For me, it's the godsdamned honey badgers. No matter what i do in FC4, honey badgers will appear. F***k those things with a rake.

Spoiler

Ha! What's wrong with the animals in Far Cry? I didn't even know Komodo dragons are hostile. I wanted to sneaky kill some pirates hiding in some bushes like a hero, suddenly one of them screams '****! IT'S A KOMODO DRAGON!' and the thing killed all three of them. They all need to chill!

People who think that 'old' games were good because you died a lot in them due to ******-poor design and implementation due to crappy tech available make we want strangle them Handsome Jack style. The games were crap, the controls were crap and nostalgia is a cancer.

I have spoken.

@Roaming machine: that's only partly true. I think without so many save points, old games often encourage fairly good to perfect runs. And that does require skill. Or at least familiarity with the map or boss moves. I think it's why people still love Ninja Gaiden or those Souls games so much. They kinda do the same thing.

I suspect our Lady Lustre may be behind it.  She's become quite pro-nug after taking Dave and Stimpy in.  She could well be going out and tripping those mines before any "innocent" nugs find them.

I'm sure he is. I've been busy the last half hour since my body's no longer numb.

You wouldn't believe how good Flask of Lightning is at tripping a Fire mine.

They encouraged it much like a bear chasing you will encourage you to run faster. It wasn't a choice: You were were either good or you didn't finish the game, period. In the end those games were frustrating more than fun and few people finished very many of them.  Souls games do a bit of the same but they have toned down the frustration factor down A LOT compared to games 20 years ago. And they have an interesting world and/or story that actually encourages you to keep banging your head against the brick wall unlike the old games.

But I feel this way in real life right now.
