Just take them out somewhere with you after Skyhold and their spec should show up.

I really wanna do Trespasser with my canon Lavellan. And I rerolled her because I wanted to change some choices. So now I'm stuck before the Grey Wardens, done nearly nothing at all and I'm not in the mood to do it all over again. Also still need to get two DLCs.
