You could read it before Vol 1.. they're not really that connected per se. Both brush up on the foundations of the setting.

This was only ordered 3 days ago and was delivered from the good old USA.  But, it's Vol 2 (arrived before Vol 1).  It wouldn't hurt to have a sneaky peak, or should I wait .......  *starts scratching at shrink wrap*
