So they have a new engine that is capable of displaying hair more realistically, and people use that to suggest it's altering lore?  More ammunition for me, I guess, in my complaint against the new XCOM that they retconned the appearance of my soldiers from the original X-COM from the early 90s.

What the hell, Firaxis?!  Look at all that face detail that didn't used to exist.  They totally altered the racial characteristics of X-COM soldiers.

Calling it an agenda just because opposing such an idea under different circumstances would make you  the bad guy is such a cop out mental short circuit, I don't even. It's just a phrase, it has no meaning.

 

By that logic, caucasians are also lore breaking, since no one in DAO looked like basically any real person of any  ethnicity. The DAO inhouse engine just sucked.

 

Not to mention that (not sure about DAO) DA2 had premade faces for a black Hawke, as well as an automatically adjusting all-black Hawke family & sibling, accordingly.

Actually my memory is horrid.. Yet selective. It tends to remember unimportant things..

DAO had darker skinned presets too. each game made humans in thedas a bit more varied though, there has never been anything "lore-breaking" about non-caucasian folk in Thedas.

 

I actually really liked the Hawke-family touch, where they change automatically to "match" custom Hawke.
