You can finish the game without completing the "Under Her Skin" quest it's simply not ideal because you miss out on a lot of important information and a particular opportunity that is offered in the Arbor Wilds. Just to let you know.So how many folks here are unable to complete the "Under her Skin" quest given by Leliana?
"Under her Skin" is tied in with the main quest-line from what I read (I haven't beaten the game yet lol) and without completing it, well...your stuck I suppose.
Here is to hoping that Bioware is going to address this issue in their next patch, whenever that may be (hopefully in a few weeks).

Actually most people would agree with you here.
It's not most of the forum fans, it's the FB Twitter fans who caused all this.
We just report on the issues. Not our fault they introduced new ones.
Those guys cry about needing new DLC constantly.

I haven't picked up DAI again in the last few days after the patch due to some odd freezing I keep getting. Has anyone else had any trouble with the game freezing more often? Particularly in the loading screens and main menu screen? I had two happen right after the patch then another two a few days later not sure if its just bad luck on my end or if its the patch having some ill effects on my copy of the game.

Ah ok. Someone's post somewhere else mentioned the quest being tied into the main-quest but I took that as a: "Oh I see, won't be able to finish the story's main-quest line". But now that you wrote this, I stand enlightened on the matter.
I went back to an older saved game and decided to aid the mages instead.
Already deleted the other saved games where I saved the Templars.
It's ok though, from what I read on forum today, they are working on patch 5 now and it's official from Bioware's blog.
I'm sure they will fix *Under her Skin* or at least I hope so.
Thanks for replying my post btw, much appreciated.

I'm so happy this patch successfully fixed that pesky duplication glitch. It was so annoying when my character had easy access to all the resources he could require to experiment with crafting. I much prefer the current system of endlessly grinding through areas repeatedly in order to find what i need. And to have very little money making capability while everything in-game is so expensive just adds to the fun. Not to mention the randomised loot table to leave you with barely any schematics to try out. This was certainly much more deserving of attention than fixing the issues with mosaic tiles or adding in an ability wheel so we can use all of our abilities rather than just eight. I'm glad to see EAware has their priorities straight and their customers in mind.

I'm on the Xbox One and my saves were working FINE, until you forced fed that stupid new patch down our throats. Now I have no desire to play the game that I couldn't wait to play each and every day, even though I had played through the thing a few times already. I mean, come ON. You're paid professionals, and you can't figure out how to fix the game YOU CREATED?!? If I couldn't do my job like you people clearly cannot do yours, I wouldn't HAVE a job.
And frankly, if this is how you're going to take care of your paying customers, you've just lost another one.

While I understand that some folks enjoy having the dupe glitch, I for myself am glad it's not present.
I used to indulge in this sort of thing in Diablo 3; duping items and mats, and while it was fun for a short while, it ruined the game for me in the long run.
There was no more reason to do bounties, no more reason to loot corpses or at least anything that wasn't an upgrade.
I grew so bored with the game that I quit, as it turned all pointless, because I had anything I needed and had no reason to do much of anything in the game.
I recently deleted all my characters and sold Diablo 3.
I bought a new copy of it for Xbox1, since I no longer had to play it on the 360 when I purchased the Xbox1.
Now I play D3 from scratch and the thought of not duping and not having endless materials makes me want to play again.

Quoting my original post for reference:
Good evening Bioware folks *waves*
If you do read this stuff, I'm not here to yell at you. Just to inform. Despite what my forum name and post count might suggest, hubby and I have hung with you since Baldur's Gate. We'll continue to. Have to admit, DA2 scared me a bit though.
Anyway ... to the heart of it. XBox One players. Much prefer the PC versions but that will have to wait for a new rig so right now it's XBox One. Single player. Never Multiplayer ... left that behind when Neverwinter Nights died out.
The patch borked my games. Oddly enough, hubby's is fine. All mine were corrupted. Not mad, just informing
Since I had to create a new game, I'm only mucking about the Hinterlands right now and party banter is zero. We actually weren't having a huge issue with it before. Now, unfortunately, we are. Hubby plays on weekends and he's at around 160 hours so I'll have him fire it up this weekend and see if his games still have banter.
Another odd thing. Since the patch, we have a harder time connecting to dragon age servers than before. Not sure if this is patch related or what but we have to totally unplug the XBox, let it sit then plug everything back in and fire it up so it connects. It's weird.
Don't know anything about the farming/duping stuff so can't speak to that. I would like to ask though that some of these things like decorative gems be obtained a different way if stuff like that won't respawn after certain stages. Some players don't read the spoilers, have a guide or anything else so we have no idea that things like those may be needed down the line some time and need to make sure we have enough for said ... things to craft
So a way for us to aquire these items if we are "late to the party" so to speak would be a nice thing.
Thanks for reading and it's nice to see you back! Enjoying the heck out of this game. Keep them coming! Errrr ... except for the hairs
Other oddities in my post still remain however I am HAPPY to report it seems the banter bug in our case has been solved. For me all was silent for hours but I think Solas actually triggered it to start working. After he talked about his artificat in the Hinterlands and marked it on my map, the next time I went I had banter!! Don't know if it was Solas for sure but that's when things started to get back on track for me. Hubby continues to have banter although it's slowing down dramatically. Am assuming in his playthrough that is nothing more than them finally running out of stuff to say. He's at roughly 180+ hours.

I'm going to post here since my problems started since the latest update, crucify me if I'm wrong and I won't do it again, but here I go. First I hate you people not bioware but its fans. Its because of your constant whining and thinking you know everything about video games that the gaming industry is the money hungry crap it is today. Now I for one loved dragon age when it came out yes it had its problems and exploits but it was a game...a game I happily purchased. My problem comes from because all the whining made bioware say hey we need to fix these things people are crying about. Well you fix one problem ten more pop up so now that they fixed things my game I enjoyed has turned into more glitches than when I purchased it in the first place I'm talking the glitch that has arisen where a person or enemy is dead and you try to move to the next area and the game gets stuck so you have to reload and kill the enemy again. This problem never happened till they started patching things so this is why I'm angry and wish people could just be happy for once and shut up. Obviously this happens to me enough I had to post about it and before you tell me not to download the patches I play multi player with my friends so I have to.
LOL.

Well it seems the patch is working (so far at least ) with banters.
By working , I mean , if you start over a new game.
I was getting less and less banter with patch 3/4 , so I tried the Cheat Engine and something to trigger banters manually.
And I noticed it had trouble working , you can see a timer for banters , and pushing a button reset it , it was doing all sort of funny things.
It worked 2 min in the Storm Coast , then I went to the Western Approach and I could spam the thing like a madwoman , no banters at all.(and I had companions who should have talked with each others at this point)
That's when I realize there was probably a big issue going on with my save file .(it was supposed to be my main perfect playthrough
50 hours lost)
Anyway I started another playthrough and OMG!
I never had Solas , Cass and Varric talk so much in the Hinterland!

Recent SP issues I noticed with latest patch on PS4 (haven't tried out on X1 yet):
- During "Wicked Hearts" mission- Using the doors to go into different areas such as the Grand Ballroom. Vestibule, and Royal Wing, I've found that the prompt comes up showing to go into the same room I'm already in. EXAMPLE: I was trying to go from the Vestibule to the Grand Ballroom and instead of transporting to the Grand Ballroom, I was loaded back into the Vestibule. I realized the prompt on the door showed the room I was already in unless I rotated the camera a certain way to get it to show the room I was actually trying to travel to.
- If I play for extended times (2+ hours at a time), I lose the ability to prompt conversations with party members or NPCs. I'll see the bubble with the X in it over their head but pressing X yields nothing. I have to save the game and back out to the game's main menu then go back in to regain control.

For me, the latest patch finally managed to introduce the banter bug into my game after being fine previously. Have tried a ton of workarounds, no joy.
Great job all around. I feel that my willingness to buy DLC will be directly proportional to the speed with which this is going to be fixed...

So I stubbornly played offline for a while to avoid the patch, then decided to patch as over time I would lose out on more and more updates. (although dont like the nerf done to mage).
Now surprisingly the game is running much smoother but I have noticed a visual downgrade very evident on vegetation, I have not changed my settings. Also some parts of armor now flicker when before they didnt.
Any ideas?
Playing on gtx970 using 374.25 drivers, I tested with MFAA on/off to make sure MFAA wasnt the cause. (MFAA helps massively with this game).

This patch ruined playing Reaver on XB1. The Reaver lacks survivability and the only thing that helped was using dragon rage and rampage, which did great damage and returned enough health so that you could almost tank. Now, this combo hardly does anything! It took the fun right out of my favorite class.
What use does the Reaver now have? It's way underpowered and lacks defense.
This is why dev's should never do balance changes post release, but they never learn.
What is overpowered to one person is not to another.

lol I think the guy was been sarcastic dude.
If they really patched the dupe bug in shops, I am gutted I now installed the patch, because as he said without it, getting money is hard, farming for items super time consuming. Yet other things left alone ssemingly lower priority.

That is not really true. There are always some clear overpowered cases. Look at the Tempest, he can instakill a high dragon with just one ability (Thousand Cuts). I think we can all agree that instakilling dragons on nightmare is imbalanced. And then you have the Knight Enchanter who can literally go alone through the second half of the game just by facerolling over the keyboard.

First off
-Party Banter triggering has gotten so much worst and is not happening at all on my game
Second
-Since you guys got rid of the infinite material and money exploit I just can't play the game anymore. I love Dragon age but I also want the right armor that fits my tastes and I don't have time to go around gathering these materials.
yeah I just read about this, I really dont get why they patch it, just stupid.
First off if someone else dupes. why do people care, its not a competitive pvp game.
The fact one could dupe items means they could get round all the things in the game that are not balanced, and beleieve me there is lots of things at fault which duping fixed e.g.
dragon materials are of very limited quantity, meaning you can only make very limited good equipment. By the time you kill all dragons so you have reasonable amounts, you then have no reason to make that equipment. catch22.
The amount of farming required to get all the materials you need e.g. to give everyone +3 guard on hit will be absolutely insane. In about 80 hours of game time I picked up 2 +3 hit on guard.
The fact you cannot recover materials by dismantling items, this means people will be scared to use their precious dragon materials incase they find a better schema later. This is also a problem with runes. How often can runes be made without duping? I dont recall picking up much rune materials, not even the tier 1 stuff.
Gold is massively undersupplied, this was an issue in origins as well, the amount of gold you get from killing mobs and the like is pitiful, but people forgave bioware as the dupe bug fixed the problem. Without duping I be amazed if I can even afford one influence book.
Likewise noone will bother completing the fetch quests because the requested items become too scare and valuable.
By removing dupe many new problems have been created, the imbalance of the resource system suddenly has become a massive problem.
At the very least bioware now need to.
1 add dismantling to recover materials.
2 allow runes to be removed and put on other equipment
3 significanlty increase amount of materials dropped from dragons, I would say at least a ten fold increase
4 significantly increase sale value of items
5 increase the frequency of fade touched materials
6 make influcence books much cheaper as well as making influence rewards more generous for quests
7 increase carrying capacity so can pick up all the junk whilst out and about to sell back to shops.
Been honest if none of this gets done and duping stays patched, I probably wont be bothering with a second playthru, I consider it that much of an issue. Its not really a cheat as such as ou still need to find the item first to dupe so e.g. you cannot dupe dragon materials until you beat a dragon. Its just a massive time saver on farming and gets round many broken aspects of the game I listed above.

No I dont agree.
(a) you dont have use the ability
and (
you have to go out and learn the ability, and know how to do such a move.
Also in a RPG I expect to get uber powerful, if I stay the same strength releative to the enemy I consider it broken.
Some players may actuall really struggle and rely on this to get through the game, this sort of thing you patch pre release or you dont patch at all.
