Well it just means the next playthrough will be a bit more difficult.  People were complaining the game is too easy.  Now there will be less crafted OP weapons and armor.  I'm not gonna stop playing the game because of it.

Why remove the duplicating materials trick.. It wasn't hindering gameplay.

As long as they don't lower the prices in the shops and don't allow us to get materials easier, a lot of people will stop playing this game actually. Crafting is an essential part of what made me enjoy this game to begin with.

Ironic isn't it...they fix what we didn't ask to be fixed, and ignore that which really desperately need to be fixed. Idiotic.

Oh yeah it is, especially since it was also present in the previous games, I really thought it was placed there on purpose by Bioware like so many others, it's so damn silly cause it wasn't hurting anyone, it was just in the SP.

This is my first run.  I pretty much got the best armor and weapons I'm gonna get right now.  For my second run, I'm not gonna make as many mistakes, I'm gonna save all my Tier 3 and Tier 4 stuff and craft the best stuff when I have the best schematics.  We are just gonna have to plan a bit better.  Consider it a challenge.  I hate playing easy games.  Just trying to keep a positive outlook.  I'd be happy with a storage chest soon though.  That would help out a ton.

The game will be still just as easy. You just won't be able to make nice shiny things that actualy look cool and are useful at the same time. You could easily beat the game just with looted armors and weapons, you really don't have to craft anything to be seriously OP (especially some classes).

There is absolutely no challenge in being forced to craft only some of those things you want, because the game becomes ridiculously easy around lvl 13 for the majority of classes. The only thing this "fix" does is forcing players to run around in weird armors they don't like and restrict them from having more fun. The crafting was fun. But grinding the masterworks for them or some other materials is pure madness that should have no place in a SP game.

Playing on the hardest difficulty setting is a challenge. Effectively farming certain materials in this game is not a "challenge." It's a soul-crushing descent into madness.

The cheater's mindset is to use whatever means at their disposal to win or to make things as easy as possible. I don't have such a mindset. I have my elven Rogue equipped with Dalish Scout Armor knowing full well it's not the best armor I can outfit her with. But I don't mind, because I like the look. I prefer that she look like an elven scout rather than a character from one of the Matrix films.

But I nonetheless use the dupe glitch. Not because I want to make the game easier but because I want crafting to be enjoyable rather than tedious. They can limit the dragon stuff. I'm okay with that. But "common" tier 3 materials ought to be, you know, common. And many of them aren't.

Yes exactly, part of what I really enjoyed about the game was the crafting, the whole process of making good looking armors for my mage elven girl, make her look awesome in different colors, I didn't try so much to go for high stats, it was usually about her looks and also shopping, my God the shopping! But now.. I can't afford anything, not the good stuff anyway and if I can't dress her in something I think she looks nice in, then the game wont be enjoyable for me, I mean running around in some ugly armour is just no fun.

I think ultimately Bioware could have left the exploits and then every player could have chosen to either use it or not use it, the ones who are against it could just leave it alone, simple as that, players who used it weren't interfering with their games anyway so I really can't see the big deal here, why did they remove it.

I do wish farming/duplication was still in place, don't get me wrong.  And I do wish they would have fixed actual gameplay issues.   It won't affect me too much this go round, but its gonna be different come round 2.

They removed or EAed all the other good aspects of the DA games ... did you really think this one would escape their attention?

Dear Bioware,

I was unhappy with several things in that this patch has supposedly fixed.  I will not be installing it though, because you've patched the duplication glitch.  I find it annoying enough to try to get through this game on casual when I can only harvest a limited amount of the items I need to make truly decent armor, weapons and runes, and my Nightmare run would indeed be a complete and utter not worth the time and effort nightmare without it.  So unless you're planning a DLC with a respawning High Dragon and other enemies that carry all the stuff needed for such or remove the parth of the patch for the duplication glitch, I can live with 'less' conversation and a glitchy Dorian.

Sincerely,

A person who shelled out 80 bucks for DAI, and is not happy with the unneeded 'fix'

The cheater's mindset is to use whatever means at their disposal to win or to make things as easy as possible.

Not in my case. My mindset whenever I used the exploit was to fix the broken loot system. If it's a chore, if it's tedious to farm materials, then it's not fun for me. I don't see the point of farming at the same spots hours and hours just to get fourty items I need to craft a tier 3 armour, which is why the duplication glitch allowed me to save some time and focus on the story parts of the game and the boss fights. I hate farming for items through many hours, it's long, tedious and it ruins my fun and my immersion. I don't see this as making the game as easy as possible but as fixing something that was ruining the game for me.

I like how people are saying the Dupe-glitch is cheating, considering that, that and the influence glitch, are the only possible "cheats" for consoles.. what about mods for PCs? I bought DA:O for PC just for the mods that made the game look prettier, this is the same reason why I loved the Dupe-glitch here. You could make armours without having to fear you're wasting materials, since many of the things are only obtainable once, like the Essence of Perfection.. I am not too good at making stat-wise good armour, that's why it comforts me to know I have a way to get unlimited materials, just in case I screw up what I'm crafting. It really was a glitch that disturbed no one. If you don't want to use it, then don't, but there were us who enjoyed it. I said it before in the beginning of this thread that I will not download the patch until they come with a new one that brings the glitch back. I might stop playing entirely otherwise, cause armour and weapons that look good in the players opinion brings such satisfaction watching your characters wear them in-game. I will not waste hours of gaming hopping from one area to the other just to gather materials that might or might not pop up when killing foes, it's not worth the effort for me to do so just for some awesome armour and weapons.

I can totally see your point.  I guess for me I was slow to come around on both farming and duplication.  I had a lot of hours in and hence a lot of crafting materials I had already acquired by default. And I read up on here as to how to best craft an item before I committed to doing it.  I am sure I will feel the brunt of this decision my second play through, as I won't have nearly as many schematics at my disposal.

I agree, it was frickin' annoying to farm three wisp essences in Nightmare to be able to make my Knight Enchanter.  The duplication wasn't in MP, so it isn't like we're using it against other players.  I can still lose a battle if I don't think things through or the enemy is higher level than me, and the dragons can be a P.I.T.A without decent armor, weapons and runes, and guess what gives most of the stuff to make decent armor, weapons and runes?  Them and the rifts, neither of which respawn.  Unless they intend a DLC to add such crafting items to the shops, or one that has respawning rifts and high dragons, they 'fixed' something that was doing no harm and actually making the game more enjoyable.  Now I can't make any more characters, since that would force me to download the patch and ruin my games.  This isn't much of a problem for me since I have early back up points in my saves, but for my Mom who also plays Bioware has just screwed her over royally, since it's my system and my game and she doesn't tend to do early savepoints so she can't just replay a character.

Thanks EA, you took something that wasn't even a molehill and made a mountain out of it.  Meanwhile, you've left unpatched the Deathroot seeds so that's not complete, a whole area in the exalted plains is still MIA, and other things are still screwed up that people are complaining about.

Um, yeah. That's precisely what I was arguing in the rest of the post you've quoted me from, as well as in my post on the previous page. I agree completely, but it seems as though you read me wrong

Apparently not, or it would have been mentioned by now as a reason to support the patch.  Missing bits of collectables that drive those of us who are a little OCD about having incomplete quests like that is apparently okay, but a harmless glitch that lets us buy things without having to send Josephine on the 'gather coin' wartable quest ever 45 minutes to an hour or craft things we want must be fixed so that the game isn't 'too easy' for us.

^^^ yeah I don't claim to no squat about video game development, but when patching a game, it would make the most sense to fix what is broken in terms of quests, combat, real gameplay, not chest and materials exploits.

Patch/Bug related but not specific to patch 4.  Is there a bug associated with hold position or is it simply a really poor AI function?  My party members never, ever, hold position despite me telling them over and over.

You can't make a new character without downloading the patch? Are you on console? I have the game on both xbox one and ps4 and I accidentally downloaded it on my xbox one so I'm stuck with the update there but I just tried making a new character on my ps4 and there were no problems doing so, you just have to play with a default world.

It's sneaky though.. tries to update the damn patch every time I turn on my ps4... or every time I start the game I mean

I was referring to the fact that one has to sign in the access the other world states, now I just have to figure out how to get my game to STOP automatically signing me and my mom into our Bioware accounts.  If anyone can tell me how, I'd appreciate it.

Ahhh.. I think you do that from the options menu inside the game, you choose something about signing into EA automatically or NOT signing in lol.

You're welcome and I can definitely understand that, I love the process of making my own character, it's a special thing and she should be able to experience it when she plays the game, more enjoyable that way.
