Blackwall. Another character I'm meh about.

Yeah, did notice how drastically he gains or loses weight depending on the armor you put him in.

Advice.. don't. I felt sick (figuratively) over reading just a couple of the posts.

He is one of my favourite Dragon Age characters.

The reason for both my fascination and his comparatively small fanbase, is the fact that he's up against probably the flashiest cast so far. I mean, the secret Elven trickster god, the mega-overdrive-cool-breaks-all-the-rules Qunari, the Human bloody Spirit, the first Tevinter group member who's also the first real male homosexual character etc. etc. Blackwall seems almost comically normal -even after his revelation- compared to those folks.

He doesn't have any superpowers or connections; he's just a burnt-out middle aged guy, who wants to make himself as useful as possible. When he gives advice, it's something he's learned himself by failing at it, and it's never condescending tales of wisdom. Ironically given his main plot, I value him as the most genuine of all the companions - I admire his loyalty & probably ridiculous insistence to be chivalric, even though nobody would take that seriously coming from a guy like him. But he doesn't do it to impress, but because he thinks it's just right.

That sounds pretty tacky, but yeah, I can relate to that, and I confess there is something appealing about the phantasy of becoming a big, clichée hero late in your life, and even after all you may have or have not done during your "peak". Once you have looked back on things in your life genuinely, and decided to take a wholly different course that changes most important things around you, his story means a lot.

*looks around, clears throat*

...piece of my soul, for the lot of you to loot.

Not tacky at all :)

It's refreshing to see someone depict him in that light, other then just liar, betrayer etc etc. I always felt he was lying more to himself then my Inquisitors, always gave him that second chance he needed.

Gently picks up the piece of Dieb's soul he left on the ground and stares in amazement as it turns into a necklace with gold swallow, depicting freedom and hope

I love it when I happen across some dialogue I've never heard before. especially after how many times I've played this game.

Just got the freezing footsies banter from Dorian-Iron Bull for the first time.

Yeah, the attitude some folks give him leave me scratching my head. He did a bad thing in his past and has been regretting and trying to make amends ever since. He lies to you about himself (rather poorly) but if you think people are going to be open and honest about the skeletons in their closet then I've got this swanky bridge to sell you. He made no false claims about what he had to offer to the inquisition, namely his sword, and that's all that really matters to me. So long as you do the job you say you are going to do I really don't care if you claim to be Santa Claus.

Ultimately he was judged once by warden Blackwall and I saw no reason to change his verdict.

Bolded line, exactly.

And Blackwall was willing to fight, that is what he joined for, and that's what he did. I tend to see it as the inquisitor sort of pushed him down a different path with their actions, which is why he went and rather publicly turned himself in. I sometimes get a little cranky at Cullen after speaking to Blackwall in the prison, with his tone and such after he wants to atone for what he did in the past, I wish there was a dialogue option to point out Blackwall deserves a chance to atone too also by serving the Inquisition. Though I did always just let him go free during his judgment, where he wants to stay anyway, the first time that happened in the judgment for me it sort of cemented my decision there for all time lol.

Devs being roasted in the MP forums for publicly announcing discontinuing the active support for DAIMP on 360/PS3.

My favourite part was when Billy Buskell said "3) If you're gonna group message your FL to flame this thread, at least make sure there's no devs on this list ... seriously."

I need to recycle that image. That episode... I don't know how to handle it. I actually screamed out of anger or shock or whatever, that my brother came up and asked me what the f*ck I'm doing...

Though it's good to know the passionate mp'ers can be just as hostile as the passionate sp-onliers..

And I just got myself confused with trying to semi-break a player base into two indefinite groups...
