"Do not try to make sense of what you see here. Drink."
And it should be on every wall, so that you'll always will be able to see it.
Today is... slow. I just want to design something for flip sake!
In your booty?
Nope. Too obvious and not safe enough.
Edit:
Besides: I have no idea what you're talking about. Because I took no pictures of nothing I never did.

A story without happy ending is bad?
Gimme ale!
Errrr, whoops. Trespasser spoilers. Lyn is right.

THE THREAD POSTED ABOVE HAS TRESPASSER SPOILERS!
Careful sharing threads with Trespasser spoilers, people.

Thanks, Iron Roy. But too late for me ![]()
Serza, shame on you!
"Escaping reality" does not have to mean "sunshine, bunnies, and big rock candy mountains."

Oh... and with all the hype for the ME Happy Ending mod: Yeah, a lot of people think so. And I am the complete opposite. Mostly happy endings feel so forced to me that I detest them.

Call me crazy but I think Trespasser's ending made sense, happy or no. I think that's what counts.
As I stated in that thread, people really don't get the structure in DA's storytelling. We don't have a fixed heroic protagonist: we play as a person who comes from nothing, gets swept up in the events of the game, and makes a difference accordingly, which is always the stepping stone to the next.
I have nothing against Origins, but it really annoys me when people put it on a godly pedestal; it is no different than any other game in the series. Oh sure, you could be a c*nt for the sake of being the c*nt, but the storyline is still linear; you become a grey warden (nope, you don't get a say in the matter.) you travel around getting support from different sects, and you slay the archdemon. It doesn't really make a difference whether you boinked Leliana, Zevran or Alistair, or all over the above. It doesn't matter whether you kill Connor or kill Isolde, doesn't matter whether you sided with the werewolves or the elves.. the result is the same.
It's like people think that they have the freewill to do whatever they want in a BioWare game. And that is just ridiculous.. this isn't our story. It's BioWare's story. If you want choice.. develop your own game, and implement free-play, sandbox choices.. and see that it isn't easy. Such a game would take years and years to make.

I just feel that a lot of people forget where their DAO love comes from. When it came out, it was so fn unique. There was nothing close to it, it looked good, it had tons of story, it had a mesmerizing rpg world you could get lost in. And that made it perfect. The other DA games always had the problem of expectations, which Origins as brand starter did not have that much.
(I mean... checked the Andromeda forum? All the ****'s crawling up again. Just change the name of the game, the rest always is the same)
Edit: And btw. I'm completely with you. It's Bioware's story. And I don't think they're doing a bad job. I am still entertained and already want the next game ![]()
Edit 2: Regarding expectations... started JoH, wandered around a bit, just thought 'Well, at least on that map there are no sh... *glimpses blue-ish stick in distance* ... iiiiiit!
Wait... what?!
This morning, I went out to find someone who could take care of them. It was difficult... and I contemplated cutting them out once or twice, and then I stumbled onto a redheaded woman far of in the north, in a large city. She said she had done it before, when her friend got one during a drunken night. And hey presto, she removed them for me.
Well... all but one. I like the pirate one. ![]()

I agree.
And keep in mind, the games that came out afterwards were made, taking in consideration fans' feedback.
The fanbase is its own worst enemy.. for instance. Look at DA2's repetitive environments. People whinged. So this time around, they had a crack at open world. People whinged. (I was one of those people, actually. But I don't mind it so much now because I've found a way to make it more enjoyable.. that, and they gave us better loot drops.)
DA2 again: "Playersexual" romance. They made it so everybody was a romance option regardless of gender. People whinged, thought it was unrealistic for the characters. So in DA:I they made sexuality a part of NPC's personalities, and even race-gated some.. Now it's, "Waaaah. Romance options suck for straight men.", or, "Waaaaaah, Sera is a false representation of what a lesbian should be." Or, "Waaaaaah. Josephine's romance sucks cause she doesn't put out."
The list could go on.. and it doesn't help when the fanbase is so diverse either. I mean, in some ways its good.. it comes with role-playing and what not.. but then you have people whinging about "gay agenda" or, "this game is too SJW cause I can't rape kids in the bum cuz itz so cool to do dat in RPGS" and then on the other side, which is ironic, there are people complaining that it's too gritty! Apparently the Sera romance triggers abuse victims. WTF?
But yeah.. maybe I shouldn't go into this.
As somebody who enjoys a range of different games, I like all three. I admit, I thought Inquisition wasn't their best, but Trespasser and the other two DLCs changed that for me.

The thing is, BW wants to advertise these things as "your story". That you make "big, world changing decisions" and then go ahead and make those decisions irrelevant with the script. That kinda pisses people off. Being pretty dishonest and all.
The thing with Origins was that it made an actual effort to juggle player choice with the story so the illusion could be kept and it did so well that people still bring it up as a paragon of player choice.

True.
But I dunno, I just don't think it can be "your story". I mean sure, it's a marketing strategy and ultimately a lie. But if you had big world changing decisions.. that affected the game in such a way, then the series would be all over the place, if that makes sense?
It still has to keep a linear path, to a certain degree. The choices you make, is the how you get to a point. I.e Hawke going to Kirkwall, he/she can either be pro-mage or pro-templar, but at the end of it, no matter what, there is a war.

Basically: Sometimes it sucks that people are different.
Okay, of course there are some things about the game that annoyed me. But I don't know the picture perfect game for me.
Ugh, and talking triggers... sorry, but everything can trigger something. I also still remember the sh*tstorm that came with the Dorian / Bull romance. I just loved it and a lot of people were talking abusive behaviour. Didn't get that. Don't get a lot of SJW anyways.

Hm... I cannot say that. I remember my first Origins playthrough. I had no idea.
Romanced Alistair, was freaked out about OGB (so denied it), wanted to give my Warden's life to stop the Blight. And couldn't because of this romantic fool who jumped in my way.
This was so not my story.

Yeah, no game is perfect. And it's all subjective anyway.
LOL that just reminded me of something when I first arrived on these forums.. somebody stated that Iron Bull rapes Dorian because Dorian was drunk or something..
And that somehow lead to somebody linking me to a "psychology" paper on Twilight and how it's abusive to women or something..
I do agree, it is abusive. It hurts my head whenever I see some fangirl squee over Robert Pattinson. ![]()
I hope all of you are drinking through all of this.

Oddly, I am in a serious, philosophical mood. ![]()
