Chest Farming was really fun for me for a lot of reasons.  If it's gone then it's indeed a sad day.

I tried the amulet of power bug last night after installing the patch and I was still able to do it by leaving an area and then going back. The only one I could try was the one in Fallow Mire for Cassandra. I don't actually use the exploit, I just wanted to see if it worked.

You're welcome and I can definitely understand that, I love the process of making my own character, it's a special thing and she should be able to experience it when she plays the game, more enjoyable that way.

Yeah, and while I tend to do early saves so that I can replay my characters with a different perspective (My Human rogue will probably side with the Templars and romance Cassandra this round though, last time he went mage and and romanced Dorian), my Mom tends to create, play through, and then make new ones, deleting when she runs out of space for them.  I'm picky about how my characters look, and I don't want to go through the trouble of trying to recreate them.  (Three times trying to recreate her first Hawke, and none of the three quite looked right.)

I am picky about my characters too and I will start over after several hours if I suddenly don't like her anymore lol and I also like saving early and all the time but the thing is that, as I keep saving I eventually reach the top and then I start saving on top of the first few saves I made, starting my way up again which is not good cause I wont have my early saves that way.

Since I have several characters, it's not as bad for me, I just don't touch the bottom, earliest save and I'm good.  If I'd known that this would mess with my world states I'd've probably started a dwarf and male elf run set just so they'd have something other than the default world states, but my headcannon Inquisitor has my headcannon line so that's all that really matters to me.

Well, if they patch chest-farming I'm out. Either have all schematics purchasable (or quest-dependant in certain cases) or leave the damned chest-farming alone. I simply do not understand Bioware's "You only have a random chance to get (coveted item) and only limited opportunities to do so in one playthrough!" approach to loot-distribution in these DA games. They ought to be fully aware of the completist nature of their fans. Is turning the game into a trial and error reload-fest meant to be especially enjoyable?

Yeah I went to Emprise Du Lion and did my usual rounds.  Seemed some chests had respawned, and some hadn't.  Thing is I only did one round.  I didn't go back and see if the same chests I had searched respawned.  I will investigate today when I can get on the game.

Is BioWare even reading these posts?

Honestly I'm not a big fan of the BioWare Or the dragon age saga, but after I bought the game for my curiosity, I come to enjoy it, until I went on YouTube and learn about the dupe/gold exploits and I Really started to enjoy it more. I mean after a long days work I would hop on the game, see what I can craft up to enjoy without having to farm, it was a very unique fun tool, and because of that exploit I purchased previous dragon age games to get in to the DA world.

But now after a long day, I come home, turn on the game, try to play with the game, instead of losing my mind in crafting, now I have no choice to mindlessly farm, which makes the game kinda dull, if I wanted to waste my time farming, I would of joined my son on a life wasting MMO game like WoW or whatever mmo that's out there.

I mean make changes to the multiplayer gameplay, not the single player mode which is doing no harm except increasing the enjoyment of others. But as for now, I won't be playing the DAI game as much as before, like I want to, shoot I might have to return the game to the store.

So please BRING BACK THE GOLD/DUPE EXPLOITS for console players such as myself and others, thank you.

Failing that, at least make materials more accessible. You have a wonderfully-layered crafting system. It's not entirely about weapon dps and armor rating. It's also a slew of various different offensive and defensive effects from the various materials and masterworks and all of the combinations thereof. It's a system that demands experimentation (and thus, relatively painless access to resources).

Did Tony Stark fly off to Afghanistan to liberate refugees in the first suit he built after getting back to the US? Noooooooooo! He test-flew the mark II above his home, identified an icing problem, switched to a gold titanium alloy (which he probably didn't have to farm himself, I might add) and THEN he went all Iron Man on them (the bad guys, I mean. Not the refugees). See? That's crafting!

I'm also confused about the console patch.  This thread says Patch 4, but I think my PS4 version has only been patched once.  So is the console patch going to include the prior patches as well?

WOW a patch that broke as much as it was supposed to fix......

am i the only one who's have more issues with the game freezing up during cut-scenes since 'patch 4'?

Unfortunately NO.......

Wow 4 patches and this is all you've fixed thus far?

You patched the dupe glitch which most players didn't even use or know about and it broke the shields and armors and had to backtrack and fix what that broke and now call a hotfix is a full patch and is patch 4?

seriously?

there are people who cannot even play their files and games and this is all the answers so far?

Wow. Cannot wait for what Patch 5 will break in an attempt to fix.

Ok lets not kid ourselves in regards to the Duping glitch, people may not have chosen to use it but I bet that you under estimate how many actually knew about it. Now while I do not approve of its removal in entirity I would say more people not only knew about this but definitely would choose to abuse it. BW needs to compensate the issue by upping the drop/loot ratios and allowing more creatures to start respawning (specifically Dragons... as their materials are used to create top tier items) so that player item manufacturing is easier.

In specific regards BW shoould not have tampered with anything dealing with the single player game, unless it was to fix something that was actually broken. To be direct, there are still a high degree of lootable containers that are out of a players looting range because of collision detection issues. BW should also have put priority into fixing issues such as "The Fall" and a couple other mosaic pieces that are unobtainable due to collision detection problems where the game texture makes the items unretrievable.

What about the memory leak issue that has crept into many people's games after patch 4? when can we expect a fix on that?

YES, PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP..... as Biotic Flash Kick stated in a another post.......

my corrupted files are 'hostile environments'

So I've just downloaded the patch on xbox360. Didn't have much time to see what has changed... But I did discovered one thing: Krem is finally sitting on the chair! Like in a standard, ordinary way :)

I do wish farming/duplication was still in place, don't get me wrong.  And I do wish they would have fixed actual gameplay issues.   It won't affect me too much this go round, but its gonna be different come round 2.

Agreed, not everyone has time to sit around trying to farm an endless amount of items.... especially when most of these items become unavailable after quest lines are completed or the enemies are killed (ie. Dragons don't respawn).

Another key issue that irritates the crap out of me is the FORCED DA Keep story intigration.

OK I get it that they did this in order to get rid of logic errors, but here is where I have a HUGE ISSUE with this feature:

1. In order to incorporate a custom world setting from previous games you have to build it in the DA Keep.... FINE, whatever....

2. In order to actually make use of this feature when starting a new playthrough however, you are forced to download and install whatever patch (1.02, 1.03, 1.04 etc.) prior to being able to create your character for DAI.

Basically NO PATCH = NO CUSTOM WORLD story = LAME LAME  LAME......

They need to make a downloadable version of the DA Keep custom world generator that works for ALL platforms (PC, PS3/4, and Xbox One/360) ...... this way people who would like to revert to playing under an unpatched, un-BW-Dev-screwed up patched world can delete the patch information and be able to have their glitched, but playable according to how they like to play world.

In the next patch, would you guys consider fixing the quest block on Cullen? Here's a step by step of how I believe his quest was blocked.

1) I talked to Cullen enough so that he brings up concerns about his position as leader for the first time (alluding that he talked to Cassandra about it).

2) I finished the part of his companion quest where he wants you to find three scraps of papers related to the Red Templars and Samson.

3) I spoke to Sera, and it lead to me setting up pranks on the Inquisition advisers (Cullen, Josephine, Leliana). When setting up the prank in Cullens room, I noticed one of Leliana's scouts in there that's tells you that Cullen went to speak to Cassandra. I think this is where the quest blocker takes effect.

4) Once Sera's event is over, I go back to Cullens room and the scout is still there (though I am unable to interact with them).

5) I go to the Blacksmiths building (where I assume the scene involving Cullen and Cassandra takes place), however, it does not activate.

6) I am no longer able to see Cullen in his room (only the scout), which ultimately keeps me from completing his quest line.

So glad I read further into the thread.....

They also need to make a fix that regards Iron Bull and his instanced version of the Sotrm Coast mission that royally screws you over if you have the "Sutherland and Company Missing" quest active.

I went to Iron Bull got his personal quest and went to the instanced version of the Storm Coast, completed the quest (saving the chargers, cause seriosuly who wants to be on friendly terms with the Qunari as a whole....) upon completion was forced back to Skyhold and boom got the notification that the  "Sutherland and Company Missing" quest updated as completed and instantly became unavailable.

On a hilarious note, I rerolled and tackled the Apostate Stronghold in Witchwood and Bkackwall had a lot to say about it. When fighting the horde, he would shout "die" every 3 seconds. Should've saved a clip. Between that and being underleveled and outnumbered on Nightmare, it's a damn miracle I beat them. I was bent over laughing the entire fight xD

OK I just checked.  Did the same Emprise Du Lion rounds for Chest farming as I did last night right after I got the patch for Xbox 360.  The chests had different stuff in them.  Seems like a few had the same stuff in them.  But I picked up a Seer Cowl Schematic and a few High End daggers.  So you can still farm chests, at least on 360 you can.  Just wanted to pass along this info.

OK so I am a ps4 player , i don't have a lot of time to play the single player game for hours and hours and hours. not to mention with out the top tier materials it is hard to move forward in the game especially against dragons.  I dont see how removing the exploits you did made the game better? or how it affects anyone but the player playing the game as it is single player mode.

I simply for one dont have the hours needed to farm especially when entire areas of the game DO NOT RESPAWN!!!  I as of yet can nto get simple decorative stones because they templars that drop them do not respawn in the zone.

I really do not see how this is a fix for the game.  I for one will most likely play the game less now not more. I may even move on to another game that is less annoying to farm things.

Just a heads up BIO you do know that elder scrolls on line is coming in a few months and wil be completely free to play right?  I would seriously consider bringing back the exploits before then.  To now remove something that has been in game for years is rather silly.

Side note - my characters, Inq and companions alike, seem to reserve their blood-curdling battle cries for when I attack a ram for leather or something.  Or some poor nug is a victim of the 47 extra staff attack animations that continue after combat ends.  DIE, NUG

Oh yeah it is, especially since it was also present in the previous games, I really thought it was placed there on purpose by Bioware like so many others, it's so damn silly cause it wasn't hurting anyone, it was just in the SP.

I think this decision to remove the glitch is going to hurt someone--Bioware many will stop playing and the multiplayer is dying fast so this games going to be another Titanfail ie dead in 6 months.

Well, I was unaware that both the Inquisitor and Cassandra were telepaths. I just started up a new character (a mage) and even though the dialogue is running, their mouths aren't moving. Lucky for me, I still have my human rogue-so I guess I'll just stick to that character instead of this new one.

-- I play on the 360... It seems that the graphics keep getting worse every time a new patch is introduced. :( And now this. --

Patch 4 is a combination of Patch 3 (PC) and hot fixes from Patch 3. It includes nothing else new for consoles.

Except for more bugs, that is.
