This is something I've noticed too, the only way to get their initial weapons and armors is to add them to the party immediately upon recruiting .
It was like this before patch3/4 (at least on Xbox One).

You aren't the only person that likes it. The game would be ruined for me if there was just an Easy Win button I could press. You never know what else you might find when you wander toward one of the scattered nodes.
First off, the game is already so easy that duping doesn't really change anything. It only changes the amount of time you spend spamming a button and watching the bend-over/pickup animation. Second, you don't have to gather any resource to explore. When I explore, it's not to get ore/herbs. It's to .... explore! Go figure.
I love the combat. I love the story. I love the world. I love the crafting. I hate the resource gathering.
I finally made the switch and bought the PC version. My Xbox One is no longer being used. With the PC, I was able to get mods that boost the number of materials you get from resource gathering war missions.
So funny story....yeah removing the exploit only hurts your console fans Bioware. Go figure!

hmm...I'm on PC, in my first pt which was prior patch 3 I got them in their initial attire without adding them to party on the spot.
Sorry PC players but I have a question and not sure where to ask. Do any of you know if you leave the Xbone offline and play Dragon Age Inquisition if it will be without any updates/patches? I have completed the game after countless hours and exploring and doing every side quest I could find. I am now making a nightmare run and would like to use a few exploits that were patched to speed things up this run through.
I agree. I went through countless hours and finished the game having never known of these "exploits of goodness". Now I am making a nightmare run and would love to use these to speed things up.
I made a few suggestions about things that I believe could improve the game. I will post them here too, since I think they would be appreciated come next patch
While a lot of the issues I have with the last patch are being addressed, I would like to make some suggestions which I feel would make positive changes to the game. I'd like to point out they are things I would consider and as everything else are open to discussion, so if someone agrees or doesnt like them for some reason I would like to read about it.
- Schematics are quite hard to achieve in the game, which makes the prospect of future playthroughs a little daunting, since you have to pick them up again. This could be solved if, like specializations in DA:O, schematics were shared between different characters. That way we could not only have something resembling a new game +, but also could improve the experience for those who follow the game for its story, and letting those who wish for it to become stronger earlier, which would also alleviate the problem with mats gathering. Of course, you would still need to farm for materials, which would make it somewhat more balanced and find the schematics in a previous playthrough to use it in any other, so I dont think it would be a bad idea since it essentially would make focusing in the story and characters easier.
- A new game+ option could be good. It could let you carry over your equipment, items, and levels but allow you to choose a different specialization in second playthrough if you so wish. This new game+ wont be just that, though, as enemies and loot could be scaled to your character's endgame level, thus allowing for more level ups. This would simultaneously make the game a bit harder on second playthrough but also more rewarding, as while everything is retained, the challenge is still there and experience earned would not take a big hit. Max level could be hit after several playthroughs, which would enhance replayability. Of course new game + could only be done with the same character (like Shepard in Mass Effect) but allowing for minor changes in character creation at the beginning of the game. This would also allow for more sets of the best possible armor, but of course one would have to work for it, since materials are still rather limited, for example dragon mats, and they would still need to be crafted.
- Duping was not really a problem with the game as far as I've seen, so I wish it could be reintroduced. It could, however, disable achievements if used, which would be a fair trade if a compromise needs to be done.
- A new difficulty level for further playthroughs unlocked after beating the game once in the hardest difficulty, to accompany the third suggestion, could be good. It could make the gameplay brutal, but since it could be activated at will I dont see an issue with it.
PS: It would be good if we could import our world state from the Keep and then save it to our systems for use offline. Not everyone has internet access and it should be an option for everyone to be able to "import" their world state if they like. Seeing as how the Keep is structured, it should not be too hard to implement a tool for doing so offline when there is no connection available. Otherwise, importing from the Keep but keep that world state saved in your console or PC for use in further playthroughs saving users the trouble of having to be online to import their world state.
For now those are my suggestions. If you want to point out something I could have missed, or think of a way to improve them, feel free to do so. And forgive any possible mistake, English is not my mother language.
So, a few issues I've noticed since the patch. I can't remember if I had created this character just before or just after the patch. I THINK just after. So far on this play through these are the issues I've seen come up.
- While still in Haven Blackwall calls my Herald, Inquisitor.
- On obtaining both Sera and Blackwall neither have their base weapons and armor they should come with. When able to select your party after immediately getting them and either add them or keep the party you already had I kept what I already had. Not sure if that somehow changes/glitches whether their armor/weapons show up or not.
- Vivianne asked me a question when I first speak to her in Haven and the answers given for me to select don't pertain to her question. I'm sorry I don't recall the dialogue I just know from my 4 previous play through's that they didn't match up. Luckily I knew which one to pick to win some approval points from her.
- And for some reason party banter on this character seems worse than the others I have going. Like almost completely non-existent. I've made it to lvl 9 and have had maybe less than 5. Outside the typical "bandits ahead" or whatever. I was actually excited last night when they started to banter but another NPC cut them off so I didn't even get to hear the end of it! :/
- On one of my other characters created pre-patch 4. I had the Grand Ballroom/Vestibule bug that other folks are experiencing too.
- Also after completing "Well, ****" the wicked grace scene never happens. Varric asks if I want to play but no cut scene. I'm just spit back into the main hall. I really wanted to see that scene too!
EDITED to add. I also got the door bug while doing Champions of the Just, between the main hall and the lieutenants quarters.
I had Blackwall and Sera show up in Haven without their equipment in my first play-through, which was Patch 1. I was especially miffed because I actually added Blackwall to my party immediately and put some new equipment on him that vanished once I returned to Haven.
Varric asking you to play Wicked Grace after Well, $&!# is a completely separate event from the later major cut-scene. (I remember in my first play-through that I thought it was odd for him to ask my Inquisitor to play and then the conversation just ended.)
I have had the same issue with the doors in the Champions of The Just & The Winter Palace giving a Perma Loading Screen I tried Uninstalling and Reninstalling my game but it still does it and I know Patch 4 is responsible and combine that with not being able to complete Under her Skin Mission and you can see my frustration.Seriously I am loving having a game thats so Broken thanks B-Ware.I am on XB1 by the wayI had Blackwall and Sera show up in Haven without their equipment in my first play-through, which was Patch 1. UPDATED
ok did some testing and wow what a mess.
I tested following abilities with results, result either be full test failure, tooltip test failure, or pass full test. or pass toolltips
Barrage pass tooltips
Barrier fail full test (17 secs with and without ring)
War cry, - failed tooltip test
payback, - failed tooltip test
rally, - failed tooltip test
shield bash, - failed tooltip test
immolate, - failed tooltip test
leaping shot. - failed tooltip test
chain lightning - failed tooltip test
lightning bolt - failed tooltip test
lunge and slash - failed tooltip test
war cry - failed tooltip test
block and slash - failed tooltip test
horn of valor - failed tooltip test
mighty blow - failed tooltip test
war horn - failed tooltip test
grappling chain - failed tooltip test
long shot - failed tooltip test
explosive shot - failed tooltip test
caltrops - failed tooltip test
toxic cloud - failed tooltip test
blizzard - failed tooltip test
flashfire - failed tooltip test
ice mine - failed tooltip test
wall of ice - failed tooltip test
winters grasp - failed tooltip test
thousand cuts - failed tooltip test
twin fangs - failed tooltip test
thousand cuts Is interesting as on reddit someone said it works, their tooltip got boosted to 400% damage, but mine stays at 300%.
This is hideous, its as if they added the rings right at end to make game feel fuller but only as cosmetic, I bet they not coded in to even change anything, because if they were it be easy to fix.
I tested stat rings like bonus flank, critical hit damage, and all the ones I tested worked. (on tooltips). But these are weak vs the abilitiy rings.
I have the counterstrike and throwing blade rings but noone knows the skills.
I would say is it a tooltip only bug as before, but one single skill the tooltip changed which is barrage, this adds inconsistency plus on reddit someone said the tooltip changed for their working thousand cuts.
Wait, most rings failed tooltip test - does that mean the effect itself STILL works (increased dmg/dur) but the tooltip for the abilities stay the same? Because if so, that means a lot of rings are still actually useful, except for Barrier and Barrage.
Certainly more useful the bleed/stagger. (is Heal on Kill broken too? Augh.)
PS4:
- Conversations with Varric are bugged now. I'm unable to advance his personal questline because every time I try to talk to him he brings up the specialization conversation. I can't trigger his Well Sh^t quest nor the Wicked Grace scene because of this. All conversation options have been exhausted in the convo wheel but that same conversation about the Artificer specialization still triggers first disallowing any other progression with his personal story.
I'm not big on mp, but I thought that you should know I just crashed to main menu while playing MP. I'm on the Xbone. I can deal with all the delays in sound efffects. drop in frame rates, texture pop-in, disappearing nps during cut-scenes. I can deal with all that crap, I just hope that you will fix "Under her skin" quest for the Xbone, since everybody that owns an xbone, is unable to play the game if aligning with the templars. Please fix this in the next patch
Please fix the horrible tan pants/boots bug
I am having many problems, most I can deal with ok, but the direct x issue has finally stopped my playing. I am unable to go through the Eluvian with Morrigan, get, the Direct X has stopped working. Before if I restarted 2 or 3 times it would continue on in the game, I have tried 6 times still get same error, bummer.
The game has great scenery, various terrain that is quite fun, I have been enjoying playing on my PC. After reading about the patches, I have not installed any, since none will help with the Direct X issue.. Good luck everyone
I hate to complain but I really don't like the mage outfits this time around. I hope some mage robes can get added to the game that are similar looking to Origins.
I'm still noticing on the PS4 that NPC's at Skyhold will disappear sometimes as well as the décor in the throne room.
Please fix the horrible tan pants/boots bug
Try this. When your pants/boots turn that tan color, go into some water, walk around in it for a bit and then walk out.
Patch 4 completely killed party banter for me (PS4).
This really is an outstanding game when it works, but there are too many bugs.
By the way, has Bioware actually RESPONDED to any of these complaints? Here, there, or anywhere?
No.
a restart possibility on consoles for playthroughs would be nice.
On console there give no function to save the faces or character values on each option to write it down. But I want use the same face for more playthrough. I think a Story restart Option after Klimax is possible or not? Or a save game import on new game?

Oh yes, this!! So much this please!!!

Then I guess Biwoare should add some Klimax first, right? ![]()
Please fix the horrible tan pants/boots bug
Yes PLEASE fix that tan/boots bug. It starts SO early in the game for me.

As you noted in your own link, it's not a bug but a feature. If you walk in a water source, that actually gets rid of it faster. That's how I first realized that it was suppose to be mud, dirt or whatever. Maybe it's a shader and if so maybe they can have it decay a lot faster because it is absolutely ugly , just like the persistent gore. At least there is a checkmark to turn the gore off.
