragon materials etc. :3 It does not affect the amount of materials found while exploring. Hope this helped!

Ah ok, I understand. Well that's something I am gladly not interested in, but if others enjoy it, I got no issue with that. each person should play however they wish to play their game in my opinion.

I am glad that the gathering system was not altered.

Thank you for your reply, it was helpful ;)

From what I heard the patch #3 didn't really fix any major problems and only removed the glitches that benefited players (item duping and infinite influence).  The most attractive thing about the patch was that banter was supposed to happen more often but many here said they did not notice an increase.  The original patch 3 for PC made crafted shields have zero defense.

Patch 3 basically 1) didn't really fix anything, 2) took away from benefical glitches and 3) broke crafted shields.  Patch 4 is basically BW fixing what patch 3 broke.

Dear Gods, that's a whole bunch of fixes to fix that which broke what should have been fixed....I am still wondering if I should update or just wait for a while.

Regardless of how you feel about the item duping, I cannot recommend this patch.  It doesn't open up Solas' 2nd quest, many things like "bleed on hit" still don't work, combo detonators also don't work with 2H skills etc.  I think the main attraction is to toggle walk/run..... As far I can tell it took away more than it gave and hence not worth it.  Maybe one day in the future you will use the duping glitch or just use the influence glitch to get that one perks.  At least the option will be there.  If you get this patch you lose that option for NOTHING in return.

These two patches really makes me wonder where BW's priorities are.  I just hope post like this won't be censored.  It would be nice to hear from Allen as to why this was at the top of there to do list when so many more pressing issues are at hand.

From what I've read from game devs in general, it's not so much "top of to do list" as "what could get done quicker". There's no indication any of the stuff you mentioned isn't being worked on, just that it hasn't been done yet.

Then my counter would be "why is it even an issue?"  The influence and item duping glitch should not even be considered issues in the first place.

Bye bye my beloved Duplication-glitch.. T^T My enthusiasm for crafting armors and weapons will die with you... I'll put off installing the next patches for consoles, for as long as possible because of this. : P I've had no major issues with the game, so I'll happily not download them just to keep this tiny joy of mine alive. :D

I'm with you a 100% and I will simply not play the game anymore or buy any of the dlc's for it.  It's a glitch that only effects single player game and not the multiplayer and like the glitches in DA:O and DA2 which were left alone this one should have been left alone to allow the players to play the game they want to play.   Some may use it while others may not.

And since people either don't read patch notes or only register the things they care about, here is the list of things Patch 3/4 did:

General

Added key binding that allows players to walk.

Added mouse cursor scaling.

Fixed issue that could result in the mouse getting stuck in mouse-look mode when players alt-tabbed out of the game in full-screen mode.

Fixed display bars to correctly reflect items that alter maximum health.

Single-Player

Changed party banter system to be less random to prevent extra-long periods where no conversations would occur.

Fixed issue that could result in one of Dorian’s conversations not being available for some players.

Fixed issue that could result in a cutscene not firing for Dorian’s plot when players enter the Gull and Lantern.

Fixed issue that could result in Sera’s Verchiel plot being broken.

Fixed issue with the demon that could spawn during Solas’s personal quest.

Changed Tactical Camera so that it no longer re-centers when the player changes party members.

Fixed exploit that allowed for infinite influence.

Fixed issue that allowed players to exploit their gold value in single-player mode.

Fixed allied mage AI so they did not dispel targets that the player had frozen.

Fixed issue that caused the bar displaying armor rating to not update correctly for crafted gear.

Fixed issue that caused extra potions granted by items to be lost when players return to Skyhold.

Fixed issue that caused Mind Blast’s upgrade, Fortifying Blast, to not provide additional barrier.

Fixed issue that could result in the opt-in conversation UI continuing to be displayed if players opted out very quickly as the UI was starting to be displayed.

Fixed issue that could result in the world map being permanently displayed in the Storm Coast.

Fixed issue that could result in being unable to switch party members after looting.

Fixed issue that could result in party members not following orders to revive a party member in Tactical Camera mode.

Fixed issue that could result in people being unable to discover all the regions in the Exalted Plains.

Fixed issue that could cause dragons to become unresponsive.

Fixed issue that would cause dragons to freeze during their roar.

Fixed issue that could cause some conversations to be “hitchy.”

Fixed issue that could cause Varric’s legs to do odd things in some opt-in conversations.

Fixed Masterwork Prowler Armor so it no longer distorts on certain characters.

Fixed issue that could cause Harmon to disappear in certain circumstances.

Fixed a few non-herb crafting materials that were showing up in the Herbs section of the inventory. They are now correctly in the Other section.

Multiplayer

Enabled push-to-talk functionality in the multiplayer end of match screen.

Enabled push-to-talk in the multiplayer armor upgrade menu.

Fixed issue where changing multiplayer match settings would take effect without confirming changes.

Fixed issue that could result in players entering multiplayer matches without any mapped abilities in certain circumstances.

Fixed case that could cause keys to not drop in multiplayer mode.

Fixed issue that would cause the potion mapped to the first slot to also be used when pushing the 9 key in multiplayer mode.

Fixed issue that would cause the camera to spin at the end of a multiplayer match and not display the end of match screen.

Fixed issue in multiplayer mode that would result in the healing portion of Rampage to stop working in certain circumstances.

Tuned Strength of Spirits to be more useful in multiplayer mode.

Tweaked the balance of the Demon Commander in multiplayer mode.

Fixed issue that could result in items not displaying their cards when chests are opened in multiplayer mode.

Fixed issue that could cause pots to respawn in certain circumstances in multiplayer mode.

The armor rating and multiplayer key fixes were originally bugged in Patch 3, but that was fixed in Patch 4 and they're now working as intended.

Patch 3+4 combo was supposed to come to consoles this week, right? But still no news. Sigh, I wonder if it's not coming this week at all.

I do agree with samb. As I see it we are discussing this in a civilized manner, so I see no point in censorship, unless they do it just to get rid of the problem instead of addressing it. I too would like some answers. In all due respect ofcourse! I know nothing of game-programming, thus I can only imagine the work that's already been(/ is being) made, the hours and the nerves, and bad feedback is never nice to get, but it's still feedback that should be considered and addressed instead of just swept under the rug. People with answers usually stop asking. I myself am always happy with an honest response, even if it wouldn't go according to my own views.

PC player can still use cheat engine but consoles player will have it rough.

If they're not working as intended, then it's an issue. The developers wanted the game to work a certain way. You may wish it worked another way, but they're the ones who set patch priorities, not you.

And that's only regarding the dupe glitch. The patch did other things. Just because you don't care about them doesn't mean nobody else does.

I appreciate the open communication with Bioware's employees, but I don't think I'll be updating my game in the foreseeable future.

Forgive me for asking, but were we ever given an explanation for why certain exploits (mainly the vendor glitches, for duplication and influence increase) were removed with the latest patch? Aside from the 'fixing something not working the way it was intended', was there anything else?

I don't recall there being nearly as many requests to remove those optional exploits as there were requests to have visual bugs, performance issues, and quest chains fixed. It just seems odd, considering the glitch functioned the same way it had in the past two Dragon Age titles, but only now it is problematic enough to merit removal: there must be some extenuating circumstance we're either not aware of or being kept in the dark about. The priorities just seem a bit bizarre, is what I'm getting at: the fact of certain bugs being fixed only for new ones to rop up certainly doesn't help matters.

I apologize if I come across as ungrateful, I've been enjoying Inquisition since I started early January with my new console: but,I also enjoying playing the game without having to worry about managing a finite pool of resources when I just want to experiment with crafting, assuming I even have enough of the high tier resources to begin with. If all resources were farmable, this wouldn't be an issue, but alas, only ten high dragons with randomize loot.

I could go on, but I don't want to bore anyone. A pity I won't be updating, given I only just recently got Dragon Age Keep to work for me again: guess those custom world states will have to wait while I enjoy my game 'unfixed'. Best of luck, everyone, and have a good day. If anyone is able to offer a direct answer to my question, I would be most grateful.

Hi samb the problems is I can't import world states as I have to be online to import them which means I have to install the latest update or I can't log into the server.  Sure I can finish off the character that I'm working on at the mo offline but I still have some world states that I created which I was hoping to use in future characters.  I may in the future decide not to bother with the world states.

I don't know where you are trying to go with this.  I have read the patch notes and came to the conclusion that this patch was not good.  Just because I reached a different conclusion than you doesn't mean I didn't read it.  I might just have different priorities than you.  For me, mind blast giving me a barrier isn't as important as the item dupe, Varric doing squats was endearing, and I was not affected by many of the bugs listed.

Since I installed the patch on xbox one, I have been crashing back to the dashboard and getting kicked from the EA servers.  I have not been able to finish a single match. Is this related to the patch or is something wrong with the servers?

Atleast the option to update came automatically for me when I started playing the game while connected to xBox live. :S The Patch notes should be found on a different Thread.

I wish I could tell you how to proceed but I can only guess.  If you opt out of the patch you may still be able to import you Keep world state, if the keep hasn't been updated to only accept games with the patch installed. Basically you will be online but without the patch.  The Keep has obviously worked for games with patch 2 and earlier. If it has then you will either have to settle for the default or suck it up and get the patch.  Another thing I'm not sure about is if you can connect to EA servers without the patch as I have been scared to try it.

The instant I read the patch notes I started 3 new games with imported world states just to avoid this problem.

I tried to look for them in the News and announcements subforum but there were only announcement that it's released. And PC notes copy-pasted below it including all walk-toggles and others that consoles don't even have. I don't think they have actually released console patch notes yet.
