HEY SUCKERS! BRING OUT THE BOOZE! I PASSED AN EXAM!
...round on me, Cabot!
Yeah, too many high-ranked nutters there. Still, better than facing aimbot 155-to-5 guy any day.
Bah. It was about skill most of the time, and I had some reflex training in ArmA lately. After all, I was lvl24 (eventually, throughout the matches, I made it up to lvl26) at the beginning of the night, and judging by all the Bowcasters and upgraded cards, these guys were AT LEAST lvl32, and I'd guess much closer towards 40. I mean, Bowcaster oneshots are annoying, but the EE3 can deal with them in an epic fashion because the three round burst is awesomesauce.
But as I always say - if you're having fun, just don't bother giving a **** if you're doing well. Games aren't about kicking every arse in a ten mile radius, they're about having fun.
I love DAO, but I just went on a tilt in a thread
Post and my response:
Spoiler
You can dramatize **** enough to literally apply this to every BioWare game...hell every game ever released.
Dragon Age Origins had load screens up the ass slowed down by a persistent memory leak problem, empty zones with Elfroots and Deathroots that needed Dragon Age Redesigned to fill up with life, a WoW-clone interface, glitch after glitch, unintuitive control schemes, and an inventory system that made vanilla Skyrim's look good.
Let's add some more!
There's the cheap relationship building system via gifts,
incredibly linear development paths for warriors and rogues
several useless specializations that only had four abilities that also required mods to fix. Arcane Warrior made you an auto-attack bot
massive ability bloat by the time you hit late game and especially during DA:A
Omg the aura stacking.... I looked like a rainbow. That champion aura with its audio spam.
Ridiculously easy combat after hitting level 9 (minus the Amgarrak boss. Talk about a spike in difficulty) that needed Combat Tweaks to make it remotely difficult, even on Nightmare.
Unlimited potion spamming
a damage system that required healing spam unless you have a specific party with specific abilities.
Useless crafting abilities
****-brown filter permeating the game visuals
an unvoiced protagonist with a blank expression
Armor with stats irrelevant. Can literally go naked and destroy things at level 10.
Stat allocation becomes a chore after hitting stat requirements for abilities
Speaking of, stat requirement for abilities limiting character development. "Ooh the illusion of choice".
STR STR STR STR STR STR STR....: warrior stat allocation
DEX CUN DEX CUN DEX CUN DEX CUN DEX CUN....: rogue stat allocation
MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC...: mage stat allocation
Jowan. ****** Jowan.
It needed several patch cycles and mods to make it good.
Yet you seem to love it.
Interesting...
I love DAO though. Wouldn't have it any other way ... except Alistair being bisexual but w.e
I have to admit it was a little fun to dig around for all the crappy parts of a game without consideration of the experience as a whole. No wonder people ****** about DAI. I have a new understanding of them.
I have a renewed desire to play DAO now though. I'm all nostalgic.
You're actually kind of right. DAO was far from perfect, but HOLY HECK, it was plain awesome, and you know what? Inquisition is different except for the plain awesome part. It kept that one from DAO.
So... on the subject of tension, disagreements, snippyness, etc.
What I'm about to write may make people uncomfortable. But it needs to be said.
In the early days of DQ, we were just a small group. Now, Poodle mentioned that the reason its falling apart is because people have nothing in common any more (relating to off-topic discussions) but I don't agree. Amongst our DAI discussions, we've had plenty of off-topic discussions. Where sensitive discussions are concerned (I will bring up for example, something pretty recent. The topic of "abortion" was discussed, and despite differing views, it was civil).
Off-topic and political-type discussions are not the issue.
The issue here is, people are saying and doing things that annoy others. It's hinted as much that it is annoying, but it's always said in a "polite" manner. And it never drives home for these people, so they keep doing the annoying things. But people won't say it straight out, because they don't wanna hurt people's feelings, and don't want to put this thread at risk of closure.
That's just one issue. The second issue is, in the early days, we were a crazy mob. We made jokes that were shocking, and sometimes inappropriate. Sometimes it was taken too far. Of course I'm a prime example of this. I can recall a few times I have pissed Roy off with something I've joked about. We sorted it out amongst ourselves.
Recently, I posted a disgusting Gif. Instead of asking me politely or saying, "Hey Donk, that's gross. I don't wanna see that. Please spoiler it or hide it." I got from Foley, "Ugh why do you have to take things too far! Hide it or spoiler it now." And then a post that very much hinted that he would report me.
And this, is the nail in the coffin. I left, because I don't want to have to worry about being snitched on for something offensive I might say. It came to that. That we can't sort things out ourselves and have to run to the mods. And obviously, being the crazy mofo that always jokes about inappropriate and shocking things, it didn't bode well for me.
I got that it may have offended people. And I would have been happy to hide it. But I didn't need that. I simply do not want to associate with people like that. So, while I remain on the BSN, I hang out elsewhere, where people like that don't go, and I can be myself. Simple.
The DQ isn't what it used to be. And I guess I was naive to think that it wouldn't change. But everything does.
And, ladies and gentlemen, threatening to report someone here is BETRAYAL. There is no faster way on my **** list.
I'm not arguing with you.
After all, part of the reason I left was so everybody could post here comfortably. But I felt like I had to explain the issue of this thread.
Take care, people.
Hell naaaaaaw, you're not leavin'.
That's what the ropes in the doorway are for...
(Now that I look at it, though, a dwarf could get through if they duck... Oh well, take it as an opportunity of free choice.)
