Splendid morning, 2016 edition of the colourful potpourri of wonders that is the DQ!
Not going to argue I would have chosen Cullen as a returning character when given the option (which I also wouldn't want to have per se), but at least they made him a likeable and reasonable gentleman in DAI, so I don't get the problem - at this point especially.
I hated him in DAO. I was amused to see him as who he became in DA2, appreciating or admittedly rather interpreting that the writers wanted to tell me "this is the kind of person who climbs the ladder within the Templar Order". In DAI, he adressed all the things I despised about him, and instead of giving me a "Because of the times", Cullen stood up for his present self and kept it at a genuine "Well, sh*t". I respect that, I respect his ideas and suggestions the most out of all the advisors, and I respect him now.
BSN-whide speaking however, isn't it also worth arguing, that the fact he indeed changes from nervous, vengeful mess; to slightly more experienced authority person on the wrong path; to finally capable soldier and decent, mature human being? Isn't that the thing you'd want in a character with a lifespan as long as his?

People think it's "fanservice" cause he's portrayed as an arsehole in the first two games then suddenly he has a new look and he's a knight in shining armour.. I agree with you though. Regardless of that, people can change. A lot can change in 10 years.
My Inquisitors always became mates with Cullen. My distaste or rather my very minor annoyance is with how certain girls act.. Similar to that of Bieber fans. And I'm not talking about you, Stormy

It is! I've been on the receiving end of that hate before too, and i'm rather mild compared to a ton of people out there!

Yes. Yes they were. There's actually a funny story to that but you're better off asking Ber.

"I, too, fanatasize about being ravaged by a balding, sweaty, child-trafficking, whiny addict who wants to destroy the world (of course as the servant of someone else, cause otherwise it'd at least be ambitious) because they got fired effectively for being a bum. What's not to adore?"
I meant I was surprised about the magnitude of his popularity, not that women could find anything attractive about Cullen at all. In Samson's case however, I cannot for the life of me fathom how even complex, multi-layered "bad boy" hate-love can go wrong as far.
