I wanted to learn to play the piano but my mother wouldn't let me, didn't want me to get distracted from my studies she said :/

Shame because learning a musical instrument actual helps with that. My mom couldn't stop me even if she tried.

She didn't want to risk me wanting to dedicate to music instead of going to University.

To be actually afraid of your child finding an intellectually engaging passion to dedicate themself to? I don't know what to say, and I also don't have the right to.

 

....since this is a discussion forum however, I will say this:

 

When you're slacking off, you are slacking off ontop  on whatever you are doing (Hi there, Donko, welcome to the middle of my speech. I'm glad you enjoy it). However, concerning your mind with art is never directly responsible for academic failure - that's like saying a boxing coach doesn't like his team to jog, cause he's afraid it will make them less dedicated athletes.

 

I'm usually not as brash as that, but that is a downright despicable thing to do to a child. I do hope sincerely you're just oversimplifying her intentions to keep the answer short.

Yes agree with you; and yes, I'm simplifying my answer but the base of her argument is still that I wouldn't be able to live off that at least in here; in the same way she kept my brother from getting too seriously into tennis.

I have rough sketches of everyone, that is everyone who I'm confident I can reasonably characterize (you were easy  no armour).  Good job I don't have a deadline.
