Self insert doesn't always mean you see the entire character as yourself, or play that way. One can just partly self insert, like me, where they just can't take crueler dialogue choices for example. I cannot do them at all because it goes against the very base of myself in real life. Even if they're done in a video game that should have zero affect on my life, it actually does affect it. That's how much some dialogue is too much for me to go with so yeah, self insert is solely that part of my personality. There's no way I would survive 2 minutes in a world like Thedas lol.

With my self inserts, I tend to play as a slightly braver, more badass version of myself. I choose mostly sarcastic dialogue options and play as a non-believer who just wants to fix the sky and kick the bad guy in the daddybags. Lol.

A twin to kyrrah then! she is meant to be a sarcastic bad-ass (mage version) who definitely is nothing like me. I couldn't recognise a joke if it punched me in the face. Not good at telling them either, and sarcasm is beyond me, can't say it can't understand it lol.

Yeah, I have that problem. I want to finish the last 4, just to experience them myself - Josephine, Cassandra, Dorian, Sera. But..

1. I have trouble playing male characters, I have a new Dante who finally got to starting either mages or templars now, furthest I've ever gotten a guy.

2. would mean playing 3 male characters, as I personally would prefer Josphine to be with a guy in my playthrough.

3. Still having trouble continuing Sera's romance, not from being squeamish, just so much happening right now to get into it.

I will probably end up romancing Cullen with a mage at some point. Is it true that the advisor romances have less content? I know that there is no banter for them but I am still not sure about the advisor romances because there is supposedly less content.

Bull and Dorian's romances! Cullen's is also very sweet, and oh my god Solas'... and so far Sera's is adorable.

I am really loving Bull's romance so far. It is a lot sweeter than I thought it would be.

 

And I am worried that Dorian is going to leave my Inky alone and heartbroken at the end of Trespasser. I may have to come up with a cute headcanon where they stay together or visit each other.

Personal opinion:

Cullen, mage or templar Quizzy, choose mages, keep him off lyrium - this will give you the most out of the romance, and the less awkward chats (he's snappy if kept on lyrium while romanced sometimes), choose mages to ally/conscript to get Samson nemesis, adds in more romantic dialogue, going with templars adds next to nothing. Romanced Templar or Mage Inquisitors have extra dialogue options also. Templar one has some really sweet ones but so does mage options.

oh forgot, since advisors don't have approval metres, their stuff is after every plot point, leave and return to Skyhold a couple of times to refresh either advisor's cutscene queue since 2-3 cutscenes are right after arriving at skyhold but only happen when you first click on the character so do one, leave, come back, do the next.

 

After that first arrival at Skyhold, you get one romance cutscene after each main plot quest : Adamant seige, Palace Ball, Arbor Wilds. Just stating this, even if you knew, because a lot of people seem to complain they missed a few scenes.

He has special romance dialogue for an Inky who becomes a Templar? I thought he just had special dialogue for a mage.

 

He certainly does! I romanced him with a templar Inky once. When a warrior Inky is thinking about being a templar and talks to him about it in Skyhold (warrior dialogue icon), and after learning the specialisation she can chat about it with him. Also, if you go with templar Inky do not do his "tell me about the templars" investigation chat which is available in Haven until you've become a templar yourself (and started the romance), suggested only for different conversation lines.

 

Templar spec warrior, and mage are the only two that have extra / different romance lines.

 

edit: he has a rather sorrowful line if you don't tell him you're thinking of becoming a templar.. that was the only one of his that made me cry...

I actually had ideas for CC for my next Inquisitor, which will be a templar romancing him. I deleted my original templar and want to have one Inky for every class, and I have my 3 mages - KE (Kyrrah), Necro (Kirrah) and Rift (Cookie).

I actually had ideas for CC for my next Inquisitor, which will be a templar romancing him. I deleted my original templar and want to have one Inky for every class, and I have my 3 mages - KE (Kyrrah), Necro (Kirrah) and Rift (Cookie).

Templar is a pretty fun specialization to play. It is my favourite for the warrior. You should try playing a two handed Templar. My canon Inky was one and I had so much fun playing as her. I could send you a link to the build I used if you want.

Yes a stick figure elf racing around drinking lyrium and chopping people in half with a greatsword that certainly looks too heavy to lift!

I got endless enjoyment from watching my tiny elf Inky kick lots of butt with a sword that is taller than her. It's even funnier if you use a giant maul because she looks like she can't even lift it. Lol.

Alright, crazy maul wielding reaver-to-be lady and her overly large ears has been created. She's not amazing, but she'll do to get Cory-kill number.. oh.. 17 or 18.
