Dunno about choking on tities but I'm choking with laughter.
****** choking....that should be an ability in the next game. Isabela would be a master at it.

Well going by that logic you'd be unstoppable with Isabela in the party...
Quite right. And the breast is history. I mean rest.
Chances are, you won't be buying their future games then. These guys are incredibly stubborn with their design choices. We can only dream of a day when a no-holds-barred dark fantasy DA game will be released.
That'll be DA4. Skyrim was popular when they started development on DAI, and Game of Thrones is popular now, so..time for yet another drastic switch.

Man.. I hope you're right. I quite like the idea of witnessing bros and sis's fking, likeable characters getting killed every five seconds... relentless swearing in UK accent form and prostitutes getting told how ridiculous they sound when they're doing it...
Oh. Not to mention the blood, heads flying off, etc... it's gotta have that.
What a lovely dream. ![]()
I was watching a video on youtube, and this person is able to say what I was saying in a better way. You can skip up to around 15 minutes.
Just thought I'd thought bring it up if anyone was still interested in the topic and wanted a much better choice of words to describe it.

If I have to name one thing that completely killed it for me, it is this: INCONSISTENCY.
Bioware's been jaw-droppingly inconsistent in various aspects throughout the Dragon Age games. Instead of gradually building upon the strengths and successes of the first title (DAO), which BTW is an approach that have worked very well so far for Bethesda and CD Projekt RED, the guys at Bioware don't seem to know what they want to do with the franchise.
3 games in the series, all with completely different art styles, different (and sometimes inexplicably stupid) mechanics, dead characters and antagonists coming back to life, changes in the narrative formula, lore aspects such as blood magic being omitted entirely, etc etc.
I blame the executive producers and the creative directors. These guys are treating a treasure of a franchise irresponsibly and quite frankly, like a pack of 9-year old school boys.
I would not be the least surprised if EA shuts down the DA franchise.
Just imagining what the next game is going to be....but I'd rather not.

But Inquisition has sold bucketloads and has a giant pile of awards. Why would they not make another one?

Indeed, it has sold bucket loads. But do we know if it has even made a profit? No.
And as for those awards, they mean about as much as getting a star on your forehead in kindergarten for good behaviour.

Since when? Every DA game is radically different from the last, especially in art style. DAO was sort of generic RPG-ish, DA2 was mid-90s darker and edgier, and DAI is Skyrim ran through the Matrix because every other outfit is a leather coat. Then there's the elves and qunari, who are completely different in every game..
As far as the OP - DAI's kind of scrubbed down a lot of things to make it more appealing to..well..someone. I can't tell you because Bioware (clumsily) aims at seventeen different audiences at once, so there might be a bit of overlap.
I have a standing bet that the next game will 180 on it. If DAI got inspired by Skyrim and that happened in 2011, then DA4 will probably be Game of Thrones-ish, since somebody in marketing will wake up that it's super popular.

Yep. Typical behaviour for a developer that is not confident in their own product, so they will follow the trends, even if it is completely inappropriate for the franchise.

Not to mention you have the CFO of EA talking about what a success the game is, but let's not try to use logic with people who spend their free time habitually complaining about a game they don't like.

Banish the thought that people who actually PLAY the game have a valid opinion of it hey!
More Anita Sarkeesian hate. Man, she sure peeved off a lot of dudes with her series. Nice to know (not really) that some women will white knight for the MRA's. Thanks for the laughs.I was watching a video on youtube, and this person is able to say what I was saying in a better way. You can skip up to around 15 minutes.

Tell me more about this "Barney and Friends Explore Thedas" game featuring assassinations, I am intrigued.
Blood Magic has always had a heavy portrayal as an "evil" form of magic throughout the franchise with someone objecting to this label like Merill in DA2 and Solas in DAI. Additionally, how... would you go about stealing the dreadnought and its secrets during that mission? It is out in water, it is guarded by a lot of Qunari and if you are talking about salvaging it then it blows up leaving only debris to sink.

I'd like to be able to fire up an online game without hearing "b****" and "c***" every minute and everyone assuming I'm a dude because of my nym (hint: there's no way to tell my gender by it---every single dude except one assumed I was a dude in damp so far). Sexism and misogyny is the reals (and racism big time and homophobia). It's why I usually don't mic up. Cause when I do, it's almost always "You're a girl/woman/female?" Yes, I am. There are many of us who game. Most of us don't identify our gender because of dudebro gaming culture. It's the behavior that's a problem.
TL; DR version: Gamergater can no longer ****** to video game ******.
Whose idea was it to resurrect this thread?
Metalsmith, the OP himself revived his thread.
NOT TRUE OP... women do run like girls. It's very feminine.
It's only when they sit down, or walk in cut scenes, that they behave like men or guerrillas.
I agree on your Grey Wardens point. They were idiots. At least we see a few of them protest (how stupid it is) before they get the murder-knife.
Still - what an incredibly stupid idea. I'm not sure why Stroud and Blackwall were able to essentially 'ignore' the calling, but all the other wardens go into panic suicide mode.... It just makes their plan look all the more insane and unbelievable.
Morrigan - well dude.. you're young still, so I'm gonna give you some rather disappointing news. When you get older, find a nice girl, get married and eventually have babies... the exact same thing is going to happen to 'your wife'.
Yes, her knockers are eventually going to deflate and start hanging down by her waistline. Usually.. about 1 year after 'child-birth'. Sad as it may be.. babies destroy those precious life giving mammies....
Well, I hate to break this one, but we already have a spoiler warning on this thread. Blackwall wasn't a real Warden, he's an Orlesian pretender that took the place of a dead Warden that was attempting to make him into a Warden. He never did the Joining so he won't hear the Calling.
As for the rest of this, there's a general lack of attractiveness among all NPCs not just the females. The theory I have is that its punishment for whining about the helmets covering people's faces in ME3 multiplayer. Since they gave all of the MP characters back stories and placed many of them about your keep, that's partially to do with it. We can't have a pretty Keeper or Templar because in the new Thedas they don't exist to be had.
The change in Morrigan's demeanor is a good one as she's learned how to set an example for her child, but its also so she stays low key in the Orlesian society.
The removal of Blood magic is a stylized choice as its too big an issue to have along with the Fade and Corypheus. It would have detracted too much from the story they were already working with. Plus with the breaking of the Circles and the Templar order, almost all mages are now considered apostates so it doesn't matter if they're practicing Blood Magic or Shapeshifting in this iteration of the Dragon Age franchise.
I quite enjoyed DAI but my main gripe is that they decided to turn a character from a DLC that not everyone played or bought into the head villain of an entire game. He was slain and brought back just to be a macguffin in the machinations of the Dread Wolf.

The irony is that, the first game, DA:O, was already Game of Thronish, but they threw it all away in DA:I in a misguided quest for a few more dollars by trading away its soul. I don't have the source, but David Gaider mentioned A Song of Ice and Fire (the book series on which the TV show is based) as one of his inspirations for DA:O. One can see clear analogues in DA:O to the world of Westeros. The Grey Wardens are Thedas' Watchers on the Wall. Both organisations recruit from the dregs of society - the criminals, the outcasts. Both organisations steadfastly stay neutral to political conflicts to focus on defending the world from being overrun and destroyed by monsters (Darkspawn/White Walkers). But most of all, DA:O is a story about political manoeuvrings, just as A Song of Ice and Fire is.
It is sad to see the franchise being watered down in favour of catering to those who want to dig ores, pick herbs, and plant flags, and watch flashy effects.

DA2 was dark? Where? Amidst the cartoon network style combat, I missed any darkness.
