Only if you assume they're broken.

I dunno, the tac cam being blocked by rocks, trees and ceilings doesn't look like it's working "just like in origins". Nor the current UI is "the ultimate PC experience" we've been told about.

Please point out a person who doesn't think so. My "ignore" button looks a bit rusty.

I've never watched that video, which might explain the differences in our experience. Personally I don't have a problem with the UI and I almost never use the tac cam since I don't find it necessary. So maybe that's broken? Dunno. But I imagine it getting blocked by trees and such is because its more maneuverable and the world is more open. Also, for a thing to be broken it has to not be working as designed. Even in that vid the UI and tac cam were working as they are now. So they're not broken. Poorly designed possibly but not broken in the traditional sense.

Second that. It's not broken...simply underwhelming.

How many hours of coding would it cost to implement mappable mouse buttons for instance? I can't imagine something like that would take much time at all. Probably just a fraction of the time Bioware invested in hyping the game as "made for PC gamers, by PC gamers" stating gamers would be "super, super pleased with it". Lack luster design is one thing, dishonesty another. As for the UI, I kind of like it, but would have liked a few more quick slots on the hotbar. The tactical mode has some issues; inability to queue commands and poor tactical camera angles being the biggest drawbacks for me. Personally though, I would prefer a more flowing ME style of tactics as it would suit the flowing action of the game better. But this approach dictates a more robust and customizable AI than DA:I was given. All of it fixable, but none of it broken. Lots of unfulfilled potential in DA:I.

My personal pet peeves (after constant CTD was fixed by new nVidia driver) are poorly balanced skills and crafting, and broken male elf arms (I like my elves what can I say). And I won't touch the game untill one or all issues are addressed. :)

Is the dupe still "fixed?" If so, my PS4 version shall stick with patch 2.

I've thanked someone for expressing his feelings I don't like and I'm wrong somewhere? What kind of racist you are to give advices like that to people being civil and gentle?

Well I will just keep spamming the list of issues still not fixed, since far as I am concerned - if they haven't been specifically confirmed as planned for fixing, they haven't been seen. Plenty of other stuff that could be fixed too, but the camera movement in action mode, instant area looting for resources, tactical camera controls and hotbar size on PC are by far the most umm... present. As in they are throughout the entire gameplay experience and make a lot worse.

I improved some of the wording in that post and added some clarifications.

But isn't this already tracked internally as Patch 5?  The package.mft in the Update/Patch folder says Patch Version 5 and the installerdata.xml in _Installer shows it as version="1.0.0.5".  I'd assume this is because the hotfix for patch 2 showed up as version 3?

Yeah, I wonder who is the confused party here...seems to me things got a bit out of hand at Bioware and now they are trying to straighten things out.#

It is always a good idea to have a patch structure in place BEFORE you start rolling it out.

Yeah, I think there's just something about needing to completely increment the number from a data stand point, so it's easiest to simply say "it's patch 4" rather than communicating that it's "Patch 3 hotfix" while the patch data actually says "Patch 4."  It'd end up confusing because visible "Patch 4" would be tracked internally as "Patch 5" and guaranteed someone will make a mistake and get confused!

I don't have any news on patch 5 at this time unfortunately. I'll touch base to see if we can at least get a timeline on when we're able to get more information for that.

Internally, the patch you are calling "patch 4" is tracked as patch 5. Since patch 2 hotfix is patch 3

LOL

1) You have incredibly low standards

2) You play on easy or normal? Because using the tac cam is pretty much the only way to play on highest difficulty settings.

3) You've never played Origins and thus you don't know how a proper tac cam works. Besides, they clearly say in the vid "just like in Origins", which is a lie.

Still no party banter, (working prior to patch 3,) still missing most of the ambient sounds and contextual music changes, (working prior to patch 2,) still broken LOD and lower foliage detail, (working prior to patch 1.)

How about you scrap your entire patch base and revert to the release code, and try again? Oh, preferably in a manner that doesn't invalid the 120 hours of game time that I've already put in, (and now can't use without the game being broken.)

I can't get a refund for this rubbish, (because EA,) so how about you stop messing about with it, because it worked fine before you did.

I feel your pain. Still doesn't make the game unplayable. Maybe not playworthy but not unplayable.

Tell that to all those people playing (or rather not playing atm) on Xbox360 / PS3 or those gettng their save files corrupted.

Yes, your next patch will most likely include the dupe "fix". The only thing the patch truly fixed for me was Solas's quest What Lies Dormant, it was unobtainable before.

Maaaan I just had the strongest sense of deja vu. So weird. I do indeed play on normal and I also played Origins and I just never used the tac cam there either so meh. And they lied, yes but that still doesn't mean the feature is broken. It's just not as advertised.

I don't see what me saying the banter bug does not make the game unplayable has to do with a bug actually making the game unplayable.

Patch 3 removed the exploits in my game, which is fine as I didn't use them anyway, but some of the other supposed fixes didn't really 'fix' anything.

Examples:

  • Varric's pants just ran off with Bianca while Solas was introducing himself. Again.
  • Dialogue in cut scenes still rather choppy at times.
  • Party banter seems to be triggering less often than before.

Honestly, while I'm not gonna roll around on the forums in the throes of a temper tantrum over it, I'm perturbed by the fact that graphical issues related to those of us who run SLI or Crossfire rigs haven't been properly addressed. Updating drivers hasn't solved the problem; the only option available to me is to disable Crossfire.

Also, why is it taking so long for the unobtainable mosaic pieces issue to be fixed? It seems like such an easy thing to move them a wee bit so that they can be picked up.

So, Patch 4 (3? 5? There's still a debate) is coming for PS4? The famous patch which "fixes" useful exploits and breaks party banter even more?

Thanks for bringing back some communication..  As you can see, it goes a very long way, even when things are bad.. Little updates of the goings on keep th impatient at bay, myself included!

Seeing that "Balance" is being looked into is nice.. But in al honesty, balance usually ruins it for alot of people, as it mroe often than not, just ends with countless nerfs, rather than buffing the weak abilties, or fixing what is flat out not working! (Reaver is a good example of not fixing, and just doing what was quickest). So many classes have m islabeled tooltips, or ability/passives that do not work.. I really hope they get fixed, as opposed to taking the easy route, and just nerfing everything else..

That said, itd be nice to read that the PC UI, m+kb controls, and maybe Tact Cam are not completely off the table.. The behaviors are also a joke, and the only way many of us get the AI to function, is to have everything follow themselves.. Thats not an intended design feature, im sure! Your previous games had finesse, and took some skill to setup, and have your Team work like a well oiled machine.. Now we have 4 Hero's who just Leeroy Jenkins everything, or stand there doing nothing..

Edit: I too have been having 2-3 times the load times since patch 3, with no change from 4! Im talking from 15second laod screens, to as much as SIX MINUTES ive counted!

also recently noticed that, upon leaving skyhold and traveling to camps (most noticeably the dalish camp in the plains), one or more of my party members arrives with half-health. this is a new phenomena, since the patch.

most annoying.

I was wondering about that.  I kept wondering what had attacked the group while traveling between point A and point B when there were no obvious baddies around.

So, Patch 4 (3? 5? There's still a debate) is coming for PS4? The famous patch which "fixes" useful exploits and breaks party banter even more?

I'm definitely staying offline on my ps4. I'll keep an eye on the forum here to see how it affects people who do get it. So far, I'm not feeling very confident considering what I've read about the patch for PC players. It seems to break more than it fixes.

To be honest, I haven't experienced all that many bugs and glitches so far. Sure, there are a few. I had my game crash once after about 70 hours in my first playthrough. But that's nothing compared to the several crashes(freezing) I had during DA:O and DA2 in a shorter timeframe. The game also plays a lot smoother than the previous 2 DA games, with almost no drop in framerates or stuttering. I only got that after about 60/70 hours, and still only rarely. I have some minor audio problems when entering a new area, but only for a few secs.(No menu sounds, no walking sounds etc). My audio did bug out severely once, about an hour ago. It completely vanished. No audio whatsoever. But exiting the game and restarting fixed that. I've also had 0 problems during cutscenes. Literally 0.(Though I hope I haven't jinxed myself now) And so far as I can tell, I'm able to start and complete every quest. There are a few other very minor glitches(not being able to harvest a certain piece of metal for instance), but those aren't really worth mentioning. And my party banter seems to be doing just fine. I get it quite often, definitely not as rarely as I've een some people posting about.

So all things considered, I'm quite happy with how my game plays. I also don't mind the dupe glitch. In fact, I welcome it. I actually thought they put it in on purpose, considering how it only works with crafting mats and it's been in DA:O and DA2 as well. So like I said before, I'll just wait a while to see how people react to this patch that will 'fix' some bugs, before downloading it and finding out it doesn't fix anything I need fixing but does break a bunch of things that were working just fine.

That being said, I'd just like to say I simply love this game and I'll be putting in many more hours. :)

Mouse to move works fine and, if you don't like holding a button, use auto run - we can do that you know, tap a key, no holding buttons, just steer with the mouse. What I would enjoy very much is if they took a lesson form the Rift UI and how it allows players to customize it but also allows a player to have a very basic UI if desired. I'd love to see that in DAI, especially the three side bars that you can map to keys if you wish but that can also be clicked on to use whatever is there and, are optional, you don't have to display them at all if you don't want them.

Banter is fine for me, but I consider any remark from my party banter and, I know it is not working at all for some. It may be a case of what individuals consider banter vs what the devs consider banter or, a conflict with certain hardware or software if you have complete silence from your party. We need to clarify what the devs call banter, then start isolating the commonality of the silent games that the ones who have banter do not have. I know that's a huge task and one Bioware can;'t realistically do but, we can and, they can use our information to either fix it or, recommend a workaround, or something. We may also find it's as simple as making sure a certain process isn't running in the background when we play.

I used to get DirectX errors once in a blue moon. Since upgrading to Patch 4 I've crashed several times per playing sessions. Been seeing more graphics issues too (floating NPCs).

BioWare should hire about 10 of us forum goers (including me of course) to beta test all the versions of DA:I in like a three week period so we can find all the bugs and they can fix them.

I hope this patch 4 fixes following for consoles:

1) corrupted saves 2) text-size issue 3) voice bugs 4) crashing while auto-saving 5) disk unreadable error 6) texture-pop in's and them not loading at all

But seriously speaking.. it won't probaply fix any of those. Maybe it will fix key's not dropping for multiplayer but that's probaply it. Sigh.
