Before Shadowrun I hadn't really played any either, and I was worried it would be too hard LOL.. but it isn't. Basically when you level up you just gotta put stats in to strengthen how you play your character, and build it right cause if you don't you will be screwed.

The prophet and I plan on playing D:OS together, you could join us. :P

Cool. Sounds fun. :)

I have been meaning to get some new games to try. I only have 4 games for my Xbox One and I have had it for almost a year. lol.

hey now rpg's do exist, the thing is: it is now the widest, most varied and most misused genre now. If a game isn't tagged with 'rpg' then it isn't worth publishing now-days it seems so even games that aren't rpg-type "must" have rpg elements somewhere (or at least pretend they do).

And therefore, after all the changes it has completely lost it's meaning in 21st century culture/society. Roots of the rpg genre still exist as proper game styles though. Role Playing to me was always about playing a character with a set story and background, not abilities or levelling up etc. So I, like everyone else who has ever played a video game, am biased as to what makes a better rpg style for me.

If you can handle playing as Geralt I'd recommend TW3. You won't get bored, loads of stuff to do. And the environments are beautiful.. as are the kill animations  Be careful with the latest patch if you decide to check it out. Completely fucked my game. It's on PS4 though so being on Xbox One you might get lucky.

*Remembers that ArianaGBSA thread* Yeah.. gameplay doesn't matter. It's just stats and character sheets. Cause people are robots or.. whatever.

Seriously though, I see it as subgenres now. "Hardcore" classic RPG fans consider games like Diablo 3, DAI, The Witcher etc as "not real RPGs". And tbh I agree with TW3 not being one.. it's more like GTA set in a dark medieval world. Sure, you level up but you can do that in Saints Row IV lol.

Because you don't play as one person.. you play as a squad of four people. You get the option of choosing pre-made characters or make your own from scratch.

I've called mine the B*tch Brigade.

Naturally, I'm the leader. I am adept in assault rifles, heavy weapons and brawling. I have the hardass dialogue, and the psychopath quirk.

Roy is also a psychopath, and is my sniper.

Traggy is the medic, and she's good with a murder knife. I gave her the manic depressive quirk. Her stats can change randomly, sometimes go higher, sometimes lower.

And lastly, Verse. She's good with shotguns, and computer science, smartass dialogue, and is an opportunist.

I take that as a compliment! Cheers. *drink*

I would have made one of us A*sholes but the downside is the rest of the squad can't use smartarse or kissarse dialogue options.

I call bullshit. Clearly the game doesn't know what encompasses being an ass hole.

I was going to say I thought kiss-arse and smartarse stuff was part of being an a-hole?

No idea, never played it. But I know Geralt has 3 games under his belt and numerous books.. so he's an indepth character before you get to tw3.

I have thought about trying TW3, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.  I have been trying to finish my DAI playthroughs, then I got busy with work and stuff. Haven't had much time or motivation to play games lately. :( I think I just need some new games to play. I am tired of the ones I have.  And I think I tried a demo of the first Witcher on xbox 360 and I thought it was pretty awesome, so I think I will probably like Witcher 3.

Can confirm. Certified ass hole here so I know what I'm talking about. Even when I don't, I do.

They are quirks.. they have upsides and downsides. With the ass hole quirk your hardass dialogue is always a success but none of the other squadmates can use smartass/kissass.

We're both psychopaths.. so when we're in battle we deal out A LOT of damage. But if we take high damage we turn into wimps and suck in battle lol.

Yeah.. I know the feeling.

TW3 is a lot different to the first one. If I could describe it.. the open world is very much like Elder Scrolls games, but a million times better. Combat is a lot faster than it was in the first game, I recall somebody mentioning it's like Assassin's Creed or something.

You need to put a lot of time into, it though. It is a long-arse game.

It's different to the second one too. But I can't talk, anytime I get interested in a series, it's when each game has more then enough differences to keep me entertained and not feel like i'm slogging through blah blah 2.0 copy. DA wins on each game being so different, yet sorta alike and part of the same world.

Game mechanics prohibit being an ass all the time always. I smell an agenda.

Are the combat mechanics relatively the same? I really liked the different fight styles in the first one. I didn't like that combat was really slow, so I am really glad that it's faster in the new one.

It's a lot more basic. I mean, you still use silver sword for monsters and steel for humans. But one button is fast attack, another is strong attack.

Plus you can use a crossbow in this game.. I don't like it but it does come in handy if you have to go underwater.
