V, right? Or... if we're including TNG movies, I suppose you might be watching Insurrection.  I don't really hate any of them, but clearly some are better than others :)

Btw, I will be dedicating the weekend to The Witcher.  I have struggled many times to get into a groove with this damned thing, but I want to give it one last good faith effort.  Question is, if I just flat out cannot get past the weirdness of the first game, would it cripple my potential enjoyment of 2 or 3 of I end up bypassing the first one and just going on to # 2?

Hmm ... I jumped in at 3 - there is no way I could play the others as PS4 ..... so.  Also, I've read the combat mechanics were difficult on the first 2, now I don't know whether it's a console thing but I'm finding it entirely engaging.  It's no secret I love it but I also love DA.  If ya don't like it ya don't like it, I wouldn't sweat it.   Yoinks, don't mind if I do!

Ooooh...  Okay, yeah, see, for me to enjoy those new ones, I just have to pretend I am watching a generic scifi flick that isn't related to Star Trek.  In that perspective, they are great flicks, they'll just never be "Star Trek" to me.  I loved TMP, but then I went to see it as a little kid in the theatre after getting hooked on TOS reruns on channel 41 with dad.

*drinks to fond memories*

Hehe, you, dear Lustre, can always share my bacon.  As regards Witcher, I am going to be so pissed at myself if I cannot get into it, considering I've bought them all.  And actually, bought 1 and 2 twice since I already had them on Steam, but then saw them on the GOG sale last week and.... yeah, I'm stupid that way.

I don't know....*sigh* far be it for me to start a debate in here though we seem to be pretty good about keeping such things simple.  And while I can agree about the first one...I can't really about Into Darkness.  To me it was one of the most Star Treky Star Trek productions we have probably gotten in a long while.  It was topical, had a moral dillema (several of them actually) and it was....I don't know really hopeful.  Sure it got really big on the action and I think that was a big mistake for the movie considering it buried most of its philosophical themes, so most people just go 'generic action flic' (meaning no offense), to where there was a lot of philosophy to it.  It had its problems certainly, but I liked it and liked it as a Trek movie...

Though don't mind me considering I have not been a huge Trek fan since I started watching B5 and SG-1. :P

And Benedict killed it as Khan. :P

Using my movie ranking system I use for other movies, in comparison for Trek movies.

Tier 1 (Really good)

Insurrection

Voyage Home

Wrath of Khan.

Into Darkness.

Tier 2: (Like)

The rest of them.

Tier 3: (dislike)

TMP.

The casting for the new Star Trek films was genius imo (except for maybe Scotty just don't see Pegg in that role) and that alien thing that's running around with him, WTF?  *Drinks to the Kotaku thread still going*

ETA thought #1:  HA!  your ninja was defeated by me being in the  background with it already quoted whilst I got link for image!

ETA thought #2:  it's not  the casting, btw.  The casting -is- great for the new movies.  It's the.. heart and soul that is not, imho, Trek.  I respect that others feel differently, of course, and the second one did do better at trying to capture it than the first, but it still just... *shrug*  not Trek.

Its Sulu that bugs me.  Pegg seems to sometimes be Scotty and sometimes not Scotty.  And then Uhurha....but the big three is pretty spot on.  I even like Chris Pine more then Shatner. :P

Chris Pine did a fantastic job as Kirk. I enjoy watching his performance.

Thanks for letting me share your meat  ....

Seriously wouldn't worry about not getting into the Witcher - you can't force yourself to enjoy a game.  It doesn't hurt that I enjoy watching Geralt running around, I'm shallow that way ...

Hmmm interesting, no I get them all except Pegg, and it's not because he doesn't look like him either.

Pine is fantastic as Kirk, his mannerisms were spot on.  Urban is McCoy reincarnated.  I have to admit that the fact that they got it so close with the cast made it very enjoyable for me.
