Yeah. I know CB was kinda weird because I thought he was in One, and then that sucked so the show took an entire year off and then they came back with the magnificent Trial of a Time Lord. God I hope the Vaelyard actually becomes a thing before Moff leaves the show.

. He did the last story of the final Davison series, then one full series, then there was the hateful eighteen month hiatus, then the Trial series, and then he was fired 
So he was the Doctor for three years but only did two full series.

There was fun to be had but the consensus opinion is that he was still recovering from the guilt of the Time War. By the end of the series he finds himself again and then gets a new lease of life in his next incarnation(s).
That makes sense then. I watched it casually at the time (and didn't watch it previously), so I missed those details. I know the war still bugged even the later versions sometimes.. maybe they hid it better with their behavior.
Somehow Maeve and Vivienne went from absolutely hating each other to being friends. Weird.
