Age of Wonders 3, Endless Legend or Pillars of Eternity.

 

Haven't heard much about the first too but PoE is supposed to be really good. But it's very close to the old school RPGs like Baldur's Gate, which is too complex for my young brain at this point

The embarrassing part is I tried both Neverwinter Nights and Planescape Torment and couldn't figure out how to get out of the damn prelude. I don't like having to think! I just wanna kill **** and shave my pixel pubes to boink my pixel girlfriend..

Just when you thought I was gonna say something serious and productive, I turned it around at the end.

I don't think the CRPGs (at least the ones I have played) are turn based.. it's in real time but I think you can pause to sort out your tactics, etc.

 

Ironically I don't mind turn based. I have a guilty pleasure for JRPGs, which works in the same manner. And Pokemon.. never forget that.

 

Hell even Hearthstone, something more recent for me, is turn based. And I love it, best game I've played in a while and didn't have to pay a cent.
