I'd rather try my luck through mandatory military service than wait in my tiny cell for some horny templar to come clean my pipes in the middle of the night, and then turn me into tranquil if I say anything.

Right....because clearly every circle was as bad as Kirkwall, going against what everything and everyone in universe says.....

I added some: Besides one would assume that Tevinter knows which ones are fit for service and which are not. It´s not like they would just pack all into carts and drive them to the front. People need to be trained and equipped. Too old, too young or too sick people would have to do something else.  And the service time is still only temporary, unlike the circles which will last for the lifetime. Which is worse?

Really? As the post of above you states. The Tranquil. Any person that is to old or to weak will more then likely be used as a sacrifice for something else. As for the young, that is anyone's guess. I would imagine those with little magic potentail would not see the end of their "indentured service", those that do show potential would be indoctrinated into tervinter soceity. A society that is the beacon of mage freedom where everyone is free to be themsevles or not, if Dorian is anything to go by.

It was rather wide spread, you are kidding yourself if you think otherwise. People do not rebel against nice and friendly people.

That is assuming the Imperium would go ahead and sacrifice everyone. It is not the Mordor you see, people actually live there and prosper. Even mundanes, shocking I know.

Entitled whiners do. Case and point Anders. The guy came from the circle that let Ines the Botanist wander around as she pleased. Yet still railed against "oppression".

Kirkwall was the exception, not the rule.

Yeah, because the Tevinters treat their slaves so well do they? We see what they do to people under them, look at the Tranquil. Also barely even bothering to point out this was literally one guy who was told to **** off even by Meredith.

Besides, you're making up a choice that doesn't exist. There was no Templar army ready to lock the mages back up. It was a fabrication. One that Fiona and her mages completely failed to see through. She wasn't evil, she was just criminally incompetent. A grand Enchanter who has seen so much as she has seen, and who has hundreds of mages at her command, should not have been so easily fooled by a Magister and his cronies, espeially when said magister's claim was aburdly easy to actually verify. Yet she was. She's an idiot and a fool.

One guy hardly can be the representative of the whole system. You think people all around would rise against opression because their afternoon tea was cold?

Given how Fiona's mages behave even after they forked up royally, yes.

Can I just point out how you tried, minutes ago, to paint Alrik as the norm amongst Templars and assured us, without any sort of proof, that his behavior was widespread?

Slaves and tranquil are different thing. We are now talking about a bunch of mages who sign a contract for citizenship. Before they sign the contract they each can decide what to do. It´s not like Fiona can actually twist their arms if someone is not willing to go Tevinter.

There was no templar army? Well who was that guy in Val Ruveaux telling people hes going to chop mages to pieces?

I wasn´t talking about Alrik, but he was one busy fellow yes. But if you play the games and read codex then you will find out more about it.

By that logic the templars are justified of their imprisonment of the mages. People do not lock up harmless people who pose no danger to others.

Truth is, both sides are wrong. Templars shouldn't abuse their power, but mages need to stop pretending that releasing them wouldn't pose a substantial danger to everyone else.

You mean little children who show signs of magical abilities? Rather cold there don´t you think?

Truth is, the circle system was faulty at the start. Mages should have been given a right to have a life outside circle. You start locking people up for just being born for certain type you will have rebellion in your hands.

You could think that, then again people can be rather confused after being released of a life long imprisonment.

I'm thinking that maybe a hogwards but with templars is the best approach.

... and who proceeded to go to the other side of the country and sit there doing nothing. Which even one lousy scouting mission would have assured Fiona of, such a massive army cannot hide in the Hinterlands.

A scouting mission she didn't do. Because she's incompetent.

She signed them into slavery. Every last one of them, children included. That's why she starts being upset when Alexius says he will train the children to war. Because the original agreement called for them to still be slaves, only Fiona was stupid enough to believe Alexius wouldn't use his position of strength to change the terms of the contract.
