why does food have to be tied down to a season?

Seeing how picky you are at pies, just have to ask.. you do know which he likes before making this right? I've been the giver of a meal my significant other dislikes a lot, it's very awkward and embarrassing so just wanted to ask..

It's something that I learned from watching cooking shows over the years. I think it has to do with buying food in season for maximum taste and freshness.

Oh gods, yes, I checked. Haha, he likes everything and luckily isn't allergic to anything either.

Some food (mostly fruits) are seasonal to get them freshest yes, only way to do those particular ones, but that doesn't force meals like pumpkin pie to be autumn only.. just sayin' . I can buy pumpkin year round and it always tastes the same to me, butternut pumpkin is delicious too but it is a winter grown .. vegie? and I think only Aus/NZ calls it pumpkin.. might be butternut squash to all you other weirdos.

Famous last words! my boyfriend said he liked everything and surprise, surprise, I managed to cook the one meal he can't stand.. I haven't made tuna mornay for 7 years, since that night actually.

I'm a match-y/match-y type. I like certain dishes at certain times of the year, lol.

I'm going to make something fairly innocuous, I'm hoping he'll enjoy it.

I'm the "cook what I feel like eating at the time" type. if I want to eat Christmas pudding in winter I'll go right ahead and make it, lol. nothing stopping me, or my cravings. Being the only person who ever makes any food in this household everyone gets to eat whatever the heck I give them :P

...

Christmas is in the middle of summer where I live, just in case someone forgets not only is my time zone a day ahead in date, but seasons are opposite to you NH folks.

My boyfriend has never, ever seen snow.

Not to mention everything there is poisonous or terrifyingly large...

He's never been skating then?? I've been playing in the snow since I was 18 months!

*falls off her bar stool laughing at the scary/poisonous animals thing being brought up again*

you do realise I was born here, and never been bitten by anything more terrifying then an ant. and a wasp. Spider bites, snake bites etc actually aren't a common occurrence, and the life-threatening ones even more rare. It's just a misconception of this country that we revel in reminding the world of.

I've been ice skating, loved it but all the rinks closed down when I was a teen. There may be one or two still open in Melbourne but that's a stupid long plane flight away, like 4-5 hours? probably more. I never asked if bf has before.

But... you have spiders bigger than dinner plates. Ones that take up residence in showers!!

Aww, that's no good. Ice rinks are the best! Y'all should come visit me, I'll take you out skating under the stars.

I've never seen a spider bigger then my hand.. and that particular one isn't known for biting people. Good at being a household insect control though. Sure spiders, and snakes, can get bloody huge but it's more likely you could visit Australia for a month and not even see a spider, let alone anything worse then pets and birds lol.

Spoiler

very, very, extremely, 1-in-a-million rare occurrence that the rest of the world thinks happens every hour of every day.. :P

Say hello to a golden orb spider and it's tree snake dinner.

edit: spoilered now the shockiness has worn off.

oh I should point out, that big golden orb spider in the pic? venom of that spider species is non-lethal to humans. You will likely just get sore around the bite area. rare cases get asthma-like symptoms, allergic reaction and a blister around the bite. Black Widow spiders are the spider to stay the *bleep* away from.

Hakkonite bow. I forget what it's called, but you get the schematic in that temple at the end of Hakkon main quest line.

I have a snake phobia. Dunno if it's a genetic thing.. or an experience thing. Maybe both. My dad also has a massive phobia, and he isn't scared of much.. come to think of it, neither am I.

Of course, doesn't help that when I was younger I found a snake in my room. Or.. while in north Queensland, I was playing on a concrete area, covered with leaves, then suddenly a green slithery thing pops up out of nowhere.. or how bout going to the beach in the middle of winter, following a dirt path and suddenly a snake slithers across the path.. in the middle of fecking winter, I repeat!

My standpoint is: if you're going to release a game on old gen, you gotta maintain it, otherwise it isn't really fair on the people. But on the other hand, they probably shouldn't have released it on old gen hardware if it doesn't have the guts to handle it..
