This post is just some musings on Lyn's situation and maturity; which you are free to skip.
Now, first of all, I don't know this person; who she is, what she's been through, whatever happened in your shared past; so I shall try to keep this as general as possible.
When looked at in a certain way, there is but two groups of people in life: Those who make life for others better and those who make life for others worse. As well those who divide all of mankind into two convient groups and lastly those who ever learned to count properly.
Again, I don't know what exactly happened between you two. Whenever someone is being unnecessarily rude to me, and I have the luxury of thinking of it in the moment, I try to remind myself of the existence of bad days. Imagine your last time you felt like not getting out of bed, but had to run errants with a frowny face; how a waiter mixed up your order the very day you had a fight with your S.O.; how you received an immensely important phone call just as you were dealing with the person at the check out counter. You only have one chance to make an impression on a stranger, and sometimes circumstances can conspire to leave you at your very worst - an image that will stick with them for as long as they think about you.
I once had a coworker with whom I shared nothing but mutual disrespect and contempt from the very first day. I considered them to be very rude, and by extension, of the rather close-minded variety. Which is ironic, given during the last refugee crisis -or rather, the last time we were forced to deal with this permanent issue- I found out that not only did she support very liberal, altruistic views in a debate in which even educated, moderate people were basically "screw them leeches"; we started having regular conversations about all kinds of things every time we bumped into one another. All that happened was a mutual bad first impression and a perpetual indifference to change anything about it for years - this will colour every interaction, and prematurely so each time.
I think the most important aspect of dealing with people of different age groups, is that they never cease to be people. All that really changes -besides an ever fleeting probability to make it onto the cover of Men's Health or Vogue respectively- are the experiences you pick up along the way. The important detail here is, that the way you deal with those experiences are whidely defined by your character from around the time eating sand in a public playground seemed like a fun afternoon.
They have hopes, dreams, fears, mood swings and prejudice. It is easy to think that seniors (in any sense of the word) are functional robots to make life around the world work, while all the irrational dreaming remains with the youth until they blow out the last colored candles and turn in their license to see rainbows. That is because at least when I was a kid, you were raised that way. Fun is a priviledge for preschool, and something you earn the right to back after you've made it to the finish line near the end, so you can ride your red convertible on a serpentine road around the coastline.
It is my belief that this clichée image was originally chosen because there is less of a chance of pedestrians to see how disproportionately ugly old people look in roofless sports cars.
I myself thought at numerous points I've had my life together, adhesively like those advanced model airplanes. That this is the version of my life that will only turn grew around the corners from there on in. It didn't. More importantly, I didn't fall exactly, either. I am doing very fine financially, I have all the sparetime I need, and find myself mostly doing what I like every day (hence, all of this right here). It is still of similar quality, but it is completely different again. For all intents and purposes, I live like I did 15 years ago, except with more experiences. Alternatively, you can live that same life for 50 years with vastly less experiences.
Additionally, there's a reason why you often meet older people with seemingly no social skills whatsoever, and literally wonder how they managed to just bounce through life up until this moment. Those experiences you make in life I believe really are like bumpers in a pinball machine. They will shake and push and pull you around, they will constantly raise the stakes the more often they do, but they also make everything more interesting.
Some people however, are ejected from the machine's belly and fall through life without touching anything. Or, they bump off too often, or not enough. And then remain stuck. All you can do at this point is ignore those balls or tilt the table.
For what it's worth,
Yours sincerely

I gave you a like. I didn't read all of it, but you clearly put in some effort there and a like is the least I could do. ![]()
Good <insert appropriate descriptor here>, folks. Hope everyone is doing well. Nothing to say, really, just wanted to greet my online family.
*hugs to all except Poodle who still owes me a replacement copy of Seekers and Sorceresses, but he still gets a milk-bone treat*

Well, I suppose I'd rather get this type of review on something I said rather than after sex, so I thank you kindly!
Funny thing, I have no idea who this woman is.
Never knew she existed until she started shrieking my name every morning. I really do love people. They make me so happy and hopeful for this world. *wipe away fake tear of fake joy*
Ugh, why do I have so many screen shots? Oh man, that CullenWife. ![]()

First: here my punkish "QFT" (all of your post, Dieb. Just, for some reason, I thought it will be nice to have that quote to peek out from under spoiler tage)
Second: We all have communications problems, I think. Some of us more, some of us less, but in general, if you are not sincerely interested in person you are communicating with, it's hard to remember that they are humans. These complex, sometimes twisted, but still struggling to align, full of fears, hopes and intentions creatures.
People fascinate me, though, on some days I do find them very tiresome. But, if I'm in luck, I do remember that I'm not "a present" myself, that I can be cruel and buttheaded and so it calms me. But, it's if I'm lucky. ![]()

Guess who took my last? *drink* *drink*
