So this new Trials-system... has anybody ever noticed something weird about your companions in combat?

 

Thom, Sera and Viv are doing nothing out of the ordinary (though I think the Knight Enchanter AI has been improved), whereas Kelevra is now using ALL is skills when left to his own devices. I don't have Elemental Mines, Caltrops or Poisoned Weapons mapped (all of them learned as prerequisites), but the place is littered with funny toys and he constantly poisons his weapons.

 

I know it says it in the tooltip, but I wasn't giving it too much thought up until I saw him suddenly casting Elemental Mines while paused.

 

 

P.S.: I have the "no focus", "improved enemy skills" and "level scaling" ones activated.

It is done (well it was done a coupla days ago but I've been partying hard with the Avaar and my new attack bear, Storvacker.  Man they can partay!  By far the hardest fight, and the most satisfying and the relief is immense.  In your FACE nightmare level.  So feeling a tad foolish as I switched from Thousand Cuts to Mark of the Rift.  That baby took down the first wave of enemies immediately and left me with Turd Harofsen and his Hakkonites.  It was still a very tough fight but (playing as Solas mostly) and using Pull of the Abyss and Static Cage and thankfully having Viv along with Resurgence, I prevailed.  I never want to do that on Nightmare again.  Hakkon was easy in comparison.  Having said that, I'm descending (still on nightmare) at the moment and the longest fight I've had so far is the wave of Darkspawn.  Those 2 Ogres and the Alpha Emissary were bastards.  In particular I thought that Emissary was never going down. *Drinks to Renn*  Return to the Stone with honour.  Quite a few revelations too, which is fleshing out the history well for me (I've only read Asunder).  And Ameridan, an Elf and a Mage - who knew, and if he hadn't died/disappeared ....?  Okay, TL;DR and I know I'm way behind but I just wanted to share 

 

Edit:  ToP - proof that Lindiss swallows ...... and IB approves, ah it's just the game that keeps on giving!

I have to side with Serza here.  Always thought Merrill was just so adonkable.

Heh, I cannot speak to my crew as I don't really pay -that- much attention to what the do, except for trying to make sure the warriors don't just freeze.  However, I have noticed a few  times some new stuff by my opponents.  Now, it may have been a glitch, but I swear once one of those big brutish pricks  with the warhammers and black armor somersaulted over my head.

Merrill hovers between meh and annoying for me. It has nothing to do with blood magic.

On that note, btw, I watched the new Doctor Who and I must say I  was not impressed, which saddens me greatly.  The story did not do anything for me.  In fact, I am getting damned tired of the Daleks being their go to baddies.

Okay now, some things I picked up on by detailed research on the "Promoted" Perk:

 

• Your entire group will use ALL their active skills
   
• Enemies have new skills relevant to their basic class: (Observations of terribleness)
  -Two Handed Warriors use Crushing Leap (random targeting disregarding aggro, poor Sera) and Pommel Strike (cannot be blocked or soaked up by guard)
  -Sword & Board Warriors use player character-style Shieldbash (Completely removes your tank's guard)
  -Dual Dagger Rogues use Knockout Bomb (deadly when used at the beginning of a fight)
  -Archer Rogues use Leaping Shot (OHK on Nightmare)
  -Mages use Barrier (onto themselves, and more frequently) complete with the Fade Shield passive (recharges as they deal any damage), as well as Dispell versus your own mages

 

All in all, this makes the game effectively twice as hard, no argument here. Battles against mages take forever now (they have insane Health & Barrier on Nightmare already). However, THIS is the kind of difficulty I like. Everyone can edit "enemy_stats.txt" and add a few zeroes at the end of each value, but this actually makes them fight harder.
