Dienne was in her cabin in the Normandy cuddling with Garrus and giggling like a schoolgirl when Comm Specialist Traynor called for her. “Sorry to disturb you, ma’am but your presence is required in Skyhold immediately, it seems urgent”

“Ugh… duty calls, sorry love but we’ll have to leave the tie breaker for tonight” Dienne winked at her turian lover and swiftly started to get dressed.

When she arrived at Skyhold she couldn’t believe her eyes. Lightning traps being set off, naked templars running around, minor structures set on fire and what looked like a wheelbarrow at the door of the building that soon would be the new Herald’s Rest.

“What’s going on here?! Someone find Josephine and Cullen. I need a report at once!”

Dienne followed the mayhem to the new Herald’s Rest and opened the door to find some of her fellow DrinkQuisitors  around an unconscious Beren. “Andraste’s hairy eyeball! Beren! What happened to him? What’s all this madness?”. She looked at Ashaantha, who was trying to conceal a mischievous smile and a couple spirits bottles.

Dienne grabed one of the bottles and closed her eyes while leaning back on a nearby plaideweave couch –uuhh, comfy!-.

Excerpt from the diary of Lynroy....

 

Huh, who knew a firemine roasts a nug to tasty perfection? I wonder if it would work with Druffalo. Anyway, the brothers and I waited a few hours after sunset to sneak around the village. We split up, Staches going one way, me and Bray the other, agreeing to meet up outside the Gull and Latern after an hour. We sneaked around, poking into alleyways, looking for anything suspicious when we spotted a hooded figure moving quickly between in the shadows of the street lamps. Actually, Bray almost ran into them. I had to yank him back down the alley so he didn't. He's not good with Subterfuge at all. We watched quietly as the person made their way up the street. Toward the Gull and Lantern. Even at this hour the tavern was doing a roaring trade. We waited a bit, then followed our mystery person. 

 

Our target didn't go through the front door, but circled around the back. There was a small set of stairs leading down to what looked like a basement door. The stairs would be easy to overlook unless you knew they were there. Decided it was best to wait for Staches then figure out what we were going to do next. While we waited, more people sneaked down the stairs. There was something going on in that basement. Where was Staches? And then someone grabbed me from behind.

 

Oh boy, did I almost jump out of my skin! I wrenched myself free, nocked an arrow, and aimed it at the person who grabbed me. Staches. Seriously, how old are you? He was overcome with silent laughter.

 

"Watch where you're pointing that, cous. I'm sorry, it was just too easy!" he managed to whisper between laughing. "You were concentrating so hard on that door."

 

Ugh, my heart was racing something fierce. "Oh, yeah. Ha ha."

 

He wiped tears of laughter from his eyes. "Anyway, while you two were skulking back here I decided to actually go in the tavern and have a look around. Found a secret trap door in a dark corner of the kitchen. I saw the bartender go down there for a good while."

 

"So we go in and find out what the Hell is down there."

 

"Hold up, exactly how are you planning to do that? Just walk in the door?"

 

"Yes, Bray."

 

"Oh, okay. Just wondering when any of this is going to start making some sense."

 

"Staches, sneak back into the kitchen and go through the trapdoor. Bray, take my hood, you and I walk through that door. It doesn't seem to be guarded or require a password. Let's do this."

 

Staches and I went into stealth mode and off we went. Bray put on the hood because hoods were totally in fashion at this mysterious basement establishment. Didn't want to be out of place. He pushed the door open as if he owned the place and I followed before he shut the door. I wish I hadn't. I found the chicken abomination. I wish I hadn't. Bray stopped short as well. He was caught between utter horror and amusement. We had walked into a basement tavern with a stage set up to entertain folks. I honestly don't know why people were not barfing. On the stage, wailing and dancing horribly, was the MC with back up dancers. I'd've taken a room full of Venatori spies trying to kill me, but nope. This was really happening. 

 

"Don't just stand there, go find a table and order a drink....or seven," I prodded Bray.

 

"I'm going to need one of Paragon's PENIS kits."

 

Staches joined us a short time later laughing away. "No wonder no one wanted to talk about this place! I'd be embarrassed as well. Must bring in a good bit of extra business for the bartender."

 

I guess the lyrium smuggler wasn't lying. Asked around and MC struck out on her own. Bartender was a little desperate for some extra coin he made a deal with it, something so horrifying and freaky, people were going to want to see it and then get drunk to forget it. Dead end. But why was I set up to come here in the first place?
