I know the feeling. I made an ugly dwarf but she was actually pretty compared to what's already been submitted.. If you don't feel confident you can always submit an Inquisitor in the "badarse evil" category. I made one who looks like something out of a Goth band

Well there is a category for Halloween costumes for photoshopping if you're interested.

As for mods.. Well.. I am on console and I can confirm that they aren't needed
