I think (I haven't played it myself) you could compare it to Grand Theft Auto.
First two games were definitely like Grand Theft Auto. The wackiness started getting cranked up in the Third. SRIV is so over the top it's in orbit. That's probably why I liked it. Two remains my favorite, though. Where else can you play a maniac voiced by Charles Shaughnessy?

How many do you have going at once? I have five on the go now and I can tell all of them apart, mostly because they are different races. I have 3 elves (2 females and a male), a dwarf lady and a female qunari Inquisitor going right now.
I do sometimes get confused with how many agents each has recruited and which side quests are done, etc, but I don't get confused with companions and romances. I am romancing Sera in all but one of my playthroughs (because one is a man and Sera isn't into pricks lol)
I should really finish some playthroughs too...
