My sleeping is totally messed up.  I need to be able to be up and getting ready for work at 7.30am on Monday and I can't seem to get to sleep before 2am and be awake before 9am any more.  It is also now almost 4.50am and I haven't slept yet tonight.

 

Annoying.

 

I have been getting some PoE in, though.  Which was nice.

Speaking of which, I finally bought Skyrim on PC (played the 360 version). What mods would you recommend? There's too many...I'm overwhelmed.

I'd never leave Hawke in the Fade. In my mind, it's only a spiteful choice for people who hate DA2. They finally get to act out on their hate in-game.

 

And I'm not one of them.

Not true in my case. I did not like DA2, but I never left Hawke in the Fade because of that. Hawke was a character I played as for at least a couple of hundred hours--choosing to leave them in the Fade was the hardest choice I ever made in DAI. I agonized over it for 20 mins, just staring at my screen. I had to think about what choice would best fit my Hawke while role playing my Inquisitor.

 

If in doubt, down the bottle.. still in doubt? grab 2!

Then maybe I shouldn't talk about all the nugs I slaughtered when going to visit the nug king yesterday.

I suppose I would kill Hawke if I thought they deserved it or had something to redeem themselves with. But I can't play a Hawke like that. Most of those options are too crude for me. Like the blood mage who drains his own friends or something. It's really just silly and gamey and not crude.. so I can't take it seriously. Making Orana or Fenris slaves again is also a no-no. Siding with Qunari as well.

 

Thing is, I think the Warden is potentially worse. And some of them run scott free without a care in the world. Even if you kill Leliana and defile her and Cass' prophet, it doesn't matter. Cass still wants them as an Inquisitor potentially. It's thoughtless and retarded. And biased. You can drain City Elves for a pitiful +1 Con, abandon Redcliffe to horror, and they still hail you as a hero.

Never, ever ask that on a forum. You will.. WILL... get over 200 suggestions from almost everyone who answers. Take it slow with the mods first and change only what really catches your eye.

I loved skyrim without mods, and I love it with my mods. I only used mods to add more horses, be able to have mutliple ponies to ride instead of one at a time, to upgrade armour meshes/minimise clipping, hair mods and then it was the big, popular graphics one (weather and sky) upgrade. I didn't change any spells, how inventory etc worked, or change fixtures (like towns/houses) of the vanilla game itself.

Fix meshes and stuff. Is that the "Unofficial Patch"? It kind of looks useful. I noticed the weather one too.

 

All the unofficial patches I recommend if you got the DLC's . so just grab the ones that you own the content it patches.

Err it wasn't armour mesh really, the look of the armour is changed umm.. Here- Immersive Armours

If you'd like a list of the mods I generally use, knowing they change weather, sky/stars, add armour/change armour, change hair and add homes and horses let me know, I can pm my list, and why for each, over to you. my main must use ones aren't a huge list.. promise.

I don't really have many really game-altering mods.  Most of mine are visual things.  Let's just start out with the basics here...

 

And... I had to stop myself else I would have given you my entire mod list!   I trimmed it back down, but it ended up being longer than I planned, so spoilering:

To manage your mods, use Nexus Mod Manager, TESV Edit, and LOOT.

 

Gopher instructional videos for:

Yes, I know, you didn't ask for a huge list of videos to watch.  But I strongly encourage you do so.  Mastering this crap now will save you headaches later.

 

Now some basic utilitarian mods.

 

USLEEP:  The unofficial patch for the legendary version of the game.  If you didn't get the legendary version, then go buy it.

SKYUI:  Because that hell that is the console UI just sucks donkey bits with a keyboard and mouse.

Quality Map:  Because nice maps are nice!

Better Dialogue Control:  Again, helping with the horrible UI.

Catalog Favorites Menu:  Outstanding Favorites replacement.  SkyUI has a built-in one if you don't want to mess with this.

Muffle Your Dog:  IF there is any one non-essential mod that I say is essential, this one is it.  Shut  those damned dogs up...

 

These are a few cosmetic ones I've used since forever.

 

Belt Fastened Quivers:  Just because I prefer the quivers like this.

Better beast races:  Make those Argonians and Khajiit look better.

XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement:  Same as Better beast races, but for the humanoid ones.  Same author.  I never really went in for those, imho, horrible body mods (CBBE, etc) that make everyone look like beauty models or something with huge tatas.  This author did some nice enhancements of what already existed.

XCE - Dawnguard:  XCE for Dawnguard DLC.

Climates of Tamriel:  Nice weather mod. 

Realistic Waters Two:  Nice water mod.

Purity:  All in one weather, water, etc mod.  DO NOT USE if you use Climates of Tamriel and Realistic Waters Two, and vice-versa.  One or the other, yo.  Personally, I found I liked CoT and Realistic waters better, but Purity was just fine too if you want the simplicity of one mod.

Wet and Cold:  Nothing deadly, just some nice touches to get you in the mood of the cold.  If you want deadly, look to Frostfall, which Wet and Cold plays with just fine.

 

I use a lot of mods by Arthmoor.  He makes some great stuff, and is also the main guy (I think) on the USLEEP project.  Alternate Life I wouldn't get right away just because I suggest a couple of normal runs before doing an alternate start.    I would say stay away from Open Cities just because that's a big modification to the game.  I use When Vampires Attack, Run For Your Lives, Point The Way, Bring Out Your Dead, Gildergreen Regrown, Storefront, Castle Volkihar Rebuilt, When Vampires Attack, and of course Alternate Life.

 

Alright, I tried to, in the trimming, make sure that none of the mods I listed here need cleaning but you should still watch the cleaning vids because you need to clean your masters!!!  Holy frak, sorry, I didn't mean to write a book.

 

ETA:  FECK ME!  SKSE!  It's kind of critical for most any modding nowadays.
