I got Fallout 3 in the sale. I'm wondering how it holds up. If I like it, I'll get Fallout 4 eventually.

Whatever, New Vegas is better than both. (And probably 1 and 2 but I haven't played them yet).

I actually preferred Fallout 4. It kept what worked from its predecessor, and the mechanics and the world are much more refined, and they genuinely feel like a  more pleasing experience. The crafting system is fairly deep, ad takes a bit of devotion with your time and levels to properly master. Not to mention the settlement building! This is by far my favorite feature. The story feels a bit more thought out, and it can really make you question your moral compass.

 

Don't get me wrong though, it has its fair share of faults, but don't let that deter you from a great game that was nominated for game of the year (though it lost to The Wild Hunt).
