True, Fiona didn't want Alistair to be in line for Maric's throne. Then **** happened and that fate is left up to the Warden. Morrigan features more prominently in Kieran's life though, whereas Fiona gave Alistair away.

What choice did Fiona have, though. A Warden, they don't exactly have kindergartens. And fighting Darkspawn doesn't leave one with enough time to care for a kid.

 

Plus, she was an Elf. Giving Alistair away gave him a chance to live a life without everyone pointing at him for being a half-elf.

This , hence the term elf-blooded, rather then half-elf being used. They are human, with an elf parent. I find this fact extremely interesting actually, but that's my fascination with genetics coming through.
