I did not know you were an archery fan...  huh.  And I am not abandoning my love for the bow I just find this whole conversation really ironic. :P  Also Kara has not really been into the whole mounted combat sort of thing.

In real life, I'm a huge archery fan. Been using bows since I was 14. None of this modern bow crap with multiple guide, stability and sight helpers though. Traditional style short bows and long bows for me, thankyou. A bit like the one the guy in the pic I posted is using, but mine is bigger. yeah I said it, haha.

traditional recurve bows aren't bad either. They look a bit flashier.

And that is why Mass Effect has the better morality system.

IDK they are both pretty identical in terms of overall effect but really...the morally gray situations and choices you face in DA are far superior in general.  Renegade was still a little mustache twirling at times.

If I ever become that rich where I can have my own house with a good back yard, or at the least can go out to the park on the weekend....I mean...yeah that kind of park, I intend on using archery as a hobby.

DA doesn't have a morality system. ME has a bloody stupid morality system.

That's a good point.  But I find MEs better then most RPGs...and KOTOR TOR.

Being in the city now I can't do archery much, but got a friend who owns a property and doesn't mind me borrowing her old 18hh Clydesdale and running amok every christmas holidays.

Now I would love to have someone make a replica of the Dragon Bow and take that puppy out for a spin.

Would have to be someone experienced with their woodwork, the Dragon bow in DAi looks really hard to balance (when making it) and a little awkward to fire possibly. But as everything, practice, practice, practice. Well, of course you can go modern day plastics style but I always am biased to prefer wooden bows lol

I'd say it's better than more rigid systems because it doesn't reward you as much as other games do for playing a cardboard character, but I think the games would still be better without it.

I've always liked how DA series has been done. having options and reactions each game but still keeping the game linear enough for more games afterwards. Origins was the most fail in that regard, far too many ending options for save imports in later games, no wonder they're tying up all those ends now. Probably why I understand that they ended the Inquisition with just the two choices. And why the Inquisitor cannot be evil, because face it, your protagonist isn't completely yours, and is meant to be the shining light of hope in the darkness during that time. So no, you can't be evil or the game would have to be completely different to what it is.

Yeah I think I'd go with wood.  Thing just looks hella awesome...but you are right it does look a bit...clunky...too.  Not that I'd care I'm not going to try and be winning any compeitions with the thing this will be for my own volition.  lol.  If this is still a thing and I get it made I'll post pics of myself if the DQ is still a thing.

Oh indeed.  I have argued that the one thing ME does need to learn from DA is how they handle it, just ditch paragon and renegade and go with companion approval systems.

Ah yes someone posting opinions as objective fact again.  *drinks*

Given that one of the themes in DA since (and even during Origins) but especially in Inquisition is redemption being a mustache twirley villain redeeming the entire world and several of his companions would have been like....wha?  Also I do not think Solas would have respected you because of *spoilers*

*watching dao videos to catch up to where my canon warden is at*

Cullen in pink bubble of torture: "tempting me with the one thing I always wanted, but could never have. Using my shame against me, my ill-adivised infatuation with her. A mage, of all things."

Warden reply? "stop it, you're embarrassing me."

I can just imagine the thoughts from the companions if it wasn't such a serious situation...

Companion approval isn't enough though. The universe in Mass Effect has at times judged Shepard by whether they were Paragon or Renegade. This had nothing to do with companions. If Mass Effect only went with companion approval to judge morality, you lose this aspect. I would say Dragon Age needs a clear system of good and bad, that isn't based on companions, like the one in Mass Effect.

Are you still looking for the arms upgrade? And are they T3? In Emprise is a chest that drops all the T3 stuff you don't already have and you just have to save scum it instead of travelling back and forth. If they're not T3 or chest save scumming is a no-go for you, just ignore this post entirely. :bandit:

Clear systems of good and bad only work when everyone can agree on what good and bad are. If good is rescuing Olivia De Havilland and bad involves attempted genocide and talking in the cinema then sure, we can probably agree which actions would get what alignment points. But for anything more complex it falls over, and someone's idea of a good character gets bad points and people talk about them like they're a different kind of bad.

If you're going to track morality then it needs to track different kinds of actions so that people can react to it based on their morality.

Depends on the chest.

Well today's mission was partially successful.  I didn't find the Coat Arms but I did find a really awesome staff for Ben.  And more robes.  And it was insane synching up Ben's collectables so now he has everything Kara did...wow that took way longer then I thought it would.

Guten morgen, DQ.   I see y'all went and had a talk about the new trials settings while I was asleep.  Well fine, Elu Thingol didn't want to talk about the great times he's having running with them.  Oh poo, yes he does!  Here is what he's been running since the beginning.

Spoiler

All characters from now on will always have Even Ground, Walk Softly, and Take It Slow enabled no matter what.  It just makes the game soooo much better.  Elu is running Hard difficulty, but is too much of a pansy to run nightmare.  Only have three trial achievements left to unlock, and should get two of them this weekend.  Trial of the Hermit for whacking 10 promoted grizzlies, and Trial of the Tower for whacking Hivernal with gimped heal potions.  I won't be able to get  the last one, Trial of the Magician, until Elu is done and I do another character  that runs through In Hushed Whispers.

Eh... Trial of the Tower is -assumed- but to be honest, I am not sure.  All potions and tonics are fully upgraded, so that should help, but I am still not sure just what approach I should take to try it.  I am thinking of respeccing all of my mages to fire and spirit and giving them all fireboomsticks and just running a 3 mage / 1 warrior (Elu) party.  Definitely  going to need a hard save point before this.  Will need to craft new arm and leg accessories (and this, people, is why I think those fancy DLC armors without accessory slots suck donkey tools) with cold resistance as well for everyone...  oooh, need to slaughter some more snoufleur!

ETA:  He also ran fair weather friends long enough to get that Winter Palace achievement.  Man, that was a nightmare.  Cole... so bloody sensitive.

Well that's going to be a problem for Elu, you see :)  He can't stand the mark and only ever uses it to close rifts.  See, he became renowned in his clan when, at the young age of 16, he saved many of his people by slaying their keeper when said keeper got stupid and let a demon possess her.  Cleaved her head in twain.  B*tches love things cleaved in twain, you see.  It isn't that he thinks mages are evil per se, but that experience gave him a great distrust of the fade and demons.  No focus improvements, period.

Sera's not a Mage, see.

She's just REALLY good at cutting someone up, a bit like Elu then!

And she's just PERFECT at doing it in a rapid succession.

   I read that as "Serza's awesome..."   I stand corrected.  Thank you.

ETA: oooh, ToP!  Hold on...  Okay, going to try to get some redemption in sis's eyes since Elu let Blackwall rot.  This is also from Elu's playthrough and shows a (relatively) content Cullen enjoying a lyrium-free breath of fresh air.

It's the one on the frozen river right at the beginning of Emprise, you know the one in the boat? Back in the days I always used this one to get what I wanted. It worked quite well!

2-Handed Champion and To The Death on these bitches with Chromatic Greatsword!
