high5.gif   I'm actually impressed you recognized it.  I never figured on "Real Genius" being a movie that would have found popularity outside of the 80s.

I just remembered I didn't submit a picture in the Guess the Game thread...

Between Imgur and Photobucket, which one would you suggest better?

Imgur has a lot more issues then photobucket when it comes to actually being able to access the site *mutters* but imgur is a lot more computer friendly, net friendly and easier to use then photobucket.

I've had a couple of over-capacity issues recently with imgur but usually it's OK.  Oh, I really need to go to sleep now - goodnight all.

ENTPs don't generally start wars though. They're not known for it at least. They think they're above most things like that.. But they might ****** people off all the same. See Richard Dawkins.

I wasn't talking about me (ENTP) but yours, which you said you would join a civil war.

I was mainly joking...

I'm joking too btw.

Every type has positive and negative stereotypes. The positive ENTP most people see is like Doc Brown from Back to the Future. Or Mordin Solus (not that he's popular, but it's similar).

Here's a funny descriptor of my own type. Does this sound positive? Obviously written by a victim. :P

ESIs tend to evaluate people's ethical behavior "as it is" and not "as it could be" or "as it could be interpreted according to the context or another person's point of view". That means that they can be perceived as unrelentingly harsh, even unforgiving or vindictive, when correcting, punishing or even avenging what they see as unethical behavior, especially betrayal of trust. "Evil must be punished" or even "destroyed" is one of the ESI's mottos.

...Fascinating.

I know, right? Much interesting, and I mean a lot, really! I have spent time thinking about it

It's stuff like this that makes me want to just move on really.

I should just give it up. DA is a lost cause. :P

DA is not a lost cause at all. It has a lot of potential and, most of the times, is misinterpreted in many ways

Horns can also be for middle class caucasians to play something alien, so they can tap into a supposed progressive mindset. "Hey look! I'm so open to the radical and different. I've overcome racism because of my video game choices!"

And no, I'm not stretching it. Ive gotten hints of it here and there. I think it's very deliberate on Bioware's part. They think they're uncovering something insidious and prejudiced in people, when they present their racial points with radical imagery. As if that wasn't the natural response.

Worse yet, I hate being spoken to about race from this demographic. Like Patrick Weeks. The 40 something White guy with a Stanford degree, who probably makes 5 times as much as me. How many of them have gotten their ass kicked for simply being a "******" or or "******" or a "spic"? How did they ever get this platform?

/rant..  The rantiest of rants. :P . Time to play some older game.

So Weekes is to blame for his degree and his 40 smths?   I cannot agree nor disagree with Weekes yet, as I haven't seen his full work in motion. I guess we shall see in the next game.

But the truth of truths is that this game is made by humans for other humans. And even though they may want to do it this or that way (go wild!), they still have to take their gamers into consideration (what they are liking, how they accepted or not smth, etc). Needless to say that they'll hear to the loudest voice, be it whatever, but I've also noticed their attention turned to the minorities as of late.

What I mean with this is that we are what we are. Consciously or not we ALWAYS connect a culture to their appearances still, because that's still how the world is. And that's nothing bad! I mean, if we looked all the same it'd be monotonous and if everyone was a catholic (caucasians, etc)... and so forth

Then that fits in the fratboy category. Either way, they both suck.

I'd appreciate the Qunari again if they have more of a purpose than "looks". Race and culture is not about appearances. Not in RPGs and not in the real world.

I have every confidence that the next DA will be aaaaall around the Qunaries and the Qun, so let us just wait and see for ourselves

I think most players are harmless and just want to have fun. That only annoys me when it becomes the "motherfucking horns" territory of fun. I want to have fun too, but childishness isn't my thing.

But diversity? The games have slowly gotten less diverse. For example, dwarves keep being being presented as surfacers, who act human. Their distinguishing characteristic and hook is reduced to looks. It's more annoying when someone goes "Oh, humans are so boring." But then basically play a human in all but name.

Again, this is the way people act IRL. This game is made by people for people and as people we can only truly know what we live or others in our age live. Chinese people will come to Portugal and try their best to blend in, adapting to our lifestyle as much as surface dwarves do among humans. That's what's best in us. Adaptation

The rest is up to the developer's creativity which, again, has to be molded according to what the masses like while ALSO keeping it immersive. A tough work, to be sure

All in all, relax. Play the game. It's supposed to distract you and entertain you. Not cause rage

See, I'm Qunari through and through. I hope BioWare does show us their culture and people first hand, instead of these single characters that don't tell us much.

They will, Poods, next episode

To be continued...

(all in all I hope you get what I mean. It's a bit confusing, but I'm in traffic so...)

I have no use for this in a fantasy game. Especially when it just strips humans of their own varied and interesting backgrounds. Humans should able to be as lower class or criminal as a smuggler type or a merc. This is what helped Hawke, as a human selection. DAI was a step backward.. more than one step actually. Because it's even worse and more specific than DAO's human. More open my ass. Things are even more pigeonholed.

Few care for the 5% that insist on being a dwarf (I'm using that number from DAO.. maybe it's more. But apparently 5 percent played a dwarf). Especially if it's gonna spite every other Rogue character type. If you can pull off both, that's nice.. but it didn't happen.

So you'll blame the other 95% for not playing as a dwarf?

Humans were varied in this game, they highlighted a lot of different cultures inside human societies (Fereldans and Orlesians, the avvar (and even their differences INSIDE the same society), "Vints" and even Marchers)

Vivienne is a Marcher-turned-Orlesian and she even says in a dialogue that she does not seem Orlesian and she answers, if I'm not mistaken: "That which is yours but different can be used as a hindrance or strength" (or smth along these lines

There's not such diversity in all the other DAs combined

Human are varied in the setting. Not in the game. They are the youngest child of the Trevs/Ostwick nobility, Chantry based, etc., etc.. You have to roleplay around that. Or if you're one of the people who just play for "fun", then you make up whatever. But I'm not one of them.

I like the human variation in the setting though. Too bad they don't deliver much on international politics.. in a game about an Inquisition and war. It's more about other ****. There's a lot of potential for interesting politics, but it'll never happen without all of this silliness and hand waving.

Not to mention it has a growing fanbase that says "Humans are SO boring!!", even though Dragon Age wouldn't be interesting without humans up to this point. Where the **** do these people come from? The Panda expansion of WoW? The furry crowd? Wtf.

My qunari had never been a Qunari so she was just herself.
