True, I like going to the book adaptations and getting mad when the directors don't follow the book, lol. And I like the origin stories of fairytales, like Pan.
The new Egyptian Gods film coming out next year looks original at least.
Speaking of which one of my favorite movies of all time. The new Robin Hood with Russel Crow.
One of the two best examples of 'liberty porn' ever.

Liberty porn? That sounds like something that belongs in the MEA forums.
Its a thing that I have come up with. There is 'liberty porn' and then 'archery porn.'. And probably a few others but that is the only two I can think of.

Yes...oh? Interesting. And it is my intention actually to watch it one day. I am highly interested in it just not sure if I can right now given...you know...my means to watch such things. I do know there are a lot of good people in it though. Alex Kingston, John Barrowman, Steven Bacic.
You know this might sound like such a moronic statement and it is but I just realized there is a lot of good Archery porn in Robin Hood too.
No wonder I love the movie so much.

To each their own. I have very particular tastes. But when you start talking about liberty in eloquent language and when arrows start flying my blood goes pumping.

But I did get pissed cause
Spoiler
Well you should probably keep watching because
Except I've noticed games on both Xbox and PlayStation store are fkn remasters of previous gen.. Off the top of my head I can count the Halo collection (which I'm cool with cause I only ever played 3) Prototype 1 and 2, Deadpool, GTA V, God of War 3, Beyond Two Souls, Uncharted, Devil May Cry, Gears of War and most recently Just Cause 3.
I actually am quite happy with the remasters. A lot of people change console families across generations. I was like 90% 360 last gen but I still don't have an Xbox One. I do have a PS4, and the remasters are giving me a chance to play games (like Uncharted or The Last of Us) that I would otherwise never end up playing. And the chance to play all of a series on one console is nice -- the MCC not only is great for people who never previously had an MS console, but also for people who want to play through the games again but don't have an Xbox or 360 anymore, or care about achievement support (that didn't previously exist), or just want to play multiplayer on maps that weren't included in later games.
I used to go all the time. I was always the one dragging siblings to the theater. And then movies got boring. It all turned into sequels, sequels of sequels, remakes, remakes, remakes of remakes, books, books, books, comic books, comic books, sequels to comic books, remakes of comic books, comic books.... I miss the days of more original ideas. So, I've turned more toward video games.
Truthfully, there's just more of everything these days. The comic movies get a lot of promotion given their cost (and personally, as both an avid comic fan and a fan of media in general, I don't think it's so wrong that a medium 75+ years old is finally getting a chance to see a fraction of those stories and characters brought to film), but there are plenty of other movies out. Krampus was funny. Crimson Peak was gorgeous. Trumbo and Spotlight are based on true stories. Creed is a sequel of sorts but a pretty refreshing one at that. Chi-Raq is not going to be like anything else in theaters. The Last Witch Hunter is literally Vin Diesel turning his own D&D character into a film. And those are all just movies that are out now in my area.
I tend to think that people complaining about a lack of interesting or diverse things in any medium today are simply not looking hard enough past the smokescreen of the biggest studio marketing machine. There has never in history been more diversity in storytelling across every medium.

Besides just because something is a sequel or from a genre which gets a lot of crap for being, uh, weak in the story telling department there is a lot of bold writing and experiments going on with all sorts of franchises and mediums. Movies, for instance, are actually finally doing some really clever things with writing.

Shall I rephrase?

And then movies starting cramming their sequels, sequels of sequels, remakes, remakes, remakes of remakes, books, books, books, comic books, comic books, sequels to comic books, remakes of comic books, comic books....down my throat and I got tired of it. I miss the days of more original ideas. So, I've turned more toward video games.
I also do not watch movies that are rated R.

And yeah.. I know remasters have their advantages. I am playing through Halo which I wouldnt have been able to do without the remaster.
I was just stating that I noticed there was a shittonne of those in comparison to new games.

Rephrasing isn't necessary. Frustration at marketing is fine, but what I said was in response to your next sentence: "I miss the days of more original ideas."
Maybe you miss the days of more original/diverse marketing (whatever Hollywood chooses to "cram" down your throat), but you're living in the days of more original ideas in the actual films available than ever before.
As for the R thing, that does help explain it. Movies with lower ratings are typically relying on achieving as wide an audience as possible, meaning by default they aim for the lowest common denominator. It's possible that there was once greater diversity in PG-13 films than there is now?

There are probably one or two a month, true, but it’s not really crowding the scene. Last month, for example, saw the release of Black Ops 3, Need for Speed, Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Star Wars Battlefront, for example; Beyond: Two Souls was the only remaster. Probably the reason it’s noticeable is because this is the first generation we’ve really seen remasters as a regular thing rather than a very rare one.
As for the other thing, you'll have to wait a while, but it'll happen ![]()
