Where exactly should the install be happening at? It looks like it keeps trying to install to the X86 folder on the partition Windows 7 is on, but my game is on another partition.

Unfortunately, the servers appear to be down currently.
The game is worth playing without the DLC untill they're back up, you aren't missing out on anything in the first couple of hours.

My "DownLoaded Content" (DLC) was working fine and was fully functional for weeks with NO INTERNET CONNECTION, then all of a sudden, out of the blue, *WHAM* - I get "unable to suthorize" every time I try to play.
What the HELL is this crap? I've already "authorized" the extra content - why the f*ck should I have to do it every time I play the damn game ?? I payed $50 for this game out of the box, and now I can't play it anymore without an internet connection - that's just plain unacceptable.
It's practically a bait-and-switch scam.
A working internet connection should NEVER be a prerequisite for a single-player game - EVER.
And yes, I know I could start a brand new game from scratch. I don't WANT to, and I shouldn't HAVE to.
There had better be a fix for this, or I'll NEVER buy another E/A Game.
And where's the Support for this game anyway?? All I see on this site are a bunch of 'moderated' customer blogs. Is this game unsupported, or what?

Just play the game without DLC, Bioware does a good enough job at it. DLC doesn't really add much.
I would play with DLC but being online all the time means sacrificing vital framerates (I use AMD fusion and shutdown wireless connection during gameplay). This is definitely something that shouldn't be there, but hey, guess what? EA continues to punish legit customers and pirates still get away with all of it anyway.

Your suggestion to disable wireless *after* "authorization" is a good one, and I've actually been doing that, but it doesn't really solve the problem. Enough siad, I suppose.
As for "Bioware does a good enough job", I have to respectfully disagree. For $50, their game engine basically sucks - the player can't jump or drive, there's no option for keyboard-only operation, and the program runs like molasses on a dedicated 2.4 Ghz dual-core processor XP sys with 3 Gig memory (i.e. my system). Compare that with Orange Box, which is much less expensive, and has none of those shortcomings. Not to mention that Orange Box allows unrestricted non-internet gameplay, even if you bought it over the internet.
Of course, Orange Box has won 60 or so awards for excellence, so..
Anyway, I agree completely that " This is definitely something that shouldn't be there". I think the thing that urks me the most, however, is that it *wasn't* there until recently - it just magically appeared one day. I was happily bypassing the "not logged on" nag screen, and playing with the DLC completely intact for weeks. What else are they going to change when I'm not looking? Maybe they'll decide to download some confidential information off my hard drive, and sell it it to the highest bidder - who knows? Anything is possible when you can force your customers to be online, especially with a proprietary protocol. Something to think about, huh?

1. When it comes to DLC on the PC, the intended functionality is that you have to authenticate the content online once and then you should not have to be connected online for subsequent play sessions. There is a known issue where a few people are experiencing a problem requiring them to be connected each time they play using the DLC. We are continuing to investigate the problem.
2. Other than the 1.01 patch, we have not made any changes to the game so if it "worked fine for weeks" and now you're experiencing a problem, perhaps something else has changed on your system that could explain the difference in behaviour.

Before I get into that though, I should mention that I do appreciate your clarification of the DLC authorization process' intended purpose. That makes sense. I can certainly understand the need to "authenticate the content online once". Having to authorize it every single time you play however, is a serious bug, and should not be taken lightly, for the reasons I've already outlined.
Anyway, enough pontificating. To make a long story short, I found out that this only occurs if you SAVE a game WHILE ONLINE. Apparently, I must have recently done just that, which led to the manifestation of this bug.
So if this is happening to you, you have to do the following:
1) Enable internet access (i.e. enable wireless, plug in your cable, whatever).
2) Invoke Mass Effect 2.
3) Go to Extras->Options->Online, and set both options to NO.
4) Exit Mass Effect 2.
5) Invoke Mass Effect 2 (again).
6) Use Alt-tab to switch back to Windows.
7) Disable internet access (i.e. disable wireless, unplug your cable, whatever)..
8) Go back to the running Mass Effect 2.
9) Re-Save all saved games that you saved while online. If you don't remember which ones they were, you'll have to Re-Save them all.
10) Exit Mass Effect 2
From that point on, as long as internet access is disabled before invoking Mass Effect 2, there's no problem. Interestingly enough though, if internet access IS enabled when you invoke ME2, it will pop up the "unable to authorize DLC" message - pretty weird.
And that's it! Thanks for listening - signing off..

Thank you for this reply, it looks like I won't have to play without DLC once the future patch is out then.
Only played with DLC to check out the new stuff but never played through the game with it enabled. Nothing is worse then trying to load your playthrough and your network is down.

Same problem, it always comes up before the game has a chance to load cerberus as well.
I get that too. I've bunged in my code online, but ME2 says that it's already been used and won't activate on my account in game.

So just try to disable any firewall. It might help.
edit: Reading JMC002's second post it might just have been coincidence

I'm gonna have to agree with most of you, I think that HAVING to be online in order to play is asinine, but really, what are we gonna do about it? The only way to really hurt EA would to be for all of us to not buy any DLC or any of their games... yea, like thats gonna happen.
Anyways, hope that someone can find a work-around, instead of just ****ing incessantly.

Now I kinda fell a little stupid to pay money before getting hands on the stuff.
Well, lesson learnt, keep it in memory.

However, it is summer, and participation on forums such as this one are way, WAY down, so large percentages of questions won't be answered now. Whether or not I know any specifics, I do know that I have seen the same old question come up very often. The in-house Search is a weak kitten, but does exist, and does work, to an extent.
It is also possible to add a "site" directive to a Google search that points back to here, so that you can expand the list of criteria you can search for (the Social Forums' Seach function only finds a word in the subject line, or two very short words, also in the subject line, and only 51 of them, and only th every oldest.
I would use the Google option instead of waiting for an answer that may never be given while the question is even on one of the top ten pages of the index here.

I'm having the same issue. I installed the Firewalker pack a month or so ago but never went back into ME2 and played it since I already beat the main game. Now that I've gotten Overlord, I've gone back in the game and it says it can't authenticate the Firewalker DLC on my account, even though I log into the Cerberus Network and everything.
Anyone have any luck finding a real fix yet?
Edit: I just tried reinstalling the Firewalker pack, and luckily, my account felt like activating it this time. Problem solved!
