Yeah dude. For all the praise DAO gets for being tactical (it isn't really), DA2 is A LOT harder especially early on.

Ser Varnell can be a frustrating fight as well depending on your class.

This time I sided with him, so I fought a bunch of Qunari. I suppose the equivalent to him was a Sten. It was hard though for being so many of them.

I hate hate hate the poison spiders in DA:I.

Also Wraiths and their dumb Spirit damage attack.

And Terror Demons with their hissy fit AoE scream of bullshit.

Terror Demons can be knocked down by a Shield Bash if they try to take on your tank (they should be Aggro'd on the Tank, but no worries if that's not the case, I didn't manage all the time) which interrupts the AoE scream of bullshit.

Alternatively if you need to long range, have a Winters Grasp on a Mage. Getting frozen also interrupts the attack.

That's literally all I know about stopping that.

My, my

So much rage  :D

I actually find Nightmare absolutely no problem after having completed (not really) DAI a couple of times

I don't think DA:I is difficult at all, doesn't stop me from being pissed off by certain enemies though.

Buuuut before Skyhold some stuff was quite tough so far on this pt with NM and all the trials, when playing as a mage there are so many enemies who are resistant to many elemental attacks so it's all a blur of 1dmg points lol.

What's most difficult in Nightmare, in my opinion, is the first fight against the Pride Demon.

That one's a ******

Jeez, yes.
Either it works surprisingly well and you don't even use all of the potions or you're failing like 3 times in a row.

DAI on nightmare was hard for me because I went from being an archer who could depend on staying out of the thick of things to being a double dagger wielder whose avenues for retreat and healing were often cut off by the time I needed them. In fact there were several battles I only survived because I switched to Sera and ran to the periphery. Also, the final Trespasser boss as a double dagger assassin was pretty difficult for me, though that it possibly partly due to not having focused much on armor (I only really started paying attention to crafting in my third playthrough, by which point I was playing on easy and it hardly mattered).

Regardless, I think it's safe to say that nightmare's difficulty is a significant jump from normal. Probably less ridiculous if you play hard first.

That's a pity. The schematics are quite useful.

And always stylish

Yeah, I've made use of them quite a bit in my Atha'Lia playthrough. Though starting out with the Trespasser armor kinda obviated using anything else for a good 2/3 of the game, haha

I'm pretty fond of The Skin That Shields/Stalks/etc. so it worked out for me. I balance it out by having that Trial on that sets every enemy to your level.

They are being sarcastic.

Trespasser Maeve. Suspicious look for Varric.

Oh really? I thought they were using hyperbole to argue against my position.
