I noticed Dalish was the first achievement I ever locked (PS3). So I must've liked it too.. but I don't think I warmed up to the origin itself until later.

It's the only one that got a tear out of me though. I don't know why it was considered one of the worst.

I enjoyed it well enough to make a few more Dalish elves. I will never forget the first time I played the game though. One of the best gaming experiences I have had so far.

Only two Origins in DA O that are really worth anything to me are Dwarf Noble and Human Noble.  And Dwarf Noble only by really pulling a technically...actually and I take it back City Elf.

fixed. I care nothing for dwarves so I personally don't find a dwarf noble worth playing.

Plus, I used Mark Meer for my male elves. That's cool in itself. :P

I don't like these Human Noble voices...

Personal preferences aside from an objective stand point I am right.  The majority of the Origin Stories just die in the Origin Story and maybe get a mention sprinkled here and there throughout the game.  The Human Noble and City Elf is the only two from my recollection which have significant tie in to the over all plot and it makes the game better as a whole. (OK yes that last part is my personal opinion for those who cannot tell the difference).

IMO The Human Noble Origin is one of the few things that actually manages to save DA O from utter mediocrity and make the game worth playing still. IMO.

I like CE, but the only reason I'm iffy now is that I hope the next game will have one.

The only thing I feel comfortable repeating is human. It's mostly human concerns across the trilogy, so it doesn't feel too overdone.

I think...nah nevermind the whole mage thing is virtually a human centric issue and that has been a lot of the driving force and then Tevinter.

I just mean Chantry stuff, Orlais, Ferelden, etc.. I never felt like I had to think about any human's role in it. It's just like if I wrote a story of any locale, and used it's own populace to build the story around.

But still, Dalish and DN stand out as very badass outsiders. edit: I'm warming up to DC too, but it's more of a sneaky outsider.

Honestly though the Human Noble Origin and subsequent plot relevance is one of the few enjoyable things about DA O.

What do you mean, subsequent plot relevance? What did I miss?

Ugh, no you are not 'right'. I don't really have the patience for this argument right now, but this is just like those people saying a Female Elf Mage is the best Inquisitor. Or a Male Noble is the best. All for 'story' reasons. All origins tie into the plot. You may find a human noble or city elf tie in better than others for whatever reason, but that doesn't make them better or the only ones worth playing. I find my Dalish elf ties in better than my City elf.

Because Cousland has a personal vendetta against Howe they must fulfill! Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

I think Dalish ties in well with the overall themes of DA. Not necessarily this particular Blight, but whatever. It's still a good intro to the series as a whole. It's why I still say it's better than the DAI Dalish... It kind of bums me out that people dogged it back in the day, but now the Dalish are a popular subject.

There's a reason why Bioware made it their default.

The Human Noble story, again at least to me...there is an off chance I am wrong on this :P...connected to the entire plot via Arl Howe.  Because Arl Howe was an important player in Loghain's Coup (his Lt in all probability) and since Howe betrayed your family and since you do not deal with Howe till almost the end of the game, it made the entire story personal for the Human Warden.  Unless of course the Warden didn't like his family but...well I do not think there was any dialog avaialble to express active dislike of the Teryn.  Meanwhile it also supported Allistair's own story and his own character arc through the game.  It turned DA O into a really cool revenge story tragedy thing without really the tragedy instead of the bland mediocre save the world game the rest of it was.  Again IMO. :P  Some people do like it more then DA I after all. ;)

I really did not think, nor remember any tie in with the main story plot for DA O from any of the other Origins.  I mean side stories and sort of easter egg variations? Sure.

Oh, then I don't disagree. It's a good intro to DAO's story. When I say Dalish is a good intro too, I meant on a more abstract/thematic level. Not the details of the plot.

It doesn't need to tie into the main story for them to be worth playing. That is all I am saying.

You know though expanding on this whole topic it is kinda funny though that the Origin that has the most impact on the entire franchise is the Dalish Origin.  heh.  The whole Eluvian thing and the billions of questions that started because we went down that rabbit hole.  Though I do not expect any other game to really deal with the Eluvians I think that mystery has been pretty much wrapped up.

And I agree entirely.  Friend of mine suggested I should probably play through each Origin Story once, and I still may one day.  Only ever played a Human Noble, Circle Mage, and Dalish Elf.

I find a good hook with every origin really. I'd be content with any of them. That's what is missing now.

Sorry. I've already been up later than I wanted to writing this little background of my canon Inquisitor for the Inquisitor Corner. Cheers.

IDK speaking from my own experiences one of the hardest things you can do as a writer is chose where in the story you want to begin something.  I have restarted my character/ universe story arc like four different times because I keep on getting unsatisfied with where I am beginning it so I move the starting point.

Though it is probably DA Is biggest and most glaring problem from a writing stand point and it is evidence of weak writing because what I can imagine happened in the BioWare writing room they felt that they could not begin the game before the Conclave and still preserve Corypheus's identity as being the Elder One.  The answer to this problem was simple, just start the game before, get to the point, have the screen white out, and then pick up after the breach and the rest of the game can begin.

The only Inquisitor story I've come up with is Circle mage.. it comes easy to me. I just don't want to like it anymore. I'm determined to make the mundane Trev work. :P

I should read that.  And I really should post tid bits on Aeryn and Mal and maybe Cam but they would not be as epic as...Ben, Kara, or Abigail. :P

My rogue Trev works amazing.    Funny I keep saying this but she is actually the closest I have ever come to a self insert.
