Ugh. I probably sound like an *******.
I actually think gaming is moving away from people like me though.. The lone story based types. So many things have a social element. And more games are even releasing as pure multiplayer. It's like more gamers are using the medium as an outlet for friends. And don't even get me started on the mobile trend. Konami had a success with MGS and now they're gonna trash it for the sake of phone games. lol
This is why I hope the industry wakes up to things like the Witcher.. and partly Bioware. But I think the latter is sort of losing it.
I don't think games as a whole are moving away. I think it's that they have expanded, and the center of gaming has shifted. If anything, we should be glad; games were once looked at as the vestige of the antisocial and culturally inept, and now more than ever they are a mainstream medium which is used by many as a social platform. I'd say a good half of the time I spent playing Gears of War 3 or Borderlands 2 was to chat with my friends -- the game was just the backdrop.
I am bothered by franchises which were built on campaign storytelling moving away from that as a pillar. Implementation of multiplayer can frequently take away people or resources from the main game, and it is rarely sustainable in the long term. For example, Bioshock 2 actually has a decent multiplayer component, but it became a ghost town pretty quickly because Bioshock is not something people buy for multiplayer and it is not a multiplayer community people want to support and remain connected to year after year.
Konami is... ugly, yeah. The shift to mobile makes sense given Japanese markets (and indeed the whole cultural disposition towards gaming, which I have gathered is very different from western views of gaming in recent years). To some extent, their hideous fallout with Kojima probably killed whatever hope they would have had of successfully producing great AAA in the future.
But there are still plenty of fantastic single player experiences to be had, more now than ever before.
Well done, my dear! I could never give up my coffee, but I am trying to drink more water and tea. Just, watch out for juices, some of them have insanely high amounts of calories and sugar per cup.
Spoiled to not interrupt flow (that's what she said)
*Ber sneaks into Miss T's underground lair to drop off a surprise gift for her. He proceeds to move down the main tunnel...*

It'll be more common in the West. Konami did something like that because AAA games are costing up to 50-100 million now. Or even more. Why make one game, no matter how lauded, when you can make 30 of them for half of that cost and probably profit at least on half of them?
These people who run publishers are just businessmen.. and they exist in the West too. Some are trying to make up for the cost with tacky multiplayer features and microtrans for the time being though. But this is why I have more hope in CDProjekt. Frankly, they just don't know better
j/k No really, it's a younger industry there and the devs seem to have more freedom.

I was trying to make a more christmas themed one but it didn't work out. I'll go google searching for something when I can be bothered, lol.
Some clown on twitter asked me if I play the piano on PS4......
Are they drunk or am I drunk?
I don't know. Is there an app that does that? That would be cool. ![]()
I was pleasantly surprised by The Game Awards tonight. And given the wins by games like Her Story and The Witcher 3, it does indeed seem like smaller and more innovative products with a focus on story are beginning to usurp traditional AAA winners.
And because Konami has no concept of public relations, they actually legally forbade Kojima from attending, leading Geoff Keighley to call Konami out live on-stream for being jerks. Which... was kind of awesome.

Are these options mutually exclusive?
Yeah, that was a ****** move about Kojima.

The Old Republic, an mmo, released an expansion that is basically all single-player story stuff and even the newest COD has a campaign with interesting story and lore (which you can access in-game. Take that, Destiny). Heck, even the multiplayer characters have lore. So i think there's still hope for people like us who enjoy a story and lore in our games ![]()
Oh, and good morning ![]()

Edit: Stupid, easily breaking image links...
I like to think more thought out stories in games is starting to make a come back. We shall see, it's only a few new games focusing on it now, hopefully more to come as the new year looms.
Oh, and good morning
