Dammit. Am I really that predictable?

You guys are far too paranoid. This is actually a *gasp* serious and sane question!
I'm having some confusion about the Trevelyan mage background. I could have sworn when I started up the game and read the background, that T Mage has no choice but to kill a sh*t load of templars which I'm assuming is at the Ostwick circle?
It's rather vague, so I went on the Wikia and got told something completely different. That the Ostwick circle is neutral (doesn't support mages or templars) and T Mage goes to the conclave in hopes of getting more support for mages..
This fucks with my canon for my WeenQuisitor Azeroth, to which I have ideas of writing a little fic about. In true Halloween fashion, it will be dark and grim, lots of gore.. and he sure as hell didn't go to the conclave to be some wimpy peace ambassador.
So I was wondering if you had any more info about what happens (if anything happens at the Ostwick circle) cause yeah.. I'm getting two different stories there. Unless I'm having an efftard moment and missed something.
so the info for a human mage Inquisitor, on their codex card, mage part only:
As a mage, however, Lord/Lady [Player name] Trevelyan was expected to spend his/her life in the Ostwick Circle of Magi.
A sedate place, the Ostwick Circle did not decide in favor of either templars or mages, clinging to neutrality during the rebellion. [Player name] was chosen as a delegate to the Conclave in the hopes his/her noble position would provide protection for his/her fellow mages while negotiation continued. Trevelyan was the only survivor of the explosion that rocked the Temple of Sacred Ashes.
The character creation bit is what mentions having to fight templars whether they wished or not.
Human mage
Born to the Trevelyan family of Ostwick in the Free Marches You were originally intended for a life of privilege - until magical abilities surfaced at a young age and you were forced into a life of confinement within Ostwick's Circle of Magi. Protected but stifled, educated but isolated, the Circle would have been your entire future had the mages not rebelled against Chantry rule. Like it or not, you had to fight for your life against Templars hunting down all "free" mages. You joined the delegation of mages attending the Chantry Conclave in hopes of negotiating peace with the Templars. It didn't go well.
All through Haven anytime Ostwick Circle is mentioned, like twice, it's said to have had a reputation of being a rather sedate, boring Circle. But it still fell in the end as well. herald can say that "even our Circle's fall was quiet. everybody just.. left" and I do not recall a grisly horror option.
There is nothing, from memory, that covers anything that happened to the soon-to-be-Herald after leaving Ostwick and before arriving at the Conclave though.
Edit: that being said, shall I remind you of the first chapter of my Kyrrah fic? xD
edit 2: also Trevy can also say that the templars could not be trusted and turned to cold stone whenever a mage got treated harshly.

Problematic. But I can retcon.. or just make it so my character is a power hungry mage that worked in secret while putting on a show using his noble status and keeping the bloodshed quiet. ![]()

check me two mini-edits at the bottom. I changed that lore of the Ostwick Circle's fall quite a bit for Kyrrah's tale hahaha
*Ber thinks back to the Circle and clutches his drink tightly* Bad memories, man, bad memories.

Yeah that's what confused me, actually. Your tale for Kyrrah was rather grim.. then I read what I read on the Wikia and was thinking WTF.

That's right. Drown your sorrows... Red lyrium makes everything better. *puts a glass of red liquid in your hands and slowly moves it towards your lips* There, there. It makes everything better.
You were a templar then? I thought you became one only after getting to Skyhold.*Ber thinks back to the Circle and clutches his drink tightly* Bad memories, man, bad memories.

No.. he became one to avoid paying child support for all of his.. err.. "children".
Whatever he says otherwise is a LIE. He has an agenda!

I didn't like the whole "only Ostwick Circle out of all of them didn't fall violently" tale...

I don't like it either. It's pretty pisspoor, in fact.

I also didn't like it. Definitely came across rather fan-servicy to me. Every other Circle that is mentioned has scattered and remaining templars/mages aren't safe to stay there because of the villagers/common folk etc getting hostile or the circle literally went up in chaos and battle. Except Ostwick. and we don't hear of Ferelden's one but it had enough happen in dao lol.
Which only happened after arriving at Skyhold....No.. he became one to avoid paying child support for all of his.. err.. "children".

Yeah.. but what I don't get is the "everyone just left" part. Really? It's like, "Oh sh*t! There's a mage rebellion. Quick, let's pack our suitcases and go on vacation!! Even though.. it's quiet and neutral and nothing is actually happening here.."
And after reading up on the Trevelyan background I absolutely detest it. If not a mage, you're expected to serve the chantry. There is so much potential for an angsty mage character there but no.. it's like you're forced to be wimpy diplomat because you're a Trevelyan. F*ck that! Retcon it is. I can easily dismiss the "everything is quiet/everyone just left" as a cover up, seeing as Azeroth is a noble, using connections to cover up what REALLY happened. And then he gets his wish... sure, it's a joke that he's the front of a religious organization but he has POWER. Which is all he ever wanted. He deliberately tricks the chantry sheeple into believing he is Andraste's chosen and pisses himself laughing at them behind closed doors.
Which only happened after arriving at Skyhold....
Oh yeah. Good point.
You were a templar then? I thought you became one only after getting to Skyhold.

*Stormy walks into the harrowing chamber of the Ostwick Circle and stumbles upon five rebel mages constraining a templar in a static cage*
Stormy: *Sigh* Let him go, now. He's my brother, and beyond that, you know he didn't join the other templars in their insanity.
Rebel 1: NO! All templars die. But we want to have a spot of fun with him first.
Beren: Sis! Oh, thank the Maker. Look, tell these little bastards that if they let me go now, I won't kill them slowly.
Stormy: Quiet Beren, I'll handle this. Besides, you couldn't kill wet tissue paper at the moment.
Rebel 4: Look, he's the brother of one of our own. Maybe we should release him into her care.
Rebel 1: HE DIES!
Stormy: Fine. I gave you a chance. Now we do it my way.
Rebel 2: Oh...
Rebel 5: ... sh*t
Rebel 3: Where in the blue blazes did the dwarf come from??
*Stormy walks over the five twitching mages and grabs Beren by the arm*
Stormy: Come on, bro, let's get out of here.
Beren: I love you, sis!
That's right. Drown your sorrows... Red lyrium makes everything better. *puts a glass of red liquid in your hands and slowly moves it towards your lips* There, there. It makes everything better.
