You know what, Stray, I'm just saying this to get it off my chest, then I'll be fine.  So don't get upset and leave or anything, just call me something back in return and then we can shake hands again and carry on.

Now... go feck yourself and your racist accusations.  I don't give two shits what you think about me thinking Qunari are sexy for having nice horns and great bods.  It's a fantasy game.  F-A-N-T-A-S-Y game.  I'll have my fantasies and not care what you or anyone else thinks about them.

Okay, I'm good now.  *extends hand*

*Ber heads outside and up to the armory to help Cassie with a loaf...*

Oh.  Huh.  I never thought of it like that before.  Annnd though I think that could be a problem in the Setting though rather then actual intended racism on BioWare's part.  After all the Dwarves only exisist in two small Kingdom's that are constantly under siege, relatively isolationist, and are by far in a way in the waning period of their civiliation/ Empire.  I feel quite confident though that...well first two DA games were set up, DA I focused on Elves...and...Elves I guess.  But I think the next game set in Tevinter will focus on Dwarves/ Humans...or perhaps Humans/ Qunari...or perhaps all three.  DA I really was not the place to get all Dwarfy.

I was actually hoping to see more city elf stuff in Tevinter.. and I suppose more ancient ties to Arlathan are there? I think? But yeah, at least there's Kal Shirok and probably many Qunari camps.

Then that fits in the fratboy category. Either way, they both suck.

I'd appreciate the Qunari again if they have more of a purpose than "looks". Race and culture is not about appearances. Not in RPGs and not in the real world.

In your opinion they suck.  I'm definitely not a fratboy.  You want real purpose that's fine.  At the end of the day when I'm trying to relax I don't give a flying f*uck whether the character has horns or wings.  Actually, that's not true - I want wings.

Well as you were saying DA seems bound and determined to touch on all aspects of the monomyth...or something. :P

I appreciate you telling me to go **** myself actually. If I have anything to impart, it's this sense of boundaries. ;) I'd choose that than some lack of sincerity or playing nice for the sake of it.

It has potential for fantasy, but not when revolved around looks.

I'm fine with just looking at the birds outside for now. And the fresh air. Wings would be cool, but I don't need them. That's what I wanted to tell Lightning Poodle. The small things.. they cheer you up.

On that note, I'm always gonna be the realist. It's what keeps me happy. But it also makes me a jerk in some circles. I'm not that imaginative. ;)

I'm kinda on Strays side on this one, though I wouldn't call it racist as such. Most people (real people) don't actually like the Qun, but a lot of those people like the Qunari as a race. Considering they are one and the same, basically, it can be seen as them only attracted to their appearance. After all, those same people are not accepting off their culture and religion so...

IDK I think I can appreciate Stray's point.  He wants more differences in races in these games to be more then just based around looks but actually...deeper then skin differences.  Same with how people view them.  Just not being attracted to looks...but something deeper? :P I hate speeking for other people, *shrugs*.

Though it is just a piece of fictional work and all humans have to draw experience from is -other- humans and human cultures and norms.  Its hard to invent something completly brand new that is *not* human.

The Qunari for the most part are moronic buffoons in my opinion.

Adding to my prior point.

The problem with people not liking the Qun is that BioWare have consistently put them in a bad light. They haven't shown much good side from them, which there is. So the only "good" thing people see of them is their appearance. This can be said of Dwarves as well. Yes, we saw them in Origins, but in DA:2 and DA:I, we only ever see them as surface Dwarves, and I agree that they are treated more as humans, not dwarves.

IDK Tallis, Iron Bull, and even Sten has added layers to the Qun and all three of them have been Qunari who also have been your allies and have given you cultural insights.  And with Tallis and to a lesser extent Bull we got very conflicted characters.

And for my gaming preference to, in games, I usually romance the human character.  Only non human I tried to romance was uh Merril.  And I had Alex kiss Tallis so he was my only real experiement thus far.

Even I can appreciate some parts of the Qunari. Like the Arishok going to the defense of those elves who avenged their sister. It's no different than Hawke killing Kelder. Both of them see a need to take justice in their hands, just to give elves a fair shot.

Only I think the Qunari are wrong otherwise.

Yes, insight. Not actually showing us. We hear that their are families and teachers and people who help one another, but we don't actually see it. We see them as barbaric people that want to dominate everything.

See, I'm Qunari through and through. I hope BioWare does show us their culture and people first hand, instead of these single characters that don't tell us much.

Forgot about him.  Loved the Arishock.  Second best antagonist in DA thus far. Maybe the best.

*raises mug* Good point. Mind you I never see the Qunari as barbaric.  Quite the opposite they are hyper organized and hyper civilized.  Communism perfected.

I meant barbaric like the Mongol tribes. Or, as another fantasy example, the Dothraki (except more orderly)

See the reason I like playing Qunari is because I do like their looks, but I also like playing them as gentle and kind, and getting over the stigma of living in a society that fears them based only on looks.

Would I want to play a Qunari of the Qun, probably not. I'd be happy to play a Tal-Vashoth though, who openly rebels against the Qun.
