Huh, this is weird.  For the PC when I fire up Enemy Unknown ( I also have purchased Enemy Within), I get the option of which one to start.  In other words, I can still play  the vanilla if I want rather than with the extra stuff that Enemy Within adds.  Much like how you can still play the vanilla versions of Civ games without the expansions if you just manually launch the vanilla executable.

 

HOWEVER, I just checked amazon.com because I was curious and it seems you can get Enemy Within without first having to purchase Enemy Unknown and that's all you would need to get (PS3 and 360.)

Actually you can get a couple of XCOM games on console. Enemy unknown and enemy within.. They were released for PS3 so I figure they would be on 360 that's assuming you have one.

 

They're on the 360, yeah. I bought one of them, but it's shrinkwrapped. [edit] I said them. I meant the compilitation.

I really don't want to hook up my 360 again (it's in storage)... I wonder if it will be cross compatible... hmm... I don't know. I may end up getting it eventually.

Sadly only a few games will be backwards compatible.. But with a bit of luck that will change in time.
