I do believe (without evidence, trusting my godly knowingness) that the two are linked. Delusions are basically when the veil between reality and imagination are blurred and you can't tell one from the other. In practice that makes for some good writing... if done right. Or some major fuckedupness.. have you ever read Philip K Dick's Exogesis?

Shadowrun is definitely worth the fall... a couple of things in case you didn't know. Combat is turn based and there is no cutscenes or anything.. just walls of text. But the writing is so good I got into it... it even encouraged me to go back to DAI (very casually and slowly) and read all the codex entries. And I wish I did that sooner because it makes things a hell of a lot more interesting.
