Well on the subject of Rey's staff there are Lightsaber resistant metals in the SWs universe, Cortoisis (sp?) weave for one.  On the subject of having to be a force user to use Lightsabers.  Not really.  Both Han and General Grevious have used Lightsabers, the latter in actual combat, and neither of them were strong in the Force...at least I think.  Granted measure of Force Talent makes you use sabers effectively, harder to cut off your own limbs, more effective at using them to block incoming blows...etc.

Well, yeah. Stopping Blaster fire with a Lightsaber seems to be directly tied to being a Force User. You don't HAVE to be one (hell, Han cuts open that weird animal on Hoth to warm Luke up - I remember that scene) but not being one means you're limited in your Lightsaber-ing.

But giving her a staff, making her a melee combatant without having her be a Force user? Blaster-resistant or not, she doesn't have the Force-reflexes (remember, Qui-Gon describes it as the Force telling you what happens in a short while - when he catches Jar Jar's tongue on Tatooine before freeing Anakin) to put the staff where the shot will be. It feels as though she's counting on stealth in the first place.

Woah. Roy, so you do like, sports, electronics and office supplies in the ugly W-word?

High five me.

No, I do not. I work in one of our busiest departments: HBA (Health and Beauty something (I forget what the A stands for (It's not accessories))). That's all your hair products, body wash, deodorant, soap, oral care, and shaving. I've been in that department for three and a half years and have become a crutch to management there. They are afraid to move me because I do my job too well. It usually takes three people to do the work over there that I do. (I don't say that to brag or anything, it happens to be true). I get back from my two nights off and hear the nightmares of what happened. "They had to send five people over there at 5 am to get done. Glad you're back." I've had managers joking-serious tell me I'm not allowed to go on vacation.

****. I just rambled about work. Hit me with a drink. :D

Are you excited for River Song to return in the Christmas special? I only know and watched a bit of Who but I'm thinking it's quite cool.
And I have to admit I mostly watched the Ten and Eleven stuff because of being forced to by friends...

Can't wait to get some Twelve/River on my screen. She's another one I never tire of, unlike the Trio who are on the verge of being repetitive and annoying for me.

Plus if River really doesn't recognise him... well, its about time it got comically reversed! (unlike Let's Kill Hitler which wasn't very comical at all)

I really like Missy and the sonic shades too. But maybe that's because I'm more inured to "weird" changes in Who than some *looks at the 80s*

Well I think she is a Force-user especially given a recent comment JJ Abrams made about her seems to answer once and for all if she is the main protagonist of the story/ a Force User.  And according to Harrison Ford:

Spoiler
And anyways its always been my theory that being a martial artist first and a Force User second might give her a leg up in training.

AND I have been wondering from watching through the movie this time if we are literally seeing events from the Jedi perspective.  Why Blaster bolts seem so slow when they should be 'much' faster.  Jedi reflexes literally slow down time, at least for perception's sake, allowing the Jedi in question to defend themselves.

Consider that she uses a blaster too, and that for most of her life she's not been caught up in a galactic conflict but dealing with scavenger lowlifes on a backwater world. Things might change when it all kicks off....

Clara and Coleman have been really good. And I meant the "Paternoster Trio" i.e. Vastra, Jenny and Strax.

Oh them.  Well considering we have not seen them since 'Deep Breath'.  Or whatever it was called...

Clara third favorit companion behind Amy and Rory.

****, you're one busy person at work.

Well, I do anything ranging from electronics, to children's toys, to sports equipment, to office supplies.

In Tesco. Pretty much the European equivalent to ugly W-word.

And since I made you ramble about work, have a drink on me. I know I enjoyed Dr. Pepper after work... Entire litre and a half. Was gone in a matter of getting home + 15 minutes.

But even Luke can't deflect Blaster shots properly with the Lightsaber when untrained. He actually tells Obi-Wan he doesn't believe it possible.

She's awesome.  he's awesome.  Love her hair.  And eyes.  And accent.  hmmmm.  Also I never was into Jon's character until after her influence, she really changed him, for the better, to now he is one of my fav characters in the show right up there with Danny, Tyrion, and that one awesome guy who loves Danny.
