The Netherlands are a one houre drive from where I live, never even been close to Czech. I've been to Lepizig though, I do think that's near-ish towards Czech? Argh, what do I kno!
Two countries between us, technically.

Yeah, he's an Orlesian ranger with Celene's Chevaliers. The whole "man tripped into his own sword" apparently is a reference to that.
Honestly I didn't realize it was supposed to be him until I read it on the wiki and Sheryl Chee confirmed it on twitter to someone else.
Huh. Gotta reread then.

What was supposed to be him? Now, I'm really confused.
He's never mentioned in book.

I trust you know that better then I do, alas my information is just bad. My bad for not doubting the wikia forumites more, they became rather thorough in the last years. As I read (about his appearance) I was under the impression that I recalled something like that and never bothered to look it up. I wonder what that Sherly Chee tweet was all about then.
"Thornton originally served in the Margrave of Ansburg's army where he found a talent for stealth and scouting. Eventually he re-located to Orlais where he obtained a position in the Orlesian Imperial Army. When the War of the Lions broke out between Grand Duke Gaspard de Chalons and Empress Celene Valmont I, Thornton fought on the side of the Empress until he was assigned to serve as support for the Divine's conclave at the Temple of Sacred Ashes seeking to end the Mage-Templar War. In the aftermath of the Breach, Thornton elected to join the re-formed Inquisition."
All of that seemed a little far fetched and too specific for mere added assumptions & linguistic flow.
He was probably present when it all started, that there just says he fought for the Empress when the war broke out, but he's not actually mentioned in the book.
That's like a bottomless shot glass.
Would buy ![]()
F**k mondays.

Thank the gods the day is almost done.
Guten Morgen, Beren... bye Machine... noon for me.

Ugh, still OOL from yesterday's marathon catch-up session. Rivaini, I saw a picture yesterday and immediately thought "Rivaini wakes up after a long night of drinking and wonders who the poodle is next to her..." ![]()

*tries to drink and die laughin simultaniously*fails at multitasking*just dies*
Yep, that's me.
Drink or sleep? Drink or sleep?
Drink!
Boring Trivia for dead thread:
My new faith-head playthrough reached the point where I could judge Ser Ruth with "Divine Forgiveness", and subsequently obtain the Griffon Plate Mail schematic. Despite the quite ironic name in hindsight, I finally have a "Non-Warden" identitiy outfit for Blackwall, which also happens to not weirdly remove his few extra pounds like basically any other unique armor.
If I recall correctly, the tavern proprietor in Redcliffe, the supposed parents in the Moonstone easteregg cutscene and Blackwall are the only living beings in Thedas that have a unique body shape? Well, Sera if you count planting an elven head on an otherwise perfectly default human female body.

I'd still be curious where all this information is from (it's not in the brief ingame background description). Would you have a WoT volume? I reckon it's gotta be taken from there then.

It was nearly 3PM at that time. Still in Ireland?
Drink or sleep? Drink or sleep?
Drink.
With the "female Inquisitor" thread closed, we can move back to normality.
ALL UNITS: RICK ASTLEY STATUS HAS BEEN TERMINATED, effective immediately.
Terminating observation.

Nope, Germany ![]()
Just to double-confirm: Drink!

I do indeed have WoT Vol 2 and the information was taken from there. Pg 270
"A native of Ansburg Thornton first enlisted as a soldier with the margrave's army. He quickly found a niche in stealth and reconnaissance, with his information resulting in the successes of several important campaigns. He became the man his superiors would look to for scouting behind enemy lines. Thornton's quick wit and survival instincts would always bring him home alive. According to his many anecdotes, he has survived enemy capture through various means, including hiding in trees, pretending to be rock formations, hiding in burning buildings, running very fast through fields of poisonous snakes, and, in his favorite tale, disguising himself as a general's wife and fooling the general himself.
After Ansburg, Thornton moved to Orlais and used his expertise to obtain a position in the Orlesian army. When the Orlesian civil war began, he fought on the side of the empress until he was sent to the Frostbacks as support for the Divine Conclave. After the Conclave's destruction and the formation of the new Inquisitionm Thornton was quick to enlist with the fledgling organization, hoping to use his veteran's experience to bring order back to Thedas."
