I started to skim the last few pages, and then discovered that I love the last few pages.

I just got back from seeing Krampus, and my feelings are mixed, and now I can't shake the idea that I should re-watch Zombieland, about which my feelings will never be mixed.

I loved Trick 'r' Treat, and this has some similar elements, which I enjoyed, but I think think this was less scary. On the other hand, I also think it was more funny. I'm happy I saw it, but it's probably not something I'd watch more than once, unlike Trick 'r' Treat.

Some of the characters, adults in particular, veered too far into the too dumb too live territory for me, particularly in regards to some really terrible and inconsistent parental instincts. Like no one grabbing to infant off the floor during a monster stampede. 

 

and (major spoiler alert)...

 

The ambiguous ending left me a little underwhelmed.

Ah. I didn't like TrT much at all -- too nasty for my tastes -- so I guess I was hoping for a funnier movie anyway (to which end, I was quite pleased). I got the sense that it would work as a TV holiday movie -- not the sort I'd go out of my way to watch, but one I might turn on when flipping through channels.

I guess it works that those too dumb to live did not live, haha. But I know what you mean. I wasn't really sold on the ending either, mostly because it doesn't really fit with Krampus mythology and seemed too cliché horror movie ending for me.
