I dunno, she's killing on Nightmare; hence I delcareth it good enough. I always go form over function and dislike using build(-guides), so I wouldn't know what I'm missing out. Also remember that as a player, you get a lot more Passive boni over the playthrough than a companion, and Cass is limited to Templar.

I used the cloth for crit % bonus, as well as the grip and pommel; the other slot for HoK and +Attack. Then just set WotH and Cleanse on preferred for the good old  wombo-combo; which can easily AoE strike for a few multiple thousands of damage - this is where the superior weapon damage and crit chance really comes to shine for her, compared to the general S&B stats.

Well, the main difference would be Champ. With high Crit it reduces cooldowns, and you can trigger Walking Fortress more. You want +50% Crit. Totally different for Templar..

It's just so stupid to tie it into axes though. And then make my other specs some cartoonish Reaver crap that I hate even associating with a hero found near the Sacred Ashes. I'll leave that up to all the kiddies who don't give a damn. Or a drug fiend Templar.. and Cass/Seekers does that better anyways.

Yeah, but while I dislike some specs, I absolutely adore the Artificer.

My favourite kind of character has always been the Rogue who uses less shadow ninja magic-like tricks for ultrabrutality stabbings of death, and more crafty little tools & gadgets, who actually helps his group with his cunning. That's just what the Artificer does. In combination with the equally lovely Sabotage tree, you can be a real asset to the group, rather than a self-sufficent murder machine.

Definitely appeals to me for a rogue.. a dual wielder actually. Is that what you play? Because if I'm human, I just want to be a crafty hunter type.

I'm just a bit turned off by the Rift stuff focusing only on archery.. and Varric seemingly in some loop where he talks about Artificer.

What do you mean by 'the Rift stuff focusing only on archery'?

Wait.. what's Hail of Arrows?

In any case, it's archery specific. I feel like I'm doing something wrong by thinking of DW'ing with that spec.

edit: I meant it's powered by Focus.

Ah, didn't get that you mean the focus ability itself, okay, yes.

I imagine a DW rogue with that spec quite fun, with Opportunity Knocks you could still spam Elemental Mines and Spike Trap. And stuff like Twin Fangs? Plus Fallback Plan makes a bit more sense for a DW than an Archer in general?

Ah idk, Dieb seems to be more of an expert with rogues don't mind my rambling.  :P

Yeah, it's a concept I could work with. It just seems like it wasn't designed for it. :\ That kind of stuff bugs me.

Then again, Sera has "thousand cuts".

I know nothing about anything except staves, if I can't use it to throw little balls of magic at people, it's not worth using.

Oh, I'm not using any Focus skills, I forgot about that. I dislike "wild card"-mechanics in games because I'm a weirdly specific masochist.

I'm an Archer, but my character only uses Leaping Shot and Strafing Shots out of the Archery tree. Other people in here are gonna groan about yet another description, but it's basically a trapper/shotgunner build I'm running: Hook & Tackle, drop a mine in their face, some toxic mist onto them, Leaping Shot away before they get up, Throwing Blades from mid distance - rinse and repeat. Obviously works the best with Griffon Bow, and it also happens to rely more on Attack/Willpower than Crit. Opportunity Knocks, the singular most useful skill out of the Artificer tree makes for virtually no cooldowns.

I played a mage once. It was OK (but I was a KE, so no staves). I dropped it when I found that the last Inquisitor was a mage. Kinda took the wind out from my sails :P

stave = staff. I always play knight enchanter, always got a staff.

I love how the previous Inquisitor was a mage, and an elf! because of all the mage-hate in civilians etc, loved it :D

I know.. I mean I just didn't need to use it much after Skyhold. Especially a year back, before they patched them.

I like the last Inquisitor too. I just don't like overlap like this. It's too convenient...or something.

Now this talk really makes me want to play the Inquis I use for rogue/warrior pts as an Artificer next time.

(And I mostly went all  when the last Inquisitor turned out to be an elf. And a mage. Because.. of course he was.)

I think it's cool. It just makes me not want to play anything like it now. Plus, it didn't help that my main Warden is an elf too. So I switched Rogue Hawke to Mage Hawke now.. and I'm indecisive on a warrior or rogue.

One thing I liked about my mage is their age seemed more open ended. I could roleplay a human in their 30s quite easily. I'm frustrated how they worded the other classes as "youngest child". The mage doesn't have that. It begs more questions. Like is he some young whippersnapper Templar trainee. Because that ****** bites. Or is he just the youngest child, but been a priest for years? A little better, but still not all that exciting. I feel like Sebastian. Wtf has he been doing all this time? Juggling knives and entertaining kids at the local chantry?

There was nothing technically wrong about him as a charcter and it was interesting enough to meet him as an elf, but...He was, in my eyes, the personification of of the lore rollbacks and outright retcons the DA universe has suffered. My hate of bioware kind outweighted his worth as a character :P

I posted this elsewhere, but their early Quizzy concepts seemed badass. And he/she was a rogue. And he/she seems like an adult. Not this crap I have to work with in the game.

Ugh! The artbook with all the concept art for Inquis' armor is full of beautiful stuff. Kind of frustrating.

I'm playing on a PS4 right now, no golden Nug so far because first pt, one of the things that annoys me so much is that I don't have the few armor schematics so far that I actually like on my character.

I suppose the thing I mentioned with the backstory can be ignored though. I brought this up to David Gaider a year back.. and you know what he told me? Just make up my own backstory. lol. Kind of shocking. Especially since I was such a fan of the Origins and DA2. But then I heard him say a similar thing on Twitter. He has no commitment to it, I guess.

The armor is in the game though.. but not the hood/hat.

If it was, it'd be like TES. Instead it's the worst of both ideas. Not enough to see or play through or build on.. And not open enough to free oneself to actually headcanon'ing age or career.

At least for humans. The others are more freed up. I imagine when it was human only, I probably could have been the Merc or the Smuggler. Not Sebastian every damn time. Even Shepard is more flexible than this.
