But yeah, it's pretty awful. I've just decided to not go on Thanksgiving. But my family sent me out to the grocery store in the morning yesterday, so I can't take a moral highroad in protesting "people having to work on Thanksgiving." Also usually whenever that debate springs up someone points to the many industries (from the mundane, like gas station employees, to the more intense, like police and soldiers and medical staff) that don't get to be home with their families either, and I suddenly don't know how to feel about it. I think it's stupid, but I'm no longer positive it's "wrong." 

It's just the Thanksgiving day 'Black Friday' sales that ****** me off. A few customers wandering in to grab some last minute supplies is better than hoards of people fighting each other over some deal on a cheap TV when they should all be at home eating pie. Small or normal sized workforce on duty compared to all hands on deck for ridiculous Thursday crowds. Ah, retail. How I hate thee.

Win10 is really trying to shove itself down my throat now. It tricked me into starting the upgrade. Twice. A window popped up on my PC and laptop with two buttons: "Begin Installation" and "Install Later". I clicked "Install Later" and it frickin' started! Trolled by Windows. Now, whenever I login it starts the upgrade.

I missed this earlier and want to comment on it.  The difference, imho, is that thanksgiving or no, people will get hurt, there will be fires, people need to eat, people need places to sleep while traveling, etc etc.   So yes, while it is unfortunate that not everybody can be off work on Thanksgiving, it is understandable that some industries do need people in place.  Don't feel bad for needing to get another can of cranberries or whatever.

 

Nobody needs to buy the latest kickass 60-inch flatscreen on Thanksgiving.
