Nope. It's some weird word.

"Oww!  Dammit, stop twisting my ear like that."

"Shut it, you conniving little sh*t.  You don't do that to your own sister.  That nasty pirate Rivaini, sure, but not your sister.  Now go apologize."

"Not before you grunt for daddy, babe!" ...  "OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!  Fine!"

*Beren walks over to Stormy*

So uh, sorry about flipping you head over heels, sis.  That was *glares over at Cassie* no way for me to treat my own blood and I'm really sorry.

Nope. It's some weird word.

Adapter!  Let's see where Donk goes with that...

Amusingly, I came to escape the drink-worthy content of elsewhere. Especially social media re: Obama's speech.

  Who was it that said that a few months back?  Poods maybe?  It's an American thing.

Toby Keith earned my eternal respect by referencing The Cask of Amontillado in a music video.

It is, until you're a parent. Then it's said in a non-romantic terminology all the time, out of habit whether kid is nearby or not. Gets so bad sometimes, yo the point you're telling someone random to "go talk to daddy" instead of "go talk to -insert partner's name-" it gets so embarrassing. rather the line goes "go talk to daddy.. err **** meant Name"

Oh man, I laughed my butt off the first time I saw that vid.

Oh... that.  Well don't blame me!  She's the one that does it.  Intentionally, mind you, with her [disgusted noise] and [grunts] all the time.  How's a man supposed to react, eh??

Yes well, like I said, American thing.  At least we don't have desserts that sound like diseased penises. ;)

I've observed that with my own parents and wondered when that started -- when my dad's father suddenly became "grandpa" and when his wife became "mom." It's weird, but natural.

What is not natural is teenagers referring to celebrities and/or peers as "daddy" or "mommy."

For me, it started when kid turned approx 2 years old... I think I'm up for a lifetime of this change now haha.

Yeah I assume it starts early. I don't actually have a conscious memory of ever hearing anything else from them.
